Excellent location and excellent customer service.
We had a lovely suite that had plenty of room for two kids and two adults. Condition of the hotel and the room was a bit dated but that was made up for by the warm and friendly customer service. Breakfast and the club lounge were great. I very much enjoyed the Japanese specialties. One day the chef came out and delivered warm matcha cakes that were wonderful. The pool was nicely heated but the one complaint I have with the hotel is the difficulty in how the pool is used. You have to make reservations which can be stressful to make and we were told we had an hour but in reality we were only given 40 min to swim. Location is fantastic with kids. The mall right out the front door has tons of food options and shopping to keep everyone entertained for as long or as little as you like. My kids really enjoyed the fountain show at night.
Excellent Stay: Location, Cleanliness, and Food
Very well-kept hotel in an excellent location. The lounge food was a highlight, with a different variety of dishes every day. Highly recommended!
Excellent staff service
The staffs provide excellent service. They made our stay so much nicer. The hotel itself is an older building, but their service made up for everything else. They were very kind, attentive and were always available when needed.
Not what it used to be
Was used to Hyatt being a stellar hotel that valued its members. At this particular hotel I was not recognized as a member, offered no benefits and received a room that smelled of mold.
Best hotel yet!
The Grand Hyatt was a great hotel to stay at. The staff was friendly and spoke exceptionally well English, being from out of county this was very helpful with checking in and any needs I had. The shower and tub in the washroom are amazing.
Amazing hotel in Fukuoka Downtown
One of the best hotels you can stay in Fukuoka. Gold location, great amenities (pool, spa) and exceptional services for all guests. The food at the breakfast was amazing, especially the kaisen don. The spa area is spacious and clean, and they use technogym facilities in the gym. If you’re a WOH member, you get even more out of your stay, including the club lounge (for globalists), reduced spa area entrance fee, and possible room upgrades. Overall, a truly amazing hotel in downtown Fukuoka.
Fukuoka - The Canal City Did Not Disappoint.
I had a great stay at the Grand Hyatt Fukuoka. The location is hard to beat — you're right next to Canal City and within easy reach of Hakata Station, which makes getting around the city simple. The room was clean and well kept, and the bed deserves a special mention: it was exceptionally comfortable, easily one of the better hotel beds I've slept in. The spa facilities were a highlight as well. The steam room was lovely, having two saunas was a nice touch, and the cold plunge pool and whirlpool rounded things out perfectly. I especially enjoyed the massage chairs, and the amenities throughout were fresh and spotless. Service was a strong point. Eason in particular went out of his way to accommodate a late checkout, which made the last day of the trip much easier. A couple of minor notes for future guests: check-in is held firmly to 3 p.m., and any additional guest on the reservation needs to be present at check-in — my guest arrived after I did, so I ended up waiting in the lobby rather than getting settled in. Both are understandable as policy, just worth knowing in advance. The pool is also more functional than recreational, so set expectations accordingly if you're traveling with kids. None of that overshadowed a genuinely enjoyable stay. I'd happily return.
Excellent Hotel, Skip the Breakfast
This Grand Hyatt was an excellent hotel with a great location (near a train line, one stop from Hakata station) and the service was (in typical Japanese fashion) excellent. Our room was spacious and the view was great, and really my only real complaint was the quality of the breakfast buffet. For the price (over ¥5000, like $33) the quality and variety could have (and honestly should have) been better. For that price I’ve had AMAZING breakfast buffets at Grand Hyatts and Hyatt Regencys around the world. The meat was not great, the eggs were off, and the juices were not fresh. The only real saving grace on the breakfast for me was the “pancakes” that reminded me of eating flan. Other than the very skippable breakfast, the hotel was great and I still highly recommend. But unless the breakfast is free, skip it.
Over priced American Hotel
The cost of the Hyatt was far more than the reat of the areas wonderful hotel. no value in staying there. Felt like an over priced american hotel.
Exceptional staff went above and beyond my needs
The hotel is located right next to Canal City, one of the biggest shopping malls in Fukuoka and is a walkable distance from nearby yatai overlooking the river. During the summer months, the mall has themed water fun events that my children loved. Regarding the hotel, the rooms are suitable for families and the facilities are well kept. One key point about the swimming pool: Only children above a height of 130 cm are allowed in so younger children may not be able to utilize the pool. The staff are easily the reason why I will come back to stay at this hotel. Everyone was courteous and resourceful. I purchased too many souvenirs to bring back to my home country and the staff helped me organize and pack a box to be delivered from the post office to my doorstep when I arrived. They also helped me book transportation on departure day so I wouldn't have to worry about looking for a taxi (I had many suitcases) during rush hour. I couldn't have been more satisfied with my stay at this hotel.
Overall awesome! I want to go back!
Best location period. Pretty much walking distance to everything. Great ammenities and best of all amazing staffs!!!
Great location and great service!
Rooms were spacious and location is very central with easy access to subway, shopping, and restaurant options! Staff was super helpful and service was above and beyond!
Great hotel, but limited food options.
Friendly staff, good location, modern room and amenities, but small rooms for the Standard Queen room. Also, no halal / kosher food options or options for those with seafood allergies. I would still stay here again.
Needs a renovation
The hotel is quite old and dated. We had to switch out of our original room since the smoke and mold smell was so strong. It just felt dirty walking in there. We were switched to a different room, which was better. But the next room had an issue where some lights couldn’t be turned off. So trying to sleep with the lights on was not fun. Customer service was always responsive and apologetic. I just think the hotel probably is in need of a massive renovation. The club lounge was nice and renovated though. The salt bread there was some of the best I’ve ever had.

Rooms need improvement!
Excellent location, breakfast was very good, room was tired and bed was too small ( hard too) for normal couple….pillows were not great too!
Clean room, old hotel, pricey
Rooms are clean. Hotel is a bit old for its price. My room there is a spotlight that is faulty. Gym can be 24 hours aligned with other 5 stars hotel in Asia,
Need of renovation
The room is in need of renovation and does not meet the standards I would expect from a Grand Hyatt property. The corridor from the elevator to the guest rooms had a strong, unpleasant odor, similar to that of an old, worn carpet.
Great location and service, but hotel needs an update
Direct access to Canal City where you’ll find restaurants and shopping. About a 10-15 minute walk from Tenjin station. Staff were helpful. Breakfast had an assortment of Asian and western food. It would have been nice to have made to order omelets. The hotel itself is quite dated and needs an update. Air conditions in the room worked well.
Top service
Convenient location and comfortable rooms. Excellent service by the team in all areas from bellman, checkin, lounge staff, housekeeping. Outstanding club lounge
Matcha Butter Cake
If you get a chance to go to the club, try and ask when Mr. Koga will make his fresh baked Matcha butter cakes! They are moist and chewy on the inside and a nice crisp on the outside edges! Although the rooms are somewhat dated, they are still very well kept. The staff is exceptional! They pride themselves in customer service and make their guests feel special!
