Yoga Classes

After a hectic and stressful day, relax and seek peace through special yoga classes. Our hotel offers yoga classes 7:30–8:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A uniquely designed, personalized yoga session can be arranged with prior appointments.

Tennis Court

Our hotel has an outdoor clay tennis court open from 8 a.m.–8 p.m. subject to weather conditions. A single player can come and play with a tennis marker on request, and rackets and balls can be rented at the counter. Tennis coaching is available by prior appointment. Children can attend the weekly tennis classes, where the trainers take personal care of each child.

Jogging Track

The perimeter of the hotel offers a 0.75-kilometre jogging track. The track offers lush green gardens, palm trees and a clean environment that is perfect for a morning stroll to awaken or an evening breath of fresh air.

Squash Court

Our squash court is open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Rackets and balls can be rented and coaching is available by prior appointment. Squash is a racket and ball sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. Players alternate striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court.

This multipurpose stadium, which has capacity for 68,000 spectators, is home to several professional soccer clubs. It also hosts other athletic events, cultural programs and concerts.

The 40-acre amusement park has a variety of rides, games and attractions for all ages. In addition to providing educational recreation, Nicco Park has an open-air “food park” and a bowling arcade. Wet-O-Wild water park is within the park and is one of the most popular water parks of Kolkata with exciting water rides and a 48-foot giant waterfall.

Indian Museum

Formerly known as the Imperial Museum at Calcutta, the Indian Museum is the ninth-oldest museum in the world, the oldest museum in India and the second-largest museum in India. It features rare collections, from antiques to Mughal paintings, with displays of armour, skeletons, fossils, mummies and ornaments. Founded in 1814 by the Asiatic Society of Bengal in Kolkata, the founding curator was Nathaniel Wallich, a Danish botanist.

Howrah Bridge – Rabindra Setu

Opened in 1943, this 2,590-metric-ton bridge, constructed of high-tensile steel, is one of the busiest bridges in the world. Apart from the stormy weather of the Bay of Bengal region, it successfully bears the weight of daily traffic of approximately 80,000 vehicles and, possibly, more than 1,000,000 pedestrians. You can get a boat or a ferry, particularly in the evenings—the view is beautiful when the bridge is lit up. You can now party under the bridge as various cruises lets you hire a boat for the entire night, during which the cruise will pass under the bridge twice.

Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial was built from 1906-21 by the British in memory of Queen Victoria, and is one of the most prominent reminders of the British Raj to be found in India. The marble building sits among 64 acres of gardens and has 25 galleries. The memorial's design is reminiscent of the Taj Mahal.

Kolkata Race Course

One of the largest horse racing courses in the country, built in 1820, it is maintained by the Royal Calcutta Turf Club. Typically, races are held on Saturday afternoons and on public holidays during the racing season, which is July to September and November to March. A huge polo ground sits adjacent to the course. The racecourse, like other heritage landmarks in Kolkata, is a reminder of the opulence of bygone times.

Prinsep Ghat

Built in 1841 along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River, the monument to Anglo-Indian scholar and antiquary James Prinsep is rich in Greek and Gothic inlays. The ghat is one of the oldest recreational spots of Kolkata, and it contains landscaped gardens, pathways, fountains and renovated ghats. The area is ideal to embark on a river cruise or for a daytime or evening stroll.

Durga Puja

This annual festival, celebrated in September or October, marks the 10-day worship period of Hindu mother-goddess Durga. The festival also signifies ‘homecoming’, or a seasonal return to one’s roots. Durga Puja emphasizes the victory of good over evil, and it is characterized by large-scale installations and pavilions. Traditional Bengali drumming and veneration of the goddess also are part of the festival, where visitors will find people from all parts of Indian culture celebrating in their own ways.

National Library

This former residence of the British Viceroy was built in the Italian Renaissance style. Established in 1936, it is now the biggest library in India and boasts a collection of more than 21 million books, including digitised books, maps, periodicals, manuscripts and more. There also is a rare books section and foreign language books section. Membership is free.

Belur Math

Established in 1897, this temple serves as headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. The campus of the headquarters is popularly known as ‘Belur Math’. and sprawls over 40 acres of land on the western bank of the River Hooghly (Ganga). Belur Math is an hour’s drive from Kolkata.
