Environmental Sustainability Measures
In its journey to achieve the GreenRE Silver Award, Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur adopts the sustainable development criteria of GreenRE, Malaysia’s leading green building certification body. Below are highlights of the hotel’s sustainability features.
Building
- Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur is an Adaptive Reuse Building that has been repurposed from an office landmark into an upscale lifestyle hotel. Adaptive reuse reduces the demand for new construction materials which require significant amounts of energy and resources to produce, and in turn reduces the amount of construction waste sent to landfill.
- Use of eco-friendly construction materials, including steel with recycled contents.
- Use of low-VOC paint on internal walls to promote a healthy environment.
Energy Efficiency
- The building envelopes are designed to reduce external heat gains, and thereby reduce air-conditioning energy consumption.
- High-performance air-conditioning system and in-room temperature control.
- LED lighting in guestrooms and common areas.
- The hotel’s lift system features an AC variable voltage and variable frequency (VVVF) motor drive that can be adjusted to load requirements and a sleep mode to conserve energy when not in use.
Water & Waste Management
- Monitoring of water consumption via a sub-meter to identify and address any inefficiencies.
- Use of water-efficient fittings certified by the Singapore Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS) and the Malaysia Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme (WEPLS).
- Composting bins are implemented to manage organic waste.
Accessible Location
- Guests are encouraged to take advantage of nearby public transport options. The hotel is within walking distance of Bukit Nanas and Raja Chulan Monorail Stations, Dang Wang LRT Station, and several bus stops.
