The hotel was good. There were a few things like the lack of coffee making facilities in the room and no glasses or complimentary water on arrival which was a bit of a surprise for a hotel of this calibre.
The location of Hyatt Grand Central is incredible, making it a convenient home base for exploring New York City. Unfortunately, the hotel itself has some issues that need attention. Small rooms are often expected in NYC, but given the cost of staying at this hotel, Hyatt should consider several improvements. The air-conditioning system needs upgrading to prevent condensation from forming throughout the room, and the bathrooms need attention, particularly when it comes to mold. Other relatively simple improvements would make a significant difference in the guest experience. While the hotel provides a $15 daily credit for purchases at its market, an in-room coffee maker would be a welcome convenience for guests who prefer to enjoy their first cup of coffee without having to get dressed and take an elevator downstairs. Accessible charging ports on both sides of the bed would also be helpful, as would complimentary bottled water. At the very least, water and snack vending machines near the ice machines on each floor would offer guests a convenient alternative to visiting the market. The location is certainly the hotel's greatest asset, but guests paying these rates should be able to expect better room amenities, maintenance, and overall comfort, particularly when the hotel is also charging an additional resort fee.
This hotel is very run down and overdue for renovation of the rooms. Our room was very hot and humid even with outside temps in the 50's. The carpet was wet and the room isn't very clean or well prepared.
Good location! Close to many New York attractions. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Great choice of staying in New York City.
To celebrate my 60th birthday, my wife and I spent a week in NY Manhattan and stayed in the Hyatt Grand Central. It was a great experience with staff always ready to assist. An initial issue with no hot water for the shower was remedied by being given an upgraded room. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring Manhattan and all that it has to offer including Broadway, Grand Central Station, Times Square and easy access to the subway and to other sites. We visited the 9/11 Museum, Empire State Building and the Rockefeller Centre as well. Even basic drinks (water/coffee/tea) in the hotel were expensive but the hotel offers a $15 a day voucher for use which was great. The concierge assistance was much needed on our last day when our shuttle bus provider to get to JFK phoned requesting we walk to a meeting place. The door man outside told them in no uncertain terms to get themselves to the hotel to pick us up! Which he did (albeit on foot to walk us to the minibus).

The check-in experience was easy and the customer service representatives were very friendly. The room was adequate for a short stay but was a little small for an extended stay. The location of the hotel was really nice

Location is perfect for transit needs, but attracts a large number of panhandlers. Hotel lobby is large and has many seating options, if you’re waiting for a taxi/uber/etc. after check-out. Our room was small, and finishes were not up to standard - wallpaper cuts not clean, wall anchors visible from previous art. But the bed and bedding were very comfortable, and the thermostat was responsive. Unfortunately our hotel neighbors were not considerate, and the fumes from their smoke were conspicuous. Staff were kind and gracious. We were afforded both and early check-in and late check-out. Housekeeping were attentive. If you need a place to stay that is convenient to Mid-town, Broadway, and Grand Central, this is perfect. If you expect your $$ to go towards luxury, you may have better options.

Front desk person was rude, made it seem like globalists that stay at this hotel In The suites were more important than us even though we’re paying the same price. She said they can check out until 4 even though our room is supposed to be ready by 4? I had to ask a manger to come over to get us a room. We had two kids under 4. Bathrooms also not that clean, room was rushed to us. Staff overall not helpful on the phones too

I checked in for a multi-night stay in the evening, looking forward to a good night's sleep before officiating a wedding the next day. Unfortunately, my sleep was repeatedly disrupted the very next morning due to oversight by the staff. First, I was jarred awake at 6:00 AM by the bedside clock radio alarm, which had been set by a previous guest. This was very irritating on its own as I've never had that happen before, but I was willing to look past it as a single oversight. After a difficult time falling back asleep due to nerves about the day ahead, I was disturbed again at 10:30 AM by a phone call from housekeeping, despite having the Do Not Disturb sign prominently displayed on my door. The sign was even acknowledged in the phone call that woke me when I was offered more towels, meaning it is standard practice to call guests before even a full day has passed, regardless if their DND sign is up or not. A hotel's primary job is to provide a peaceful night's sleep, and on the most important night for me, that was the only service I cared about. I could have stayed somewhere far cheaper and slept much better, and will do so in the future.
