From Parking Lot to Prestigious Landmark
What was once a simple car park has been transformed into one of Zurich’ s most refined luxury destinations: Park Hyatt Zurich. Since its opening in 2004, this plot in the Enge district has become a symbol of urban renewal and contemporary elegance.
Designed by acclaimed Swiss architects Meili + Peter in collaboration with Zeno Vogel, the hotel blends clean architectural lines with rich natural materials, contemporary art, and exceptional gastronomy.
The former parking lot has been relocated to the hotel’s underground garage and remains an integral part of the city: it is always open not only to its international hotel guests but also to the residents of Zurich.
A Grand Opening
When Park Hyatt Zurich opened its doors in September 2004, the city welcomed not just a new hotel, but a new era of understated luxury. On its opening night, a select circle of Zurich’s business and cultural elite gathered to celebrate the transformation of the former Escherwiese Parking Lot into a space of modern refinement.
Guests were greeted in the two-storey lobby, surrounded by curated contemporary artworks, and drawn into a world of fine cuisine, flowing champagne, and quiet elegance.
Conversations filled the air in the ONYX Bar, while the show kitchen at parkhuus Restaurant offered a taste of what was to come. It was a night that marked the beginning of something lasting.
In October 2024, Park Hyat Zurich celebrated its 20th anniversary.
