  • Our Go To Hotel

    We have stayed at the Hyatt Place in West Des Moines a number of times prior to our most recent stay in August of 2025. The staff are always gracious and accommodating. Plus, the beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are always clean. We will stay here again when we need a hotel.

  • To much moisture

    I stayed in this same hotel in July of 2025 and had a good experience but this time (August 2025) we were on the first floor and our room was so wet feeling. The carpet felt wet and the sheets and bath towels felt damp and moist!

  • Gave away our room, then gave us keys to an occupied room.

    After driving for 12 hours on a cross country trip, we arrived in the evening with 3 kids, only to find that our 2 queen plus fold out couch room was not available. The front desk staff said that they had overbooked and did not have a room that would fit the 5 of us. They offered us a king room, but with 5 people that was not going to work. After an hour in the lobby with our kids, they let us know that there was in fact a double queen available. When we used the keys to enter our room, it was occupied. Finally, we accepted the king room since the alternative was to get back on the road and find another hotel and crammed all 5 of us in there. So not only will this hotel overbook and not hold your reservation, but if you do get a room be prepared to have other guests visit your room at night!

  • Hesitate before booking

    This location is desperately in need of a deep clean and an update. Stained floors, uncomfortable bedding, and literal cockroaches.

  • Don't expect any help from the front desk help.

    Rooms are nice but the front desk help are not helpful. Be on guard. The free breakfast was equal to the price. For a Hyatt, this property was not the best. Perhaps corporate management will take note? The Pritzkers must not care about this property.

  • 1 star service

    Called the front desk for linen for the pull out couch and they said you can come get them at the front desk great service 😂.. not what you are expecting when you check in at a hotel. I was expecting better service especially from a newer hotel. I will definitely be checking other hotels in 2 weeks when we come back

  • Great business trip

    Very comfortable, clean and accommodating. Definitely will come back next trip to DSM. Friendly staff including for very late check-in the first night. Breakfast looked good but I had business plans. Absolutely enjoy the sitting area in the room for work and relaxation.

  • Clean, Comfortable, with Great Location!

    4.5 out of 5 stars Overall good experience and great value! My room was clean and comfortable. Larger than typical TV and couch. I liked the fresh fruit at breakfast. The choices weren't as vast as other hotels, but it was sufficient. Location: Great location near lots of restaurants and shopping. Safe feeling neighborhood. Noise: The walls were thin and you could hear people in the halls, however, with the room fan on constant, it was enough to block it out for sleeping.

  • 3-3 on nice stays here

    This hotel is in a wonderful area, West Des Moines, with tons of shopping and restaurants. We were there for a high school competition. Hotel has plenty of parking, it's a really nice option and the prices are good. Room (2 queen with small sofa area) on a higher floor was what I asked for. Three times we've stayed here and each time has been really positive. Breakfast options were fine, too: eggs, sausage, cereals, breads, etc.

  • Bare minimum

    The hotel looks promising from the front and main entrance. The room didn't quite live up to expectation. There wasnt any decent lighting in the room. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. The uneven tiles and bubbled wall paper indicated poor remodel or unskilled builders. The icing on the cake was the cockroach i found in the bathroom. Won't be revisiting this hotel.
