Set in Maxvorstadt, Munich’s museum district brings together a dense concentration of museums, galleries, and cultural institutions. More than a bar, Schumann’s has long been part of Munich’s cultural landscape. Since the 1980s, evenings here have drawn a creative crowd across design, art, and media, shaped by the presence of Charles Schumann. The inventor of the Swimming Pool cocktail, he remains a defining figure in international bar culture. Now located at the Hofgarten, the setting feels more refined, while the spirit of the bar remains unchanged.

Munich lends itself to exploring by bike, with the freedom to move, pause, and take in the city at your own pace. Andaz bikes are available, with picnic baskets included for a more relaxed way to get around. Rentals are offered for half or full day use.

Munich attitude to life

Another highlight with a bike is the English Garden. For over 225 years, people from Munich and well-travelled visitors have come here to enjoy a piece of Munich's attitude toward life. Worth seeing in the southern part are the beer garden at the Chinese tower, the round temple Monopterus with a view over the city and the Teahouse. Continue your tour through the park to the Isar River, which is a popular meeting place for sunbathing, cooling off in summer or for a fairytale walk during the cold season.

Set within Fünf Höfe, Kunsthalle München presents a rotating program of exhibitions spanning fashion, pop culture, and contemporary art. Spanning 375 hectares, the English Garden stretches through the city as one of the largest urban parks in the world. Wide lawns, tree-lined paths, and open water create space to move, pause, or step away from the center. The northern section is quieter, with fewer crowds and a more open, unstructured feel.

Munich's green lung – The English Garden

Set just behind the terrace of The Lonely Broccoli, the Andaz Garden is a quieter corner of the hotel, with plants, benches, and a central fountain shaping the space. Guests and locals gather here throughout the day, with a slower pace that sits slightly apart from the city, while still grounded in its surroundings.
