A Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong ESG Committee, formed by senior colleagues across all departments, leads the hotel’s sustainability efforts.

We use Hyatt EcoTrack to track metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, waste, and recycling. By collecting data, we can generate insights that are important in advancing efficiency and reducing our impacts wherever possible.

Our hotel achieved the EarthCheck Silver Certified Accreditation in 2024. While there is still much to be done, we are committed to actively seeking out alternatives, innovations, and ideas to continually care for the planet, people, and responsible business.

Carbon Emissions and Water

  • In 2024, we achieved a -9.6% reduction in energy consumption per occupied room compared to 2023.
  • Key efforts include use of energy-efficient lighting, heating & cooling, and swimming pool jet systems, and a solar panel pilot project to explore renewable energy.
  • Room for Change: To encourage guests to help reduce energy and water usage, we donate one tree to a regional reforestation project every time a guest skips housekeeping service, while guests receive a HK$40 in-stay food and beverage credit as a token of appreciation.

Waste and Circularity

  • In 2024, we achieved a -17.6% reduction in waste per sqm compared to 2023.
  • Our guest rooms feature: single-use amenities made from non-plastic materials, filtered drinking water dispensers, refillable bulk format toiletries, recycling bins, and more.
  • Mobile Entry is available through the World of Hyatt app. Key cards and welcome cards are made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified sources.

Our Food Philosophy

  • We are guided by Hyatt's food and beverage – Food. Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served.
  • Our F&B venues are single-use plastic-free, and a minimum of 50% of our seafood inventory is sourced from sustainably certified suppliers.
  • 1% of our restaurant bills is contributed to help fund food-related climate solutions, in partnership with Zero Foodprint Asia, a non-profit organisation that invests in local, regenerative farming and land management practices.
  • In 2024, we achieved a -46% reduction in our food waste by using Lumitics’ food waste tracking technology and data analytics to improve menu planning and production.
  • In 2024, our ORCA food waste digester (which converts food waste into liquid for safe discharge) diverted 30,000 KG of food waste from landfills - equivalent to 15,000 KG of carbon emissions avoided.

Awards & Achievements

In 2024, we achieved the EarthCheck Certified Silver Accreditation.

We were also awarded the Sustainable Agriculture Award (Hong Kong) and Collaborative Partnership Award (Hong Kong) at the ESG Business Awards 2023, for our partnership with Zero Foodprint Asia – a non-profit investing in sustainable farming and land management.
