Mixology Classes

Shaken or stirred? Discover the secrets to creating fantastic cocktails at Mix-Up mixology class. Learn from our in-house expert bartenders on how to create and enjoy a couple signature craft cocktails. Space is limited to ensure an intimate setting with the mixologist and cocktail interactions, recommended to book in advance. Classes are available at 3:00pm daily and are complimentary for resort guests and available to local visitors for $50 per person.

History Tours

Uncover the fascinating history of our 90-year-old resort, which was built in 1929 as the winter mansion of a wealthy New York financier. Explore the Royal Palms estate on an intriguing, guided tour. Tours available daily at 10:00am and 3:00pm. Please scheduled in advance.

Pool Days

Create the perfect day at the pool with one of our daybeds or cabanas. Soak up the sun and enjoy luxury relaxation, with a circular lounge bed, two pool chairs, a mini fridge, an overhead fan and shade curtains. Stay fit, even on vacation! With our weekend wellness options you are sure to find something to fit your travel schedule and feel energized for the day. Complimentary to resort guests, join us for the below classes: Fridays at 8:00am | Defining Body, Saturdays at 9:00am | Yin & Yang Yoga, Sundays at 9:00am | Yoga Nidra. Group or individual Yoga and Tai Chi classes are also available to book, price varies on request. For regularly scheduled classes, please book in advance, space is limited.

Hiking + Walking Trails

Explore the nearby mountains and trails with our complimentary hiking kit, available to all resort guests. You’ll be set and ready for your adventure with prepackaged water, snack, sunscreen, cooling wipes and other items essential for a successful hike. Or, for your outdoor adventure, discover the surrounding neighborhood on two wheels. Complimentary bikes are available to check out during your stay. Gather with us in our kitchen, or “cocina,” for an authentic tamale-making experience. The chef will guide you through the step-by-step process of creating tamales in a fun and social setting as you learn about the many variations of this delight, all of which have one thing in common: bringing family together. Join our family as we pass our recipe on to you, our new family, and allow us to make a restaurant reservation so we may prepare your tamales as an appetizer for you to enjoy. The Musical Instrument Museum is the largest museum of its type in the world. The collection of over 15,000 musical instruments and associated objects includes examples from nearly 200 countries and territories, representing every inhabited continent.

Taliesin West

Taliesin West is a UNESCO World Heritage site and National Historic Landmark nestled in the desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona. Wright’s beloved winter home and desert laboratory was established in 1937 and diligently handcrafted over many years into a world unto itself. Deeply connected to the desert from which it was forged, Taliesin West possesses an almost prehistoric grandeur. It was built and maintained almost entirely by Wright and his apprentices, making it among the most personal of the architect’s creations.

Heard Museum

Since its founding in 1929, the Heard Museum has grown in size and stature to become recognized internationally for the quality of its collections, world-class exhibitions, educational programming and its unmatched festivals. Dedicated to the advancement of American Indian art, the Heard successfully presents the stories of American Indian people from a first-person perspective, as well as exhibitions that showcase the beauty and vitality of traditional and contemporary art. The Heard Museum sets the standard for collaborating with American Indian artists and tribal communities to provide visitors with a distinctive perspective about the art of Native people, especially those from the Southwest.

Cosanti Originals

Experience the site which launched the movement to promote the creation of alternative urban landscapes sustainably integrated with the natural world. The tour includes pioneering architect Paolo Soleri's design studio, residential structures, the bronze foundry and ceramics apses, all hand-made with the iconic silt-cast concrete method. Today, the site is home to Cosanti Originals, where the world-renowned bronze and ceramic wind bells are made of Soleri's design. Tours are available Monday – Friday 10:00am & 11:15am, Saturday – Sunday 11:30am & 1:00pm. Tours are approximately 60 minutes. Tour prices are donation based.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West

At Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West (SMoW), we bring authentic stories to life through Western and Native American art, artifacts and living cultures. Guests see the West from a whole new perspective at our Smithsonian Affiliate destination. Located in the heart of Old Town, SMoW takes about 1 to 2 hours to tour. We feature permanent and rotating exhibitions. You’ll experience iconic Western art, pristine Navajo chiefs’ blankets; a collection of 1,400 examples of Old West cowboy gear; a tribute to the Hopi People with pottery spanning six centuries; and lots of fun social media-worthy photo opportunities, like our Western Spirit Trail 3D illusion mural that literally places you in the Old West.
