Udvar Hazy Center: Air and Space Museum

Hyatt House Sterling is ideally located less than six miles from the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. A staple of DC’s renowned Smithsonian museums, the Udvar-Hazy Center is a companion facility of the National Air and Space Museum. View over 300 aircraft, large space artifacts and astronaut gear. From a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird to the space shuttle Discovery, the Udvar-Hazy Center has it all. The Donald D. Engen Observation Tower gives you a 360-degree bird’s eye view of Dulles Airport and the Sterling, VA metro. Daily tours and educational activities prove entertaining for children and adults. Watch real-life specialists reconstruct, repair, and preserve aircraft in the plane restoration center. Open daily from 10:00am to 5:30pm, the Udvar-Hazy Center offers free admission for all.

George Mason University

Located in Fairfax, Virginia, this highly regarded institution is the largest public research university in the state. Over 33,000 students are enrolled at the school, which offers strong programs in business, computer science, creative writing, law and economics. George Mason University's 677-acre campus features a large concert hall, student union building, plus indoor and outdoor sports stadiums. The sports teams of George Mason University are known as the George Mason Patriots, and the athletes compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Sports at the school include rowing, lacrosse, golf, soccer, baseball, basketball and swimming.

Sully Historic Site

Explore local history at the Sully Historic Site in Chantilly, more commonly known as Sully Plantation. This 18th century plantation home is only a 10 minute drive from the Hyatt House Sterling Dulles Airport North. Built in 1794, Sully was originally the country home of Richard Bland and Elizabeth Collins Lee. Sully was home for several more families after 1811, including during the Civil War.
