Park Hyatt New York proudly presents guests and locals with another rotating art exhibition by local contemporary abstract artist and hotel bellman for nine years, Jeffrey Okyere-Agyei.
Okyere-Agyei's fourth exhibit is titled “Sankofa” and is currently on display at the iconic Park Hyatt New York for all to see. Sankofa is a Ghanaian Akan/Twi word and symbol originating from Okyere-Agyei's native country that represents the idea of gathering wisdom and learning from the past to create a better present and future. Sankofa is part of a collection of symbols known as Adinkra created by Ghanaian craftsmen used extensively in textiles and pottery.
The “Sankofa" art collection is a cohesive and visually mesmerizing compilation of modern abstract art and Ghanaian cloth prints that pays homage to the past while expressing the creativity of the artist. With rich Ghanaian prints and themes, Okyere-Agyei highlights his connection to his Ghanaian heritage while simultaneously representing an important cultural bridge between traditional African art and modern abstract expressionism. Each piece is a visual depiction of the artist’s life and experience showing the intricate connection between art and culture.
“My goal with this collection is to express my unique vision of creativity, thus further strengthening my connection between my love of abstract art and my African heritage,” says Okyere-Agyei. “To be able to continue to tell my story to the guests of Park Hyatt New York, a place crucial to my personal journey is incredibly humbling.”
Last fall, the hotel presented Okyere-Agyei's “TeRa-NiSeR ToTeMs,” which was also inspired by the artist’s upbringing in Ghana.
“As part of what has become a tradition within the Park Hyatt New York family, we’re excited to feature yet another impressive and personal collection from Jeffrey, while also providing a unique and immersive experience to our guests,” said Park Hyatt New York General Manager, Laurent Ebzant. “It’s an honor to witness Jeffrey’s process as he creates such thought-provoking art that celebrates his native Ghanaian culture, and it’s our pleasure to continue to share his talent with all who walk through our doors. We look forward to seeing what else he has in store for Park Hyatt New York and our guests.”
“Sankofa” will be on display at Park Hyatt New York’s ground-level Avenue Gallery and in The Living Room through the end of December 2023.
Park Hyatt New York, the luxury five-star urban oasis located in the heart of Midtown and within steps of New York City’s most iconic landmarks and destinations, announces the refresh of its Bryte Restorative Sleep Suites featuring Bryte Balance™, the next-generation version of The Restorative Bed™ by Bryte, as its centerpiece.
Perfectly timed for Sleep Awareness Week and the start of Daylight Savings Time, the National Sleep Foundation’s annual campaign to raise awareness of sleep as a crucial measure of overall health, Park Hyatt New York’s refresh of the Bryte Restorative Sleep Suite is in keeping with the hotel’s focus on catering to the growing desire of guests for personalized in-suite wellness amenities and curated luxury experiences.
Like each of the award-winning hotel’s 92 suites, the residential-style, one-bedroom Bryte Restorative Sleep Suites are a sanctuary of comfort and function, as well as a serene haven thoughtfully designed to buffer guests from New York City’s notable ongoing and energetic ambiance.
Introduced in late 2022, the Bryte Balance takes the concept of a better night’s sleep to a level all its own. Powered with Restorative Intelligence, the king-size bed offers Somnify™, a multi-sensory relaxation experience that synchronizes calming sleep-inducing sounds with soothing motions to ease the mind into a peaceful state and help guests fall asleep faster, as well as a Rebalancing™ system that continually orchestrates personalized support and comfort via a matrix of intelligent cushions to minimize waking episodes.
Bryte Balance also has Dual Comfort Tailoring™, enabling sleepers to personalize support settings on each side of the bed for tailored comfort according to their personal needs and preferences. Come morning, cocktail hour, meeting time, or whenever a guest needs to rise, the Silent Wake Assist feature begins gradual movement beneath the sleeper 15 minutes before the guest’s preferred wake time, ensuring they rise pleasantly rather than via the startling jolt of an alarm clock.
“We’re thrilled to be engaged with Bryte anew and able to invite guests to enjoy a truly personalized and transformational restorative sleep experience through the leader in restorative sleep technology,” said Laurent Ebzant, General Manager of the Park Hyatt New York. “Whether they’re fighting off jet lag, returning from a night on the town, or catching some ‘z’s’ between meetings and events, the Bryte Restorative Sleep Suites provide guests with a technologically-advanced, luxury wellness experience that can benefit their health in terms of both mind and body.”
Along with partial Central Park views, the Restorative Sleep Suites are outfitted with a king-size bed, one-and-a-half bath, 900 sq. ft. of space, and a separate living room, sleep-enhancing amenities such as a Vitruvi Essential Diffuser and signature “Sleep” Essential Oil blend, Nollapelli Linens, sleeping masks, and a collection of sleep-related books.
Guests planning to return to Park Hyatt New York, or that have their own Bryte Balance at home, can easily save their sleep preferences and utilize the Bryte app on their personal smartphone to tap into their saved settings anywhere there is a Bryte mattress.
Starting rates for the Bryte Sleep Suites at Park Hyatt New York begin at $1,095.00.

Park Hyatt New York proudly presents guests and locals with its latest art collection created by Jeffrey Okyere-Agyei, a contemporary abstract artist and bellman at the hotel.
“TeRa-NiSeR ToTeMs” is inspired by Okyere-Agyei's upbringing in Ghana, where totems are a large part of the physical symbology passed down through generations. Ghana is one of many cultures across the world that have totems embedded in their history through artifacts and storytelling. These totems possess spirits of animals, plants, and various other entities associated with their ancestors.
“I have always been intrigued by ancient mythical artifacts and have found their relevance to the human story fascinating,” said Okyere-Agyei. “TeRa-NiSeR ToTeMs has become my creative interpretation of one aspect of our human history, modern art, and its spiritual symbology as a way to connect the past to the present. With the use of resin and vibrant color pigments, each piece has a unique mystical reverence about it.”
This is Okyere-Agyei's third collection at Park Hyatt New York. Last fall, the hotel presented “EDIFICE,” an abstract interpretation of New York City’s incredible scapes and famous city skyline. In September 2019, Okyere-Agyei displayed his first Park Hyatt New York exhibit, “Future Art for the Present,” which reflected his love of movement in nature, space, and geometry. The artist’s latest installation will be featured starting September 13 and will be commemorated with a launch event in the hotel’s restaurant, The Living Room, on October 6. TeRa-NiSeR ToTeMs will be on display at Park Hyatt New York’s ground-level Avenue Gallery and in The Living Room through the end of March 2023.
“We’re thrilled to be featuring another impressive collection from Jeffrey. As his last exhibit at the hotel focused on New York City, this latest display visualizes his home country of Ghana, demonstrating both Jeffrey’s dexterity as an artist as well as the overarching theme of this city as a home for a diversity of cultures that span across the globe. Just as art is an indelible aspect of the design of Park Hyatt New York, Jeffrey is an invaluable contributor to the hotel’s character and grace,” said Laurent Ebzant, General Manager for Park Hyatt New York.
This collection features original pieces by emerging artist and Park Hyatt New York colleague, Jeffrey Okyere-Agyei and will be on view at Park Hyatt New York’s ground-level Avenue Gallery through March 2023.
