A Hyatt Regency Sydney Green Team was created in 2018, with the purpose of leading the sustainability efforts of the hotel, formed by colleagues across all departments.
We use Hyatt EcoTrack to track sustainability metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, waste, and recycling. These insights are important to help advance efficiency improvements.
In 2025, the hotel achieved EarthCheck Bronze Certification, recognising our ongoing commitment to sustainable operations and responsible environmental practices.
We operate our building efficiently to reduce carbon emissions and water consumption across the hotel.
Cooling & Heating
Daily monitoring ensures heating and cooling are used only where and when needed.
Laundry
Linen is refreshed every third day unless requested otherwise, and guests are encouraged to reuse towels to conserve water and energy.
Lighting & Air Conditioning
Occupancy-based controls minimise energy use in guest rooms and meeting spaces.
Kitchen
Equipment is operated only when required, with energy-efficient appliances prioritised wherever possible.
Hyatt Regency Sydney is committed to reducing waste through innovative solutions.
Through partnerships with Reground, Riverina Fresh, Cookers, Soap Aid, and ReLove, we divert coffee grounds, recycle milk packaging, repurpose cooking oil into biodiesel, redistribute soap to communities, and donate mattresses to those in need.
Across the hotel, we minimise single-use plastics with bamboo straws on request, large-format amenities, compostable lids, recyclable minibar packaging, QR code menus, hydration stations and mobile key entry.
