This beautiful historic hotel is really like no other. The rooms, pools, and restaurants are so unique and fun. The spa is absolutely unrivaled. Don’t deny yourself the spa experience! Deluxe rooms and suites are amazing (I book these because I like a little more space). Highly recommend this hotel’s luxury experience.

True luxury and fascinating history

The Elms itself is an incredible experience. The spa prices are out of control, in some cases 3X the amount you pay in the surrounding area for the same services. On top of the outrageous prices, they also charge you a 21% fee of which 15% goes to the staff performing the services. While I believe in tipping the staff, it should be up to the individual how much to tip. And where is the additional 6% going? We will definitely stay here again however, will probably opt out of spa services.

Hotel is great, spa OVERPRICED

Hotel is dated and dirty. The  spa could use work. The grotto smells moldy and the hot tub was broke down. There was hair and food in our bed when we checked in.  The food was really good.

Disappointed

I have been to the Elms a lot because I am always happy with the nice rooms, workout room, hot tubs and pools. Besides the wonderful food at the restaurant and am happy they added a coffee bar.

Always Enjoyable!

We had a great time.   Going to go back in the summer to enjoy the amenities better and explore the local area.  We didn’t do the Spa but it looked nice maybe on the next trip.

Weekend getting away.

I had an excellent mini-honeymoon here. The hot spring jacuzzi tub is great. It is far out of the way though, so make sure you have everything packed that you will need!

Don't forget your swim trunks!

Loved the stay at the elms. Pool was lovely, hotel was clean, paranormal tour was fun and children friendly. Loved learning the history of the building. Highly recommend staying here.

Quick family getaway

Although we didn't bring our own, it was nice to see folks with their dogs.  There was a bit of barking, but only heard as we traveled through the hallway and I think it was just a couple of furry friends greeting each other.  Never heard a sound of a dog from our room.  We did have a loud door closing across the hall.  I was able to change the heat/air system to have the fan running constantly to help with some white noise.  I love sleeping with white-noise and would recommend bringing a fan or something like that so that it isn't too quiet.  The space was clean and the staff was pleasant.  We didn't take the paranormal tour, but we did visit with guests who had and enjoyed it by the fire pit.  The outdoor hot tub was awesome in the cool air and was large and deep in the middle.  It was easy for 6 couples to sit and have plenty of personal space.  Folks seemed to be return guests who visit the hotel on a semi-regular basis or seasonally for a relaxing get-away.  Perhaps this led to the fact that everyone was relaxed and friendly.
The spa, although not inexpensive, was awesome.  We had a couples facial and it was a great experience.  The spa includes a 2-hour access to the spa hot tub (not the one I mentioned above), a dry sauna, steam shower, steam sauna, cold shower and relaxation area.  This additional access makes the pricing for the services much more palatable.  
The restaurant has good food and a very nice breakfast buffet.  We also popped out for some local Italian one evening and that was a good experience as well.

A First Time Guest Experience

Beautiful and peaceful setting and the Christmas decor was pretty too.
The food at the bar and restaurant was very good. 
Great place for a quick getaway in the Kansas City area.

Beautiful, historical. My experience could have been better room side. Minus random socks hidden from prior guests and a few untouched corners.
