Short trip to New York and we needed a property in Chelsea.  Dream was recommended and it did not disappoint.  Great location close to Chelsea Market and Starbucks Roastery.
Unique property with lots of interesting art. No issue with noise. Property was clean and well maintained, with wonderful views from our 10th floor porthole windows!

Great location, close walk to Chelsea and Highline, and subway.    Funky (in a good way) lobby/lounge area and bar made great drinks

Long City weekend

Cordial service. No real breakfast restaurant a coffee shop overly priced. But in Chelsea Market around the corner a better selection and price is available. Little storage space in the rooms, unlikely to be sufficient for a suitecase for more than 1-2 days. No coffee kit in rooms. Staff is very friendly. The hotel and rooms are clean and pleasant to stay at. Very close to the metro station.

Our experience at Hyatt Dream Downtown NY.

I really liked the location of this hotel. Adjacent to Meatpacking district and easy walk to where I had to work. The hotel lobby is dark. I get trendy, and that didn't bother me. What I hated was the bed in the room was a foot off the floor, and the mattress was old and saggy. Impossible to get out of and a terribly night's sleep. I can bet whoever designed this room never stayed in it. The bathroom door has no lock or handle, just an open hole to match the circular design. Great for form, bad for function. No privacy from noise or smells. The 20-foot shower curtains make it impossible to reach to pull over and the chain link mesh doesn't belong in a place with moisture. The shower handle was hard to adjust to the correct temperature. And the spigot for the bathroom sink was so far back it was impractical. The desk is tiny and almost useless. It was mostly on a quiet street. I ordered room service from Phillippe's via the QR code in the room, paid for it, then waited 30 minutes. Heard nothing. Called downstairs, they never got the order even though it billed. I disputed it and at least was reimbursed. I don't understand how it can be that difficult to just provide a decent bed and shower. That's all I need from a hotel. The rest is just extra. Do that first, and do it well, and no one would complain.

Great location, dumb room design features.

Hotel is cute, fun art etc in lobby. Location is right outside Chelsea market and very close to subways etc.

I had a couple issues, mostly with my globalist benefits not being applied (I was charged for suite, breakfast, I have to go try to get those charges off now).

Room had a few little nits, chair was very worn, a water bottle cap was left in the pullout indicating it wasn’t properly cleaned. They had only decaf in room coffee.  

Suite was large and overall pretty comfortable.  I would not use points here though, there are other hyatt properties in the area.

So so, good location

It was an average hotel. Dont like the layout of the bathroom made the room seem small and dark. No coffee machine in the room which usually the bare minimum. Only given two towels in the room.  Very bare minimum amenties.

Almost less than average stay

Chelsea was the perfect area for us-quiet, subway at the corner, close to restaurants, walks inc High line, Hudson River. Very central.
The hotel was great apart from the noisey nightclub , very noisey guests trying to find their room at 3am & the annoyance of trying to turn the lights off if an evening-none of the lights matched the wall symbol-it was pot luck🤪
Apart from this we did enjoy our stay & found the staff quite helpful.

Perfect location

Overall I would say our stay was good. Cute cafe in the lobby with good lattes. Great location, right in between uptown and downtown, which is what I wanted so travel both up and down wasn’t super far. The Chelsea Market was literally a 2 minute walk, right around the corner which was really great! Loved it there! It seems like the hotel would be really cute in the summer, it has a lot of flowers/floral decor and a nice outdoor pool. We didn’t get to try any drinks at the hotel lobby bar but they sounded good. Hotel staff was very friendly. Room was cleaned each day, and quickly delivered us more towels when we asked. Room was interesting, a lot of metal (sink was metal, shower curtain was made of metal chains, the bathroom door had a large hole in it (seemed like an intentional design) which was right where the toilet was and no lock, not a huge issue for our family but was quite an awkward design). My biggest issue was that there was a nightclub in the hotel that I was not aware of until we checked in, we stayed from a Thursday to Sunday, most nights were fine except for Saturday night which we could hear the music from the club on the floor level from our room on the 3rd floor quite clearly, very intense booming until 3am in the morning. Very hard to get any sleep that night. Another issue was we had 3 charges on our bill from the mini bar alcohol that we did not use, thankfully when we checked out she was able to remove them easily. A final issue we had was when we checked out we had a question about how the charges were going to appear on my credit card (one was higher than the original amount owed which included the damage charge that they said they would be crediting, but then they charged another amount at check out which I was confused about. They asked me to step to the side while they contacted the manager to clarify this, we had waited more than 45 minutes (standing right to the side of the desk so they wouldn’t forget us) and still no one had come to get us. Finally we walked back up to check and the front desk man called the manager and promised she’d be right up, when she finally came up we noticed she had already been up at the front desk, probably 20-30 minutes ago, but never looked at us or said anything to us. Why she didn’t talk to us then I don’t know?? Luckily she explained that the charges were correct and the first charge would drop down to equal the total amount minus the amount of the second charge. I just don’t know why they couldn’t have explained this to me before I stood there waiting for an hour. I don’t blame the front desk people as they were very friendly and also very busy with people checking in and out and some very rude people but when a guest requests/needs the manager I think she should’ve been out as soon as possible. Kind of made us leave on a bit of a sour note. To sum up I would say this hotel has goods and bads. I think if you are staying during the week it is a good hotel/location to be, but during the weekend when the club is going I would probably not recommend it.

Good sometimes, not great sometimes

On arrival we were warmly greeted and the public areas on the GF were good. We were granted early complimentary access to our room which was great (2nd floor). 
Room was clean, and large by NY standards. There is a nightclub situated in the basement, therefore the Saturday night when the club was open our bed vibrated to the base until 3:30am which was frustrating and not a good nights sleep had! 
The corridors to the guest bedrooms have also not been updated in many years, once would have been nice but now more shabby than chic. Threadbare carpets and scuffed walls. 
On checkout I was presented with a resort fee bill of $50+tax per night. This is a hotel not a resort, the pool had been drained, apparently we could have used hotel bikes  and was entitled to 10% discount in a few local eateries plus free WiFi. This charge is totally ridiculous and the above should come as standard. This left a sour taste, resort tax (not city tax) was in the small print and on top of the nightly room rate. $287 for two bottles of 500ml water and WiFi is not good value. We will not be returning.

Dream that turned into a nightmare

NEVER EVER again will I stay here.  I reserved a roll away bed and they did not deliver.  For 2 nights my 6 foot tall child had the option of a 3 foot bench to sleep on or a dirty floor.  I kept being told we'll look into it, we'll call you, we'll compensate you amd they failed over and over to deliver and didn't pretend to care, starting with the surly woman who checked us in.  Never met such a rude hospitality worker in my entire life.  This is the last place on earth I'd choose for future travel
