Excellent Hakone Hotel
My wife and adult daughter and I spent two nights at the Hyatt Regency Hakone property and were very pleased and impressed with the property and our experience. The property, staff, and food experience were top notch and the Onson experience was excellent. The free shuttle to several key Hakone drop offs and pick ups was both a necessity and a great help.
A nice hotel in Hakone with large rooms and good view
A very nice place with an onsite spa. Huge rooms and nice views. Spa services were well organized and expertly provided.
Perfect relaxing mountain side retreat
Beautiful location and excellent hotel facilities. Would highly recommend this property for a quiet and scenic getaway!
Luxurious Hakone Hyatt Regency Stay
The Hyatt Regency Hakone was an outstanding facility and relaxation spa. We thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming Living Room and Onsen during our stay. Top quality rooms, dinning, spa, and staff. The AM walking tour hosted by the GM to Nicolai Bergmann Gardens was an enjoyable private visit to the gardens.
Shock during check in
I was able to book the accomodation using the Hyatt app and mentioned my children’s ages 11 and 15, as I have done with all my booking while travelling in Japan. Unfortunately while checking in we were told the room doesn’t accommodate us and had to pay extra for upgrade and breakfast. I am very disappointed
Great place
Excellent in every which way. Location, room size and appointment. Value for money. Service excellence. All amenities
Great place to relax
This was a nice hotel. Close to the cable car, which will take you to Gora or the Ropeway. The onsen was nice and great to relax after a busy day. This is a nice hotel to relax and unwind.
Hakone in July
Location was great. The central area was beautiful though showing some signs of wear and tear. The rooms were also well equipped but beginning to show needs of renovation. Very limited view from the rooms on the fifth floor. Food on property was generally a highlight with both dinner and breakfast being very well done. The Spa was nice, but better suited for adults than families with young children. Limited places for kids to roam free and have fun. The nearby ropeway and open air museums were both fantastic.
Globalist welcome
Awesome property with an excellent restaurant. We stayed here as globalist and invited another group to join, and both of us were treated as globalist.
Wonderful hotel for families in Hakone
Excellent hotel in Hakone with fantastic customer service. We stayed in a Tatami room as a family of four. The room had everything you'd need - including yukatas for the children! It was very spacious and clean. They even offered to set up futons for the children. The hotel is a little bit away from Gora Station and other shops/restaurants, but the shuttle service provided for free from the hotel is great - we used it to get from Odawara station. When they saw us leaving the hotel for a walk, they offered to take us directly to the Open Air Museum and picked us up when we were done. Onsen was quiet and peaceful, though indoors. Book reservations in advance if you want to eat in a restaurant, we didn't so had to do room service or the living room eating area, which was just ok.
Good place to stay
Very good experience with recent stay, beautiful surrounding, very professional staff, quality service, love to go again.
Wonderful experience
We had a wonderful and relaxing experience with a combination of western and Japanese style rooms, onsen and comfortable yukata style in the lounge and dining room. A special mention to the reception staff who personally dropped us off at Gora railway station in a rainstorm when no taxis were available
Disappointing stay and unacceptable Hyatt service
Disappointing stay and poor service from Hyatt We stayed at Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Our original tatami room had a very strong unpleasant smell. When we reported it to the front desk, the staff seemed to already be aware that this can be an issue with the tatami rooms. The bathroom faucet was also leaking, and overall the room did not feel properly maintained for the price we paid. The handling of the situation was also frustrating. We were moved between rooms and felt that we had to push very hard, including asking for a refund for the night, before any meaningful compensation was offered. It did not feel like the hotel took the issue seriously from the beginning. Housekeeping was also disappointing. A room service tray was left outside our room from around 5:00 PM until the next morning around 10:00 AM, and it had an unpleasant smell in the hallway. I also contacted World of Hyatt online during the stay. They asked if I was still at the hotel, I said yes, and they told me they would check and get back to me shortly. No one ever followed up. Overall, this stay really changed the way I see Hyatt service. For a hotel at this price level, and especially under the Hyatt brand, the service and follow-up were simply unacceptable. We left feeling that we had to fight to be taken seriously, which is not the experience I expected.
Elegant and cozy
The fireplace smelled wonderful. The service was excellent. The food and drinks were timely and delicious. We didn’t try the restaurants, but the living room is very comfortable for informal dining. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well designed. We enjoyed sitting in the sunroom, looking at the mountains. What a lovely place.
Perfect, would visit again
Great location, large rooms. Excellent breakfast and welcome drinks. Very useful location shuttle service, they will also collect you from Odawara station if you book in advance. Nice Onsen but not sauna.
Excellent Service and Spacious Rooms in a Great Hakone Location
Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay at Hyatt Regency Hakone. The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Hakone, and the property itself remains very comfortable and appealing. The rooms are especially spacious, which adds a great sense of relaxation for a resort stay. The dining experience was also a strong point. The restaurants continue to offer high-quality food, and the meals felt very much in line with what one would hope for from a resort hotel in this setting. Service throughout the stay was another highlight — the staff were professional, attentive, and clearly put great care into preparation and guest experience. At the same time, the area now seems to have more strong accommodation options than before, and the competitive landscape feels different. This made me feel that the hotel may have room to refresh its positioning and evolve further, so that its overall experience more fully matches its many strengths. I still found plenty to appreciate during my stay, especially the service quality, comfort, and food, but I also came away hoping to see the property continue to develop in the future.
One night stoppver in Hakone.
Beautiful location in Hakone. The Hyatt is a 5 min walk to the mid-station Kami-Gora on the Hakone Cable Car which makes it a convenient location for the Hakone loop. It has a great onsen and spa. The dining could be better as this facility does not have a real bar which I expected it to have.
Amazing hotel, nice and relaxing
We had an amazing stay at the Hakone Hyatt Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made a fantastic impression. They were clearly proud of both the hotel and the surrounding area. The check-in process was smooth and efficient—we were seated, given a map, and walked through everything we needed to know, including local attractions, transport options, and the hotel shuttle service. The onsen was also explained clearly, and we were then personally guided to the lift, which was a nice touch. That evening, we went down for dinner and our welcome drinks. The staff were warm and engaging, especially with our children—they took the time to chat with them and make them feel included. The meals were excellent and a real highlight of the stay. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. The staff were incredibly attentive and kind, even helping our children with their food and showing them around. It made the experience feel very welcoming and family-friendly. The onsen was clean, relaxing, and well maintained. Our room was spacious and comfortably accommodated our family of four. The only minor downside was the shower setup. At 6'2" (187 cm), the shower head was mounted too low and sprayed at shoulder height, and the hose could have been longer. A small adjustment here would make a big difference for taller guests. Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations and delivered exactly what we hoped for from a Hyatt hotel. It really stood out—especially when compared to our next stay at Mt Fuji Speedway Hotel, which could learn a lot from Hakone about delivering a great guest experience
Amazing resort
The Hyatt Regency Hakone is a beautiful resort that gives you a great location to visit Hakone . The shuttle service is extremely helpful (needs to be reserved in advance) for Odawara. But from Gora station you can also take the funicular to Kami Gora station and it's a 5 minute walk making it so easy to access. The service is impeccable and the staff are just lovely. Also if you are lucky you can catch a glance of Mount Fuji in the back on a clear day. We also enjoyed the onsen. Overall a wonderful stay!!!
Cool vibe in a wonderful setting.
Really cool place in an awesome location. Great dinner experience. Wonderful breakfast. A wee some spa. Loved everything about it!
