World of Care

At Hyatt Regency Koh Samui, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to protect and preserve our environment for our guests, colleagues, and the local community.

Aligned with Hyatt’s 2030 Environmental Goals, we have been actively reducing waste, conserving water, and optimizing energy usage since 2021.

Our commitment to sustainability continues to grow, with enhanced initiatives in responsible food sourcing, waste reduction, and resource conservation across all operations.

Energy Efficient Management

Hyatt Regency Koh Samui has integrated advanced occupancy sensors in guest rooms to optimize energy efficiency. These sensors intelligently adjust air conditioning based on room usage, reducing unnecessary energy consumption while maintaining optimal guest comfort.

We are dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint through innovative energy management solutions. With the implementation of an AI-powered monitoring system, the hotel successfully reduced energy consumption by 15% in 2024 compared to the previous year. As part of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts' global commitment to sustainability, we strive to further minimize our impact. By 2030, Hyatt aims to achieve a 27.5% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions from its 2019 baseline, reinforcing our dedication to a greener future.

Clean Energy

A state-of-the-art 515kWp solar rooftop system has been successfully installed, providing significant energy savings and reducing reliance on non-renewable resources.

With an estimated annual generation of 760,000 kWh of clean energy, this system is expected to offset approximately 377 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. By enhancing energy efficiency and expanding the use of renewable energy, this initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.

Food Waste Management

We contributed to the development of the Hotel Waste Measurement Methodology. Through our advanced waste management system, we effectively minimize food waste and reduce overall waste in our operations, maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

In 2024, our culinary team achieved a remarkable 36% reduction in food waste through meticulous segregation and effective waste management practices, further strengthening our environmental responsibility.

Water Conservation

To safeguard Koh Samui’s precious groundwater resources, our resort has implemented a small-scale desalination plant. This eco-friendly solution minimizes dependence on groundwater, helping to maintain the island’s natural water balance while sustainably meeting our water needs. Aligned with Hyatt’s commitment to responsible water conservation, this initiative reflects our dedication to preserving the environment for future generations.

Plastic Waste Reduction

To minimize waste and protect our environment, we have eliminated single-use plastics by replacing plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles and adopting biodegradable takeaway packaging made from natural plant fibers. Straws are available only upon request, with eco-friendly alternatives provided. Additionally, we have transitioned to wooden keycards, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and reducing our ecological footprint on Koh Samui.

Sustainable Sourcing

We are committed to supporting local communities by sourcing at least 85% of our ingredients from within Thailand. Our free-range, cage-free chicken and eggs come from a local sustainable farm, ensuring quality and ethical sourcing. Additionally, we cultivate in-house microgreens such as basil, mustard, and coriander, reducing reliance on external suppliers while adding fresh, flavorful finishing touches to our dishes.

Connecting with Communities

We are deeply committed to supporting our local community by collaborating with vocational colleges and schools to provide internships and employment opportunities for young adults. Since December 2022, our hotel has also organized weekly lunches at the Samui Special Needs Foundation, creating a warm and inclusive environment for students and teachers. Additionally, we proudly partner with Koh Samui Hospital and the Thai Red Cross Society to host biannual blood donation drives, contributing to the well-being of those in need.
