Sustainability
Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay has made a commitment to support our local ecosystem through environmental initiatives. Our efforts have resulted in the hotel obtaining the Green Key Global certification. We are proud to advance positive change in our community and to share with guests the efforts we put into sustainability and local environmental causes.
Thriving Destination
Our culinary team joined forces with Tampa Bay “Shells for Shore” initiative, a community driven program which aims at protecting and restoring the bay’s ecosystems. Leftover shells from Oystercatchers restaurant are given a new purpose–to fight climate change. In 2025, the program recycled and donated 2,957 pounds of oyster shells. Oyster shells are used to make Oyster Garden’s (VOG’s) which are placed beneath the Oystercatcher’s boat dock. These innovative hanging structures create an optimal environment for young oysters–or “Spat”–to attach, grow and flourish while providing a haven for a multitude of other marine species. Aside from enhancing biodiversity, they enhance water quality by naturally filtering the water and improving the health of the environment.

Climate Change and Water Conservation
Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay is committed to lessening our impact on the climate through water and energy conservations efforts in guestrooms and public areas. We utilize energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the hotel to cut down on electricity usage, and our low-flow water fixtures and linen-less buffet tables help us conserve water.
Our voluntary towel reuse program empowers guests to make environmentally conscious choices during their stay, reusing their guestroom towels to cut back on laundry services when possible.

Waste and Circularity
We’ve taken deliberate steps to cut down on food waste and reduce our reliance on single-use items across our food and beverage operations. Sparkling water systems replaced bottled alternatives, and plastic straws and utensils were phased out in favor of alternative choices. Our hotel also recycles an array of materials to prevent unnecessary waste, including glass, cardboard, steel, and copper. In partnership with Faith Cafe, fruits and vegetables are given a second life and meaningful purpose—to feed local families facing difficult circumstances. Through thoughtful action and collaboration, we proved that even small changes can have a big impact.

Responsible Sourcing
As part of our commitment to sustainability and the use of locally sourced foods, we strengthened our partnership with Brick Street Farm through their “Seed to Order” initiative. Grown just miles away, our microgreens are planted on a weekly basis dependent on our business needs, reducing waste and ensuring peak freshness for every service. Their reusable soil trays also support our sustainability goals, making our usage waste-free.
Our oysters are freshly grown by Grand Batture Oysters from Sandy Bay, Alabama and harvested weekly based on hotel needs. This allows us to ensure oysters are as fresh as possible while allowing the oyster reefs time to recover and regrow
