Environmental Sustainability
Taking care of the Earth is an inherent part of Hyatt's mission. Centred on looking after individuals to help them achieve their best, here are some initiatives of how we practice sustainability at our hotel.
Food Sourced Naturally and Locally
- Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur practices the sourcing of food naturally and locally, as well as emphasizes the usage of sustainably sourced produce. While supporting local suppliers, by minimizing imported products, it helps in reducing carbon footprint that is generally created from delivering internationally-sourced food items.
- More than 70% of the hotel’s total fruit consumption is sourced within Malaysia in light of supporting local communities.
- 100% of the hotel’s eggs is supplied by LK Fresh, the trusted partner for egg production from healthy hens living in clean nests and perches with constant access to fresh water and feed.
- Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur created its own Chef’s Garden as a green initiative to supply the kitchens in hotel entirety with homegrown Thai Basil, Lemongrass, Betel Leaves, etc. for relevant culinary and bartending use, located on suitable soil amidst the hotel entrance visible from the Grand Ballroom foyer.

Food Waste Management
- Since April 2022, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has launched the use of Lumitics, a Food Waste Prevention System, which automatically identifies waste by measuring, tracking and recording any food waste. This system has since empowered the hotel kitchens with beneficial data to reduce daily food waste, and subsequently minimize cost and environmental footprint.

Initiatives in Energy and Water
- The Green Building Index (GBI), developed by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), is the country’s first comprehensive green building rating tool. The hotel has been GBI-certified since 2012, with its status renewed through triennial audits.
- An energy-saving system is used to optimizes chilled and hot water temperatures throughout the building, including guestrooms, to maintain comfort while minimizing electricity consumption.
- The hotel’s façade features double-glazed windows that help insulate against heat and reduce air-conditioning energy usage.

Disposable guest amenities
As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing waste, our hotel provides a limited selection of disposable guest amenities. We kindly suggest packing necessary daily essential in advance. Should you have any special requests or require additional amenities, please feel free to contact us after check-in.
Bottled Water
In support of reducing single-use plastics, the hotel no longer provides disposable bottled water. Our Ecotaps™️ Water system purifies water on-site and uses a closed-loop process to clean and reuse bottles, cutting down on plastic waste and transport emissions—delivering sustainable hydration with premium quality.
