We had a wonderful experience at The Chatwal Lodge. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What truly made our stay exceptional, though, was the service. Sonia was incredibly helpful, attentive, and kind throughout our visit. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was seamless and that we felt genuinely taken care of. Her hospitality made a great stay even better. We can’t wait to return.

Amazing Vaction

Perfect, relaxing getaway where stress melts!! 
This time we brought our Grand Dog, Charley who was catered to by their wonderful staff! 
Our meals were delicious and Thanksgiving dinner was amazing!! 
Bear Cub room is spacious, with fireplace creating a cozy ambiance.

A true gem in a placid and peaceful setting with abundant natural beauty. Every aspect of our stay exceeded our expectations. Professional and courteous staff made this a delightful experience. We only enjoyed dinner due to the length of our stay- everything was delicious and prepared as desired -

Great on Every Level

Beautiful accommodations, but restaurant and activities were very underwhelming.  In fact, shockingly underwhelming given the charge.

Underwhelmed

Not great. We booked a mountain retreat with a lake, boating, fishing, cruises, swimming, and group social activities only to be greeted by a dried-up mud puddle with no boats, canoes, boat tours, fish, or swimming. The lodge was virtually empty, so the social activities were almost nonexistent, and the boat tours were cancelled. So it was 5 days of wandering the property with our only option of hiking in sweltering heat. The website guaranteed something that apparently hadn't been available for years, since the dam was in need of repair and they had to drain the lake. It was depressing as hell and expensive. Though we were repeatedly given the option of leaving the property to find a lake. That's not why we went to a lodge with one. It was an expensive, boring, long, and disappointing experience. They even changed the website to remove the lake and boating aspect midway through our stay.

Do Not Go. There is No Lake, Boating, Swimming, Fishing, BOat Tours and its Empty.

The lodge and rooms are one of a kind.  The stonework and woodwork are things to marvel at.  The included meals were very good.  I gave it only 3 stars for one reason - you cannot adjust your room temperature.  It is fixed at 68 degrees.  In our case it was even worse since it was mistakenly set at 62 degrees.   Some other comments:
No conveniently located outlets to charge smart devices.
The selection of "included" activities were a lot less than we expected given what we read on their website.

Very Interesting and unique rooms but no way to control temperature

We were looking for a friendly dog place to do a small weekend getaway. Chatwal lodge exceeded all our expectations. The resort is clean, relaxing and  comfortable. The room was a delight and the staff was very sweet and helpful. The food was great! I highly recommend!

Best short getaway!

The lodge is gorgeous (despite the pretty tacky decor) and very comfortably. There are basically zero activities or amenities to speak of. The hotel manager at the front desk is unhelpful, unresponsive, and has a bad attitude

Beautiful lodge, bad management

What an incredible experience, the service was top notch and we felt so well taken care of. All of the staff were so attentive and responsive and we enjoyed our weekend in the woods. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and we were very comfortable no matter where we were on the property.

Beautiful Weekend Getaway

Our stay overall was pleasant, but we expected a more luxurious experience overall given the price point of this location. The property itself fully leans in to the hunter lodge aesthetic (log cabin, fireplace, taxidermy, etc.). We got a suite which was quite comfy, but came short of a few basic things – we had to ask for water, tv wasn't working properly, and some of the complimentary snacks and beverage were past expiration. The commons areas themselves are probably overdue for some maintenance.
