    Relaxing Family Vacation

Having stayed already at the Grand Hyatt Maui, we chose Grand Hyatt Kaua’i mainly due to the hotel’s activities and facilities for small children.

    The Resort was amazing.

Very relaxing atmosphere while staying here. The restaurants had a variety of choices and the dinners we had were delicious.

    My favorite resort on Kauai!

You're wowed from the moment you walk into the grand reception hall to check in. The most beautiful resort! The breakfast buffet food and setting were amazing! The grounds and pool area are beautiful!

    Old but good but overpriced

This is a beautiful resort but am keeping in mind I went after the hurricane lowell. For how expensicve it is though, it is very outdated and old now. There were bugs everywhere, the AC doesn't work well, bad smell coming from carpet, moths in the rooms and closet. Kept feeling like there were bugs crawling in bed. Found cockroaches in the room as well. Bathroom and wallpaper old and peeling. For what I am spending, it could be better and renovated. They didn't offer a room change or anything with the cockroaches...they just sent a guy who grabbed one and left. Some of the amenities were closed like the club. Saltwater lagoon was closed due to hurricane damage. The pools also had a lot of leaves and branches and twigs which is understandable due to weather but also clean the pool? They are also stingy with the sunscreen which I found odd...they give a tiny amount in plastic containers which kind of seems against the sustainability movement they are trying to be a part of. Another 5 star Hyatt property I stayed at in Maui just had the bottles out for guests to use which seems more environment friendly. Towels and sunscreen only available between 8a-5p because a worker has to give it to you which I also found odd. Campus is beautiful and otherwise everyone is incredibly kind and helpful. But it did seem overpriced for what we experienced.

Mahalo for appreciating the resort's beauty and the kindness of our staff. We appreciate the feedback on value. I will look into the sunscreen, we used to have large refillable containers that guests could dispense from. I know that went away after Covid but I'll suggest we consider reviving that. Aloha.

Beautiful Resort and Wonderful Staff, but Disappointed by the Lack of Accommodation

We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai overall, and I want to start by saying that the staff was very friendly and welcoming. It’s a beautiful resort, and our family still had a good time. That said, we were disappointed with how several issues related to the hurricane were handled. The lagoon was closed during our stay, and room service was also unavailable. We completely understand that weather and hurricane-related circumstances are outside the hotel’s control, but these are significant amenities at a resort of this caliber and price point. We were surprised that no discount, resort credit, or other accommodation was offered to guests to make up for the reduced experience. Our check-in experience was also disappointing. On our first night, we were placed on the far side of the resort in an area that felt almost completely empty, despite having booked through American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts. We were not offered a room upgrade, even though that is one of the benefits of the FHR program when available. Given how empty that section of the resort appeared, it was difficult to understand why an upgrade or better room location wasn’t available.

Not ready for guests: no beach access, no guest communication, no lounge

Not ready for guests, and nobody told us anything Communication, access and setting expectations. The hotel failed on all three during our stay. Power outages came with same-day notice. The Grand Club lounge opened late with zero communication. The tiki torches weren't lit the entire trip and no one said why. When we asked, employees had no clue what was going on. There was no real beach access. A perfectly good spot in the middle of the property, with no exposed irrigation pipes, stayed closed. Instead the hotel insisted everyone use the public beach or the rocky access on the right, both far less safe. When guests went through the barrier to reach the beach they paid for, landscaping staff yelled at them. The lagoon was closed the whole time, with noisy construction going on. The hotel also put up a fence that blocks the ocean view, and all sound of the ocean, from the entire outdoor space. The pool was cold the first four days. There were no life jackets or floaties for toddlers, just cheap plastic ones you had to pay for. The poolside staff were rude and explained nothing about the order cards or where to wait for food. We sat at our table with our number and no one brought the food or told us you have to stand by the bar. The food was lousy the entire stay. Every staff interaction was brief and rude, and nothing about the service felt welcoming. Our room had cockroaches. The mismanagement at this hotel is astounding. I've never seen anything like it at a property this size. Hyatt needs to fly in a completely new management team to take over the recovery. Whoever is in charge now is so out of touch with the guest experience they shouldn't work in the hotel industry. If your hotel isn't ready for guests, keep it closed. This was a profit grab and I regret bringing our family here. Shame on Grand Hyatt for trading a quality experience for profits.

Aloha, the safety of our colleagues and guests is our highest priority. Sorry to hear that your expectations in staying shortly after Hurricane Lowell were not exceeded. As our utility company worked tirelessly to get residents and businesses power restored it did entail occasional power outages beyond our control but we are so grateful for all their hard work. Likewise our team worked very hard to clean up debris, branches and more. Again, sorry your experience was not as you expected. Aloha.

    Great Stay in Kauai

Kauai experience was unparalleled. Days after hurricane Lowell the Grand Hyatt Kauai still delivered in every aspect of premium hotel experience from rooms to amenities and dining on the Seaview terrace.

Loss of facilities from the hurricane with no credit of refund offered

The hotel is beautiful with amazing views and pools - though there is some deferred maintenance, and food and beverage prices are absurdly high with other local hotels and restaurants charging about half. We were there during hurricane Lowell and lost power for two days with the temperature in the room taking a third day to cool down, so there were three uncomfortably hot nights. The pools were also all closed so we were only able to enjoy then for 2 of our 8 days. The most surprising thing about the trip however is that the hotel issued no credits, refunds, or considerations of any kind for the loss of power, pools, and restaurants. These were force majeure, but I expected something having paid for a product they could not deliver. I was able to get the daily resort fee removed from my bill, but that is less than 10% of the cost of the stay.

Aloha, sorry to hear of your disappointment when expectations for credits and refunds following Hurricane Lowell were not met. You may certainly reach out to the hotel directly (808.742.1234) to discuss this unless you booked with a third party in which case you would need to contact them for adjustments.

    Awesome place!

We celebrated our 45th anniversary here. They have one of the best pool areas we've ever been to. You name it, they have it. From lazy rivers, adult pools, slides, activities, cabanas, salt water lagoon, beach, it's all there. Plenty of room too, no need to run out and save a spot. Our ocean view room was nice, nothing special but everything we needed. The restaurants were great and everyone was friendly. We were there during the hurricane and we felt safe the entire time. The resort is built very well and the staff treated us like family. Flashlights were in every room. They kept us fed and kept us well informed the entire time. I would recommend this resort very highly and we will definitely return.

    10/10 excellent service

I had a wonderful experience at the Grand Hyatt Kauai, and I especially want to recognize several team members who made my stay memorable. Ian was an excellent poolside server—friendly, attentive, and provided great service throughout my time at the pool. I also want to give special recognition to the security team: Brandon, Patrick, Jack, Aires, and Kalani. I was injured during my stay, and they provided exceptional care and assistance. They went above and beyond by helping me with escorted wheelchair assistance throughout the property and making sure I was safe and comfortable. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern made a difficult situation much easier. I truly appreciated how well I was taken care of and am very grateful to the entire team. Thank you to Ian and especially Brandon, Patrick, Jack, Aires, and Kalani for the outstanding service and hospitality.

    Amazing Kauai Experience

We had the best stay at Grand Hyatt Kauai! The property is so peaceful, there is so much to do and it is a great central point for touring around Poipu and surrounding areas. We loved our room - 3130. It was a Garden View Room but also had a room of the pool and the ocean!!

Exceptional Experience - Breathtaking Grounds and Views

I've been dreaming of staying at this hotel for over 20 years, but the high cost has always deterred us. However, we saved up to stay here for 2 nights as a splurge and treat to ourselves. We were not disappointed. Exceptional customer service, friendly staff, and large spacious room. We really enjoyed the beautiful grounds, pool, and ocean view, as well as food at restaurants. Would definitely stay again.

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa

Overall, we had a very good stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. The resort is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained, and the staff throughout the property were friendly and welcoming. That said, both the resort and our rooms felt somewhat worn and outdated. Considering the price charged for the rooms, I believe the property is due for a renovation and could use some updating. I especially want to recognize the housekeeping staff. They did an excellent job, and Luzviminda Austria was exceptional. She was friendly, attentive, and took great care of our rooms. Employees like her truly make a difference in the guest experience. My only real disappointment was our check-in experience. We arrived around 11:00 AM and completely understood that the official check-in time was 4:00 PM. We had three rooms, and the front desk employee told us they should be ready shortly. Based on that information, we had lunch and then waited in the lobby. Around 2:00 PM, we checked again and were once again told the rooms should be ready shortly. At approximately 3:45 PM, after waiting for several hours, we checked again and were told that our rooms were ready. The employee apologized that no one had called or texted to let us know. I wish the front desk staff had simply been upfront with us when we arrived and said that the rooms likely would not be available until the 4:00 PM check-in time. Had we known that, we would have opened our suitcases, changed into appropriate clothing, and spent the afternoon enjoying the pool and beach instead of waiting around the lobby expecting the rooms to be ready at any moment. Overall, it was still a very enjoyable stay. With some renovations and a more communicative and personable approach at the front desk, the Grand Hyatt Kauai could provide an experience that better matches the premium price and the otherwise excellent level of service we received.

Aloha, thank you for sharing. We'll be sure that front desk agents suggest that guests can use the pool, dine, shop, while waiting to check-in. Though the communication the front desk shared is what they received from housekeeping, the timing is not something they can control. We do appreciate your feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay overall. Aloha.

Aloha and ohana at the Grand Hyatt Kauai

Had a lovely time at the Grand Hyatt Kauai! The hotel is lovely with a fabulous pool experience and beach. The staff is professional and attentive to your needs, and the Anara Spa is phenomenal - ask for Bernardo and get a mana loom massage with him, and a mani/pedi with Tai. We look forward to coming back.

Hyatt did not meet expectations, underwhelmed

Stay at the high, it was unremarkable and certainly not worth what they charge per night. The overall inside of the hotel is grand and The building and grounds themselves have great bones. The public areas were attractive. What was tired, worn and filthy where the carpets In the hallways. Elevator doors and glass was fingerprinted. Items in the room malfunctioned specifically the bidet. I called to have it repaired. They came promptly but when they left, it wasn’t fixed. I ended up unplugging it. The Stainless steel trashcan in the bathroom was gross. It hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. The breakfast buffet had quantity but not quality. I chose several of my favorites to sample and ended up not eating any of them. I had cottage cheese and their bacon was perfection. I think they are probably due for a remodel and if they did, perhaps I would stay here again. The rooms are very much like ordinary hotel rooms. In other places I visited in Hawaii. The hotel rooms were beautiful and well appointed. For what they charge Hyatt needs to do better.
