I rarely write a review but this hotel deserves one. During my last trip to Melbourne, I split my time between Hyatt Centric and Park Hyatt. To my much surprise, I can wholeheartedly say I enjoy my stay at Hyatt Centric more. In fact, this is the best hotel I’ve stayed in Melbourne. My room was clean and specious. The amenities were practical and thoughtful with personal touch to it. The pool is very well designed with cool and relaxing lounging area and great music. I enjoyed my time by the pool so much so that I ended up having a little snooze. My room wasn’t ready when I checked in but I was able to get freshened up in the shower at the pool. There are only a few shower rooms but they are spacious and well maintained (although I wish they had left some fresh towels in the shower so I didn’t have to walk to the pool to get some) — like a shower in a first class lounge at the airport but much, much better. The service was friendly yet professional. The breakfast has good selection and there’s something for everyone. The location is also great as it’s close enough to the Southern Cross station yet far enough to feel some privacy. I traveled with two suitcases and a handbag and I could walk from the station to the hotel without any hassle. All in all, I highly recommend this hotel and it will be my first choice every time I’m in town going forward.
