Tampa Bay Lightning
Often referred to as the Bolts, the Tampa Bay Lighting are a professional ice hockey team and members of the NHL’s Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. They play their home games in the Amalie Arena located less than 10 miles from the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay Rays
Based in St. Petersburg, the Tampa Bay Rays is a member of the MLB American League East division. The Rays began their MLB play in 1998, and as of 2008 have been strong contenders for the ultimate title, gaining postseason berths in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
The Tampa Yankees are a minor league baseball team and Class A-Advanced affiliate of the New York Yankees. They play their home games at George M. Steinbrenner Field, which is a miniature reproduction of the old Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Caladesi Island State Park
Considered among the nation's best beaches, Caladesi Island State Park is a barrier island nestled between the bay and Gulf of Mexico. Hike through three miles of nature trails. Kayak among the mangroves. Dock your boat at the 108-slip marina. There is a gift shop, bathhouse and picnic pavilions. Take the ferry service over to the island and spot dolphins as they escort the boat into the marina.
Lowry Park Zoo
Discover 1,600 animals at this Tampa zoo. Enter the free flight aviary, filled with more than 50 bird species. Meander along the Florida Boardwalk to see if you can spot the stingrays. Or snap a picture of the colorful flamingos.
