Sustainability at Alila | Alila Napa Valley
Environmental Sustainability
Sustainability is the new luxury, and at Alila Napa Valley, we are deeply committed to minimizing our impact on the environment and preserving the way of life and traditions of the surrounding agricultural community. Guests are invited to participate in unique sustainability experiences during their visit.
Climate Change and Water Conservation
Alila Napa Valley embraces an environmentally sustainable framework designed by renowned Canadian architectural firm Yabu Pushelberg. YP’s unique design principles prioritize sustainability along with world-class design through the use of longer lifespan design elements with replaceable elements. Experience the Oiseau solid ash wood chair, a self-seeding and fast-growing wood known for its natural beauty and flexibility during design.
The resort’s unique flat roofs have the distinct advantage of perfectly angled solar panels to reduce the energy-related carbon footprint at the resort.
Waste and Circularity
Our resort is committed to reducing waste production and reusing, recycling, and upcycling through programs like our signature upcycling, which creates crafts tokens from bottle corks. Additionally, our resort has eliminated single-use plastics from guest rooms without compromising amenities or quality. Water fill stations are installed at the restrooms near our Barn to encourage the use of reusable water bottles during your stay. In-room guest amenities such as combs and toothbrushes are made from wheat straw and packaged in barley paper.
The resort is a participant in the compost program in Napa Valley, which aims to reduce landfill impacts. The resort completes an annual waste audit to identify additional ways to reduce impacts.
Alila Napa Valley also offers 3 electric vehicle charging stations on-property, including 1 fast charger, equipped with adaptors to accommodate a variety of vehicles. EV chargers are available upon request and limited to guests of the hotel or guests visiting our restaurants or spa.
Responsible Sourcing
The resort gardens include apple trees, fig trees, citrus, lavender, rosemary and more seasonal flowers and herbs. These herbs are used for garnishes for Spa amenities, and the florals provide colorful accents for our Spa displays.
Our freshly grown lavender is used to bring the flavors of our signature Violetto cocktail to life—our Cucumber Lavender Lemonade.
About our Destination
Alila Napa Valley is a proud sponsor of the Vine Trail, a multi-use path that runs from St. Helena to Calistoga. Perfect for walkers, runners, and cyclists, the Vine Trail takes visitors on a scenic journey through Napa Valley vineyards and parks and into downtown Calistoga.
A portion of every stay at Alila Napa Valley is donated to the Vine Trail in support of more sustainable modes of transportation in the Napa Valley region.
