needs updates
the hotel images are from long ago golden days and not the reality of today. I'm a long time Hyatt fan and both my wife and I were very disappointed that the hotel was a letdown.

Good Option in Kyoto
Great service overall but rooms and carpet etc need to be updated. The bathroom is small with no real counter space. I think for a Hyatt Regency it is in line with expectations. I LOVED the hotel's bar area and Italian restaurant

An oasis of calm with exceptional service
We have been returning to Hyatt Regency Kyoto for over 11 years, and it remains one of our favourite hotels anywhere in the world. Having stayed in some wonderful hotels on our travels, we would comfortably place it among the very best. The location is excellent, opposite the Kyoto National Museum, not far from Kiyomizu-dera temple and within easy reach of Kyoto Station. It makes a wonderful base for exploring, while offering a peaceful retreat after a busy day exploring this wonderful city. There is such a warm, friendly atmosphere here — a true oasis of calm. The beautiful wooden interiors reflect the skill and craftsmanship for which Kyoto is known, giving the hotel a distinctive character. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail is fantastic. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the showers are simply the best — I would happily take one home! Across all our stays, we have never had an issue with noise or heard neighbouring guests through the walls. It is wonderfully peaceful and tranquil. The service is exceptional. Staff are consistently friendly, attentive and thoughtful, making you feel welcome and looked after without anything feeling intrusive. Standards have never slipped over the years, and that consistency is one of the reasons we keep returning. Dining is another highlight. The food is full of flavour, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection, with plenty of variety. The emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients adds to the pleasure of staying in a city so renowned for its food. The chefs and restaurant team deserve enormous credit. For the quality of the accommodation, food and service, we consider it excellent value for money. Hyatt Regency Kyoto has become a much-loved part of our visits to Japan, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Outstanding Service and Authentic Hospitality at Hyatt Regency Kyoto
We recently visited Kyoto and chose the Hyatt Regency, and it proved to be an exceptional decision. Beyond its convenient, central location, what truly sets this hotel apart is the extraordinary level of personal care and service. A special note of gratitude goes to Ms. Thiri Naing, whose warmth and expertise made our stay unforgettable. She initially managed to secure an upgrade for four days of our stay, which originally required a room move for the final two nights. However, through her proactive efforts, she was able to keep us in the same upgraded room for our entire stay without the hassle of moving. Her 5-year dedication to the Hyatt brand shines through in every interaction, and team members like her are precisely why we continue returning to Hyatt. The concierge team also went above and beyond when my wife developed a sudden cold and sinus issue. They promptly arranged an appointment at a local Japanese clinic, making the entire medical process smooth and quick. Impressively, the clinic even followed up with us over the next week to ensure her recovery was on track. If you are looking for genuine care, high-level attentiveness, and exceptional service in Kyoto, we recommend the Hyatt Regency Kyoto with complete confidence

Amazing hotel in Kyoto.
Amazing hotel in a unique modern Japanese influenced style. Will absolutely return to this hotel on our next visit. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was super receptive and helpful. Spa was nice. Workout facility (was a little far away) but very nice.

Amazing time
Great location, rooms nice and staff was amazing. Restaurant on side had nice selection and high quality. Breakfast is not to be missed it exceeded our expectations.

A quiet entry-level premium hotel with concierge services
The hotel is located right next to the museum. It has a warm and premium vibe with wood-carving-like decorations. The concierge service was especially convenient if you would like to book a local restaurant but they only take phone reservations and you don’t speak Japanese. Just tell the concierge the place and time range and they will do the rest.

Great Hotel
We had a great experience and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a quiet, peaceful area, yet very centrally located and convenient for exploring everything nearby. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. A wonderful combination of a great location, tranquility, and excellent service. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful and peaceful stay in Kyoto, Japan
Hyatt Regency Kyoto is a beautiful building with amazing and intricate interiors. The staff is super helpful, really kind, and completely on top of all our needs. Highly recommend! (And go soon, as the building may be demolished and rebuilt May 2027!)

The best hotel in Kyoto
Beautiful property! Amazing staff. The breakfast had so many choices it was hard to choose from. This property has so many food choices including an amazing Italian restaurant. The location was also great. We loved our stay in Kyoto and can’t wait to go back to Hyatt Kyoto

Amazing stay
The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. We arrived by taxi. Staff member greeted and welcomed us. She made sure that we had all our luggage, then escorted us to the check in counter. After checking in we were taken to our room and shown were things were. The room had several toiletries. Our room overlooked a garden. We got the breakfast. It was reasonably priced. They had a variety of food and succulent fresh fruit

Don't go here expecting the typical Hyatt Regency hospitality and experience. Also, the hotel is older and due for a refresh. If you want a higher end or comfortable experience, this is not the hotel.

Great Stay in Kyoto
We were extremely happy with our hotel selection. I always enjoy Hyatt Regency hotels but this particular one was much better than I was anticipating. The area was convenient and near a train station, yet quiet at night. The staff was very accommodating to our group of 7 across 3 rooms. The rooms were immaculate with great amenities. The concierge even helped us get reserved tickets to the Gion Matsuri float parade. I have never had a better experience.

Beautiful hotel in Kyoto
This is a beautiful hotel. The staff is perhaps the kindest and most attentive we have ever experienced. The room is lovely. The area is nice with a museum across the street and a large, beautiful temple right next door. The buffet breakfast is stunning with a wide variety of options.

Great stay
We had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the location was excellent. The only inconvenience was that both the hotel restaurants and room service closed at 9:00 PM, leaving very limited dining options later in the evening. Other than that, everything was excellent, and we would happily stay here again.
