At the Chatwal Lodge, the greatest luxury is the chance to simply be. Here, days are shaped by the gentle rhythms of nature and evenings by the fire under a canopy of stars. While we do offer daily activities for those who wish to explore, many of our guests find the true magic in slowing down, savoring the moment and letting the stillness of the Catskills become the experience itself.
To book one of our daily activities, please find our list of offerings here.
The Chapin Estate is home to all manner of woodland residents—furry, feathered, winged, and a few who prefer to slither. We believe in living alongside them with care and respect—so if a bat swoops by at dusk or a spider makes a quiet appearance, take a breath and remember: you’re in the woods now. Porcupines, groundhog, foxes, and black bears can also be found here: they don’t mind being photographed from a distance, but please don’t feed them. While we do our best to keep your space serene and spotless, members of our hardworking insect community occasionally like to say hello.
At present, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is overseeing necessary repairs to the aging dam at the Toronto Reservoir. As part of this effort, the water levels have been drawn down more than anticipated, significantly affecting lake views and on-property water activities. As a result, lakefront activities are currently suspended here at The Chatwal Lodge. However, we are pleased to offer alternative boating and fishing experiences at nearby lakes and streams. We appreciate your patience during this time and remain committed to making your stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
We are thrilled to welcome local diners and visiting friends for meals. To protect the privacy and comfort of all staying guests, our guestrooms are exclusively for registered overnight guests.
