Zojoji Temple

Founded in 1393, the Zojoji Buddhist temple was relocated to the present site in 1598 after Tokugawa Ieyasu entered Edo (present-day Tokyo), and it remained the temple of the Tokugawa family until the start of the Meiji era. It’s a picturesque spot for photos with Tokyo Tower standing tall in the background.

Atago Shrine

This Shinto shrine is famed for its steep stairway with 86 “stone steps to success.” Established in 1603 by order of the first shogun of the Tokugawa Era, Tokugawa leyasu, the shrine was built atop Atago Mountain, which offered ideal viewpoints of the town to protect the residents from fire and invasions.
