FAQs

What is the anticipated timeline of the South Parcel redevelopment project?

The project began in March 2025 with a completion expected late 2027.

What areas of the resort will the redevelopment impact?

The project will focus on the South Parcel of the resort, which includes the lakeside cottages, lakeside event space, restaurants, and private beach. Although these accommodations and amenities will not be available during the redevelopment, guests will continue to have many options to experience Hyatt amenities and services at the North Parcel of the resort.

What areas of the resort will still be open to guests and the community?

The North Parcel, which includes the main tower of the resort, will be open to enjoy including Stillwater Spa, Grand Lodge Casino, and dining at Osteria Sierra, Cutthroat's Saloon, and Tahoe Provisions. Overnight guests will also have access to our pool, hot tubs, fitness facilities, North Parcel event spaces, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, the Adventures program, and in-room dining.

What is planned for the design of the new place?

The project aims to modernize the resort by enhancing the overall guest experience, facilities, and services. The design includes 11 cottages and a reduction in the number of keys from 48 to 22, allowing for a more balanced and elevated luxury guest experience. The full-service restaurant and banquet hall will be updated with new finishes, modern amenities, and a design that more seamlessly integrates with the cottages and landscaping. While the site and structures will maintain their current functions, our main focus is to transform the guest experience, ensuring an exceptional stay for all future guests. Attention is paid to welcoming lakefront views, an emphasis on natural finishes, and lush gardens and landscaping that further connect the space to its serene surroundings. The dining and living experience will fully embrace Lake Tahoe's iconic indoor/outdoor soul.

Will the public be able to enjoy the new restaurant?

Yes, upon completion of the redevelopment of the South Parcel, the new restaurant will be open to the public.

Will the restaurant be a Nobu?

We are exploring various options to determine a new restaurant partner.

Will the public pier at the South Parcel be closed?

The public pier will be closed, however, Lake Tahoe Luxury Boat Rentals, a Hyatt partner, will continue to offer boat rentals with transportation provided to and from the pier for confirmed reservations.

How many new cottages will be created and what other types of amenities will be available?

It is planned to redevelop 11 of the 12 existing cottages, a new restaurant, and event and meeting spaces. The number of suites in each cottage will be reduced from four to two.

Will there be any condos?

No, there will be no condos. Similar to previous uses, the redeveloped cottages are planned to be utilized by hotel guests and will not be condos.

With the beach at the South Parcel closed during redevelopment, how will Hyatt guests be able to enjoy the Beach?

A shuttle service to the nearby Incline Beach and Burnt Cedar Beach will be available for hotel guests. This is planned to operate from Memorial Day through Labor Day. For hotel guests, we will also have a robust menu of recreational activities at our heated pool, as well as several opportunities through our Tahoe Adventures programming including kayaks and stand-up paddle boards for guests to enjoy throughout this time. For more information about beach access, please visit IVGID website at https://www.yourtahoeplace.com/?s=FAQ.

How will the redevelopment activities be managed to minimize disruptions to the neighbors and businesses near the property?

The project team and Hyatt staff are committed to being good neighbors. The redevelopment will be guided by all County and TRPA regulatory requirements. To reduce impact, offsite contractor parking will be located approximately one mile away from the site, with carpool mandates. Only limited construction vehicles will be allowed directly to the site on an exception basis. In general, work will be conducted Mon. through Fri. with some activity occurring on the weekends as necessary.

What will you do to protect the Lake from water drainage during the redevelopment project?

The redevelopment will be guided by all County and TRPA regulatory requirements. A temporary Best Management Practices (BMP) plan will be implemented including sediment protection, erosion control, and silt fencing. Extra measures are also being taken to provide more protection for the trees. In addition, the snow removal will be managed by shoveling and piling onsite.

How will the redevelopment improve the water quality of Lake Tahoe?

Upon project completion, there will be enhanced landscaping with native plants and permanent BMPs. To support multi-modal travel, there will be a connection to pedestrian paths and shuttle routes. Vehicular circulation and parking improvements are also being planned.

How will the project help the local and regional economy?

In addition to the economic activity and jobs that will be generated during redevelopment, there will be an annual infusion into the local economy via transient occupancy and sales tax, jobs and visitor incremental spending. The redevelopment is also expected to help inspire new and upgraded business revitalization in and around the area.

Will the pool still be open?

Yes, the pool will offer elevated poolside service with an expanded summer food and drink menu, as well as additional family-friendly activities, and ice cream cart, and more.

I am planning a wedding and wanted to host it on your beach. What should I do now?

While our beach will be closed to guests during the redevelopment, we offer several premier wedding venues that highlight our beautiful location here in North Lake Tahoe, including our Water Gardens and Creekside Lawn. A member of our event planning team will be happy to speak with you to customize a beautiful wedding day based on your preferences.

Will you continue to provide lake activities through Lake Tahoe Luxury Boat Rentals?

As our beach and pier will be closed to the public during the redevelopment, Lake Tahoe Luxury Boat Rentals will continue to offer premium boat rentals and private charters during the summer season with transportation to and from the pier for confirmed reservations.

Since the beach access will be closed, what other amenities will be provided?

We are enhancing our recreational schedule of activities including family-friendly activities and culinary experiences to continue to provide an unforgettable getaway to North Lake Tahoe during this time.
