Good location but room facilities could be improved
The location of the hotel was great , very convenient and close to everything we needed. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. The bathroom and toilet didn’t have a fan, which made it feel stuffy. There weren’t enough power outlets in the room, and the mini-fridge didn’t include any healthy food or drink options. I also noticed there were too few hangers in the bathroom. Additionally, when we tried to extend our stay, the price increase was quite high, which was disappointing.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewYour shoutout to our location resonates with us—we love that you took full advantage of being steps from Chelsea Market and the energy of the Meatpacking District. That said, we’re sorry your stay wasn’t seamless when it came to the in-room details. Noticing a lack of bathroom ventilation and limited power outlets is exactly the kind of guest insight we rely on to guide real improvements. Your feedback about the mini-fridge not offering healthy choices and the need for more bathroom hangers is especially helpful—we’re reviewing our selection with our in-room dining team and housekeeping to ensure essentials are on hand. We also hear your disappointment about the rate jump when you tried to extend; we know that flexibility means so much, especially in the heart of Manhattan. We’d like to speak with you further and learn more about your experience at our hotel. We kindly ask that you please contact the hotel directly and ask to speak with Samantha, our Director of Front Office. Thank you. On a future visit, let us reserve a spot by our rooftop terrace, where you can soak in the skyline with a little more breathing room.
Dream Downtown stay
This is a great location for those who want easy walking to numerous shops on 8th Avenue, and access to subway and other transportation modes. When I say easy walking, I mean those who like to walk more than a few blocks. We walked 10-20 blocks in all directions and they were comfortable and nice neighbourhoods, and great views of the city.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewYour mention of strolling 10–20 blocks to soak up the city instantly put us in step with you—there's something energizing about exploring Manhattan on foot. We're so glad our location made it easy for you to reach 8th Avenue’s shops and connect seamlessly to the subway, all while enjoying vibrant, walkable neighborhoods. Our team genuinely loves seeing guests turn Dream Downtown into a launchpad for urban adventures, whether that's a morning walk to Chelsea Market or an evening discovering Meatpacking nightlife. For your next visit, you might consider our complimentary bicycles—they’re perfect for taking in even more city views, from the High Line to Hudson River Park. Thanks again for sharing your experience. We hope to be the start—and finish—of your next unforgettable NYC journey.
Good Value for a hip hotel.
Perfect location and very hip cool vibe. The lack of coffee machines in the room is disappointing for business travel when you need to be up early. Coffee is available downstairs but not untill the restaurant opens. The rooms are clean and well appointed and the shower is amazing. The bed is very soft. There is a small gym but if you are a runner the path along the Hudson is close and glorious.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewColleen, your shoutout about our “hip cool vibe” and unbeatable location truly made us smile—there’s nothing we love more than connecting guests to the best of downtown. At the same time, we understand how essential that first cup of coffee is, especially for business travelers facing early mornings. We’re sorry our in-room setup didn’t meet your needs; we’re reviewing coffee amenities as part of our ongoing commitment to guest comfort. We’re glad you found your room clean and well appointed, and that our walk-in showers left a strong impression. Thank you for sharing a runner’s perspective on the Hudson path—that quick access is a favorite for many of our guests. And while our fitness center is compact, we hope you found the 24-hour access convenient. We’d like to hear more about your stay and ensure your next visit is seamless. Please ask for Samantha, our Director of Front Office, when you connect with us directly. Next time, let us reserve a sunrise cabana for you—perhaps with an espresso ready poolside. We’d be thrilled to welcome you again.
Very disappointing stay and not worth the money paid!
Overall very disappointed with our stay here and it’s not worth the money. Unhelpful staff, money taken from credit card without any explanation, pool closed for the season (we were not told this and wasn’t on website), key cards not working in the rooms for long periods, and room was very tired (threadbare carpet, poor quality surfaces). I have made a complaint to Hyatt!

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewSusan, your words about feeling disappointed and let down during your stay truly hit home for us. We never want a guest to leave Dream Downtown with this impression, and we take your feedback seriously. Hearing you encountered issues with service, your room key, unexpected charges, and unavailable amenities like our pool is deeply troubling. Transparency and hospitality are at the core of who we are, and we’re sorry we missed the mark—from the moment you arrived to the state of your room and clarity around seasonal amenities. Our Operations team is already reviewing how we communicate pool availability online and in pre-arrival messages, and our Engineering lead is inspecting the condition of our guestroom carpets and surfaces. We’d value the chance to speak with you directly and learn more about your experience at our hotel. Please contact us at the hotel and ask to speak with Samantha, our Director of Front Office, so we may address your concerns personally. We genuinely hope we can regain your trust.
Pretty good but.....
Everything was good, but when I got my bill the charged me for a beer I didn't take from mini bar. Also daily fees are outrageous.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewWe get where you’re coming from—nothing derails a good stay like a billing surprise at checkout. We're grateful you took time to share the details so candidly. It’s clear we missed the mark on the mini bar charge and didn’t set the right expectations around daily fees, both of which can feel really frustrating. Our front desk team is always happy to review billing in real-time, and we encourage you to reach out so we can make this right for you. Your feedback also helps us clarify our incidental and facility fee details at check-in, which we’re committed to improving. Next time, let us treat you to coffee at our Lobby Bar—perfect for a smooth start before exploring Chelsea Market just steps away. We want your next Dream Downtown experience to feel seamless from arrival through checkout. We look forward to another opportunity to welcome you back and hope we can restore your trust.
Don't stay here
Worst hotel experience of my life. First room had a bed where any movement would cause a very high pitched squeaking noise that ruined the nights sleep. Not to mention the room was directly beneath a night club which was very loud until about 5am. Lights in the room also didn't fully work and you couldn't control the bathroom lights separate from the main lights. Then in the second room the window broke and wouldn't seal. Hotel staff didn't think that was a problem and wouldn't accommodate another room until the next morning. Their fix was to put some masking tape around the edges which did nothing. Could hear all of NYC street noise throughout the night, not to mention how cold it was. Overall staff were not very helpful and would do the absolute bare minimum.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewZach, reading your headline stopped us in our tracks—no one should leave Dream Downtown feeling this let down. We’re sincerely sorry your stay was disrupted from the start. You described issues that fall far short of the experience we promise, especially when it comes to your rest and our approach to challenges—whether it’s a squeaky bed, stubborn lighting, or a city soundscape that crept in through an unsealed window. We see that our interim solution with the masking tape hardly resolved the problem, and we can understand how a cold, noisy room overshadowed your night. It’s equally disappointing to hear our team didn’t demonstrate the empathy or urgency you expected. That’s not how we want anyone’s time in our care to unfold. We’d like to speak with you directly and understand more about your experience. Please contact the hotel and ask to speak with Samantha, our Director of Front Office. Thank you, Zach.
Highly Reccommended
We had a fantastic experience. It's a comfortable, clean 4-star hotel in a perfect location. The staff were friendly. Our room felt like a clean sanctuary to return to after a day exploring the city. The pool was refreshing and pretty to look at.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewYour “sanctuary” comment truly resonates with our entire team—we want your room to feel like your personal retreat after a full day in the city’s buzz. We’re grateful you highlighted both our friendly staff and sparkling pool. There’s something uniquely energizing about that glass‑bottom design, especially when city sunlight pours in across the water. Having you describe it as “refreshing and pretty to look at” was exactly the atmosphere we hope comes across, day or night. It sounds like our central Meatpacking District location made exploring extra convenient for you, and we’re so glad you felt at home in your room’s comfort and calm. Next time you join us, let us reserve a poolside cabana so you can lounge a little longer and soak up even more of those vibrant city views. Thanks for choosing Dream Downtown—until your next New York adventure!
Not a dream - but not a nightmare either
Location is great - the staff is gracious - the rooms are VERY small and quite dusty. Just not my idea of "DREAMY" - more like being on a cruise ship with the port window and just very tight quarters.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewNancy, your headline captures such a candid middle ground, and we genuinely appreciate your honest perspective. We’re pleased our team’s graciousness and our location—steps from the Chelsea Market and High Line—stood out during your stay. That said, we regret to hear your room felt both small and dusty. While some guests find our ship-inspired porthole windows and loft-style layouts charming, we understand they don’t always feel spacious, and there’s simply no excuse for dust. Our Housekeeping lead is reviewing your feedback so we can ensure every guest feels the fresh, polished welcome they deserve. We’d truly like to speak with you further and learn more about your experience at our hotel. We kindly ask that you please contact the hotel directly and ask to speak with Samantha, our Director of Front Office. If you return, we’d love to recommend a suite or our GuestHouse penthouse for extra room to stretch out—and deliver a Dream Downtown vibe that’s truly dreamy.
Mistakenly charged for bottled water which brings a lot of trouble.
The fridge is full of waters which are not free and leave no room for my own water. I moved some of the waters from the hotel and put my own water into the fridge. Then I was charged for two bottles of water. During I checked out, I told the front desk about this and they promised to refund me and gave me a new receipt. However, after two days, no refund and no new receipt were sent to me. Even my stay information disappeared from my Hyatt account. I am on a business trip and accurate receipt is needed to get the reimbursement. This brings me a lot of trouble. The customer service is also bad, it took them nearly one hour just to find my reservation information. Until now, I still don't know whether I could get the refund correctly.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewThank you for sharing your feedback. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience you experienced with the minibar charges and for the difficulty in receiving your updated receipt. Please allow me to clarify — the minibars in our rooms are weight-sensitive, which means items are automatically charged when removed, even temporarily. For guests who prefer to store their own items, we also offer complimentary mini fridges upon request. I apologize this wasn’t better communicated during your stay. I’d like to personally assist in reviewing your folio and ensuring your refund and documentation are properly processed. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at frontofficeddt@dreamhotels.com, and I’ll make this a priority. We appreciate your business and hope to have the opportunity to restore your confidence in us.
This place hlps you play hard after you work hard in NYC.
Loved it, would definitely stay here again. Great location not too much traffic during the day and great for nightlife to play hard after a work hard day.

General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Dream Downtown, responded to this reviewWe couldn’t help but smile at your headline—it perfectly captures the Dream Downtown spirit. There’s nothing we love more than seeing our guests make the most of our location, mixing work with a healthy dose of play. It sounds like you discovered the best of both worlds: daytime calm to focus and, after hours, the vibrant energy of our Tao Group nightlife. We’re glad our setting helped you unwind after tackling busy NYC days. Next visit, let us reserve you a table at PHD Rooftop Lounge so you can toast to your victories while taking in those iconic skyline views. Thank you for making us your downtown home base, Phillip. We’ll be ready to welcome you back whenever work—or play—brings you to Manhattan again.
