  • We are a Earth Check certified member, dedicated towards environmental sustainability performance, and working towards certification in 2024.
  • We are BREEAM Excellent certified, showcasing our dedication to sustainable building practices. This award-winning commitment sets the stage for an exceptional stay where every detail is crafted with the environment and your well-being in mind.
  • We use Hyatt EcoTrack to track sustainability metrics including greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, waste & recycling. Our data is independently verified by our ESG partners Earth Check and Omnevue.
  • Our Hotel was the first Hotel globally to receive the Gold Certificate from Active Score for the well-being and active living services we provide our team and guests.
  • In 2023 we proudly became the first London based and first Hyatt hotel to be awarded SHe Travel Club Platinum status, recognising the services we provide to empower secure and safe travel experiences for women.
  • Our rooms have been accredited a AirScore™ Gold Certification. The AirScore™ is AirRated™ leading certification for indoor air quality, and a Gold rating endorses the exceptional indoor environment we have curated for all our guests – supporting a great night’s sleep.
  • Our hotel is currently working towards accreditation with ISO 14001 & Well Certified.

Carbon Emissions and Water

  • Our hotel has a commitment to purchase only 100% green energy for both Electricity and Gas.
  • Complimentary filtered water taps & infused water stations in lobby spaces reduce single-bottle use.
  • Plastic bottles are replaced with glass bottles, preventing the disposal of over 2000 plastic water bottles per week.
  • All in room mini-bars are meaningfully switched off allowing our guests to choose to use them. Cooling the planet one ‘switch off’ at a time.
  • The building's sustainable design and construction result in significant eco-friendly benefits, such as:
  • Energy use intensity benchmark 21% lower than the average for all UK hotels. *Sustainability hospitality alliance (2021).
  • Our hotel is presently on the Net Zero Pathway (NZC) with alignment to CREMM2 targets.
  • Use of combined heat and power systems (CHP) to generate power and heat to generate hot water.
  • Energy-efficient A-label elevators.
  • Public area and guest rooms fitted with LED and motion sensor lights to minimize energy consumption.
  • All guest bedrooms fitted with building management system technology that controls energy consumption with occupancy.
  • We actively promote biodiversity including the rewilding of flat roof outbuildings, bird boxes installed on upper floors, and introduction of external green walls within our landscaping.

Waste and Circularity

  • We have a commitment to eliminate the use of single use plastics.
  • We recycle unused water from events into plant care.
  • Waste separation is in place for all guest rooms and events.
  • Kitchen waste is controlled and reported.
  • We participate in the Too Good To Go program where local residents can collect excess food that would otherwise be discarded.
  • In our restrooms, we use 100% recycled paper products.
  • All paper is of a recycled material and recycled itself.
  • 100% of our waste proudly diverted from landfill sites.

Our Food Philosophy

  • We are committed to work with Klimato helping us to reduce our climate impact from food. Calculating, communicating the climate impact of the food we serve.
  • We think plant-based is a must, not an alternative. Over 50% of our menus are vegan, vegetarian, or can be made so. Including partnerships with local vegan suppliers.
  • We adhere to responsible sourcing by using only MSC certified seafood, free-range chicken and eggs, local grass-fed beef, and supporting local businesses. 
  • Our fish sourcing is exclusively line-caught, primarily from the local South coast or North Sea. We follow a nose-to-tail policy, buying whole fish and utilizing as much as possible to minimise waste.
  • Our food is transparent and are 100% natural, sourced as locally as possible to reduce footprint.
  • We partner with Tupinamba coffee to provide a coffee in all our premium guest rooms that is endorsed by WWF, and being 100% compostable pods.
  • Our cleaning practices are environmentally friendly, using only eco-certified cleaning products.
  • We offer KenetMD Signature collection amenities in all guest rooms. Always free of parabens, phthalates and are Vegan.

Sustainable Suggestions for your City Break

Hyatt Place London City East is located in the heart of East London, short travel to London Stratford and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the heritage of Victoria Park. There are plenty of cycle and walking routes to explore locally.

  • It doesn’t get much greener than exploring London on one of our hotel Brompton bikes. Available for hire from reception on a first come basis.
  • Bringing your own Cycle? In need of some technical support? There are a number of cycle repair stores locally. The hotel also offers cycle storage racks for our guests located towards the rear of the property, along with accessible parking bays for ease of access.
  • If you are looking for cycle routes, and to take in the scenery during your London City break - there are some great and inspiration routes here.
  • Wanting more of an active travel experience on foot? There are some equally amazing running routes here, or hiking routes of London here.
