    Loved the Hyatt

I really enjoyed my stay! The rooms were clean and quiet, the staff was warm and helpful, and the light rail made getting to the airport a breeze. Excellent value for the price, and I’d happily stay here again!

    Under staffed

The bed was hard and the lounge food took over 2 hours. Then came out and could tell been sitting under the warmer for a while. Had 1 bartender trying to handle a 100+ people ordering food and drinks after a Vikings game. Condiments containers were all melted and sauce spilled all over stuff. Management wasn’t even apologetic or concerned about the service.

Tina, we are sorry the service you described left you waiting so long for food. After a Vikings game, a long wait can take the ease out of an evening. Your comments about the food service and your room’s comfort have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

    Scary entry/Cold Water/NO POOL/ $500 a night

Pool is closed forever but the site still advertises as operational. Maint guy helped himself into my room while I was out for breakfast. My underage daughter and her friends were still sleeping in there and awakened by him entering their room. Scary. I had no hot water and the room was $500/night. Not sure what for. All around awful. Front desk staff was very helpful. Blame goes to management for allowing this standard practice of workers entering the room without being let in by guests.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Minneapolis/Downtown, responded to this review

We are sorry to hear that your stay did not meet expectations and understand your concern regarding the room-entry situation. Our records indicate that maintenance entered the room in response to a service request that had been placed, and our team attended as requested. We regret that the timing of the visit caused discomfort for your party. We would also like to clarify that our pool has been permanently closed since March 2026 and has been removed from our website and other booking channels. We are not aware of any current advertising indicating that the pool remains operational. We appreciate your positive comments regarding our front desk team and apologize for the issues you experienced with hot water during your stay. Your feedback has been shared with the appropriate teams as we continue working to improve the guest experience.

    Great Place for a Visit

Just spent 4 nights at the Hyatt Place Downtown Minneapolis. We loved the location. We could walk to many sites and restaurants. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. Housekeeping did a great job. we opted in for their services 2 out of 4 days. The lobby was welcoming and we were able to get drinks and food when we wanted. The Big TV projector was great for watching football.

We are glad the projector added to your football watching, too. We would love to host you again on your next visit!

Very convenient to downtown, not Hyatt quality

We stayed for one night, surprising our kids with a trip to a baseball game. The location is nearly ideal for catching the light rail. There is parking on site ($30, underground) but our short bed truck barely made it out. FYI. The room we were in (414) was large and fit our family of 5.. but was very poorly maintained. The lamp was duct taped together, the bathroom ceiling had water damage, there were large scrapes on the wallpaper, many stains on the floor with carpet feeling sticky, and the sofa/bed was very worn out and extremely uncomfortable. I have stayed in budget hotels which were cared for much better than this room. Since our visit was a surprise outing and for one night, I asked if there was a room upgrade. The front desk representative told me to go outside, book online, and forgo my reservation if I wanted a different room. I did not hear about parking at check in (we were in a rush, trying to catch first pitch) but at check out when I asked the office staff at that time told me I was already told about it, but "I can tell you again". I felt like I was an inconvenience and not a guest. The breakfast was good, plenty of options plus GF bread. There is no longer a pool. We have stayed at this specific Hyatt Place several times over the last 11 years, and this will be our last without any updates or discussions with management. The hotel is not kept up, the staff we interacted with did not have the level of customer service I am accustomed to, and broken windows in the entrance made me reconsider safety at this hotel location.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Minneapolis/Downtown, responded to this review

We are sorry that the condition of your room overshadowed a special one night baseball outing with your children. A room with maintenance concerns and an uncomfortable sofa bed is not the setting we want for a family celebration, and we understand why this visit was especially disappointing after so many stays with us. Your concerns about room upkeep, service communication, and the entrance have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. We are glad breakfast, including the gluten free bread, provided one bright spot during your visit. We appreciate you bringing this experience to our attention and understand your desire for a direct conversation with management.

    Needs updates

Hotel is in need of updating. Room smelled musty and furniture needs replacing. Ceilings in the lobby were water stained. People in the front entrance begging for money. Complimentary breakfast was ok.

    Unkempt and dirty rooms

We came to Minneapolis for a concert on a Saturday night. The location is wonderful if attending an event at U.S. Bank Stadium. Outside of the location, there wasn’t much to like about the hotel, unfortunately. As other commenters have said, Parking at the hotel is a bit of a hassle, as it’s all underneath the hotel in very tight quarters. The hotel lobby requires an elevator trip, which, and as you can imagine after a sports event or concert, Waiting for the elevator can be upwards of 45 minutes to an hour. My biggest complaint with the hotel, though was the unsanitary conditions throughout. We stayed at a room on the lobby level, and the hallway between the lobby and the room smelled of urine. Upon entering the room, we were greeted with a musty, smoke-like smell. There is a unflushed toilet and a candy wrapper greeting us in the bedroom on the ground. I question how thoroughly the cleaning staff tries here. Our biggest complaint was the quality of bed and dirty sheets. The beds themselves are in dire need of replacement, and sag in the middle, and do not provide much support. I’ve included pictures of the sheets, which had brown and red dots throughout. I imagine they are old stains, And since the hotel was “at capacity”, we decided to just sleep without one of the sheets. Overall, I think there are a lot better options in the downtown area to stay.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Minneapolis/Downtown, responded to this review

Mike, thank you for choosing us for your visit to Minneapolis and for taking the time to share these thorough observations. We are sorry your experience was disappointing, outside of the convenience of our location. The cleanliness and maintenance concerns you described in your room and surrounding areas are not at all the impression we want anyone to take from a stay. Your comments will be directed to our housekeeping and engineering teams so they can address the issues you encountered and ensure our standards are being met. The parking situation and elevator delays you mentioned are also important, and our Guest Relations team will review your feedback closely. We appreciate your candor, and we are grateful for the opportunity to improve.

    Great stay (no pool)

Nice hotel near US Bank Stadium. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning worked well and room was clean. Wish the pool was still there, but it is permanently closed.

Terrible, no pool/hot tubs as advertised.

Was very disappointed in my stay as the main reason we chose this hotel specifically was the pool/hot tubs and they are permanently closed even though they were advertised as having them even had pictures of them. The staff other than James that worked the front desk when we arrived and the breakfast staff and cleaning staff were the only staff to even acknowledge us. The other front desk staff were too busy on their phones with earbuds in to even care.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Dan. We’re sorry your stay did not meet expectations. Our pool and hot tubs have been closed for several months, and we have communicated this to incoming guests and removed them from our current website listings. We also apologize if the level of service from some of our front desk team fell short of what you expected. Your feedback is appreciated and will be shared with our team.

I love to stay at this hotel

I love this hotel. We booked a room at 10 pm because of a flight issue. When we got there James said there was an issue with our room earlier in the week. Maintenance looked at it but he didn't want to take a chance, so he gave us an upgrade. It is hard to see from the street but the hotel is quiet, the beds are great and the shades block out all the sunlight. Truly a gem in Minneapolis.

Outdated Amenities and No Practical Charging Support

Stayed here recently and would not choose this hotel again. Late at night, I needed to charge my phone and laptop. The front desk employee was polite, but instead of helping me find a working charging option in the hotel, I was directed to a nearby convenience store. The lobby computer area also had an incorrect password posted, so I couldn’t use that option to charge my MacBook. I ultimately had to go to a nearby hotel that allowed me to charge my devices. The property also feels dated from a technology standpoint. The room and common areas relied on older USB ports and standard outlets, with no USB-C charging options available. For a downtown hotel, I expected more modern amenities and better support for travelers who rely on current devices. Because of this experience, I would not stay here again.

    Philip M,

    June 2026

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Minneapolis/Downtown, responded to this review

Philip, thank you for describing your experience in such detail. We are truly sorry that your visit was disrupted by challenges with charging options for your devices and by the technology limitations you encountered around the property. It is clear this caused significant inconvenience, and we recognize how important reliable and current charging solutions are for travelers today. Your comments about the guidance you received at the desk and the difficulties in both your room and common areas have been shared with both our Guest Relations and engineering teams. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the lobby computer area so this can be addressed directly. Thank you again for providing such thoughtful feedback. We are grateful for the opportunity to improve.

    Great location downtown hotel

Great location downtown. Not a lot of dining options downtown at night. Very close to the Armory. Bar closes very early. Breakfast was the strong point. Good food with lots of choices and plenty of food. Clean nice hotel. A few things seem dated and beds were a little worn out. Would probably stay again.
