Wow this is my favorite bunkhouse yet. While the Austin, Texas bunkhouses have their own vibe, I liked this one most because of the Menil next door and the campus of st. Thomas all around. The bicycles were perfect way to see the neighborhood. The breakfast was phenomenal. The mini-fridge martinis were creative. Happy hour snacks were fantastic.
The bed here is amazing, great mattress and amazing sheets. The hotel staff and front desk are also very nice. it was fun to take the hotel bikes and bike around the area and to breakfast at Chroma with our daughter. It's a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it.
Had a lovely little stay here last week for a business trip. It was such a charming and beautiful location. Great place to work from as well, great food, wonderful service, and their attention to detail is amazing!
I would rather keep this hotel secret but that wouldn't be fair to the lovely staff who work there. We loved this laid back style of luxury service. Having stayed at Park Hyatt and Ritz, this was a totally different type of service and it belongs up there with the best. The interiors are stunning, very European in style, unafraid of color and pattern, and yet incredibly sophisticated with beautiful surprises and thoughtfully laid out spaces. Such a great improvement over beige and white color schemes of late. The restaurant and listening rooms are stunning, with an elegant, (older, 40+) fashionable crowd. One minor comment is that depending on your room location, you might be facing a rather unpleasant view of a 6-8 car open garage with a corrugated roof. It wasn't a huge deal for us, but a view of the museum is preferable. We can't wait to return!
Hotel is beautiful, rooms are big and comfortable. Food and service are also really great. I'll definitely come back here when visiting Houston
This hotel felt like I was at summer camp. The room was beautifully appointed and the staff were friendly and excellent. Highly recommend making use of the bar in the lounge, as well as Perseid. The location was hard to beat in that it was close to great neighborhoods in Houston and downtown.
Such a surprising experience hidden away in the neighborhood of Montrose! True luxury from start to finish, the ambiance of this hotel is upscale without being stuffy. Rooms are spacious and thoughtfully built. 10/10 Truly one of the best hotel experiences in Houston.
This is the hotel you've been hoping to find in Houston. It's better than expected (even with high expectations going in) and the staff, rooms, food, and atmosphere are all above and beyond anything else I've seen in town.
Beautiful hotel, incredible restaurant, incredible bar. The staff are all excellent and all so helpful. Jessie at valet is an absolute gem of a person. He was such a help I would go back just to visit him!
I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Saint Augustine and was genuinely impressed by the property’s design, atmosphere, and attention to detail. What stands out most is that it doesn’t feel like a typical hotel. The layout, with multiple low-rise buildings connected by courtyards and walkways, creates a residential feel that blends naturally into the Montrose neighborhood. It feels more like staying in a thoughtfully designed community than in a conventional hotel. The room was comfortable, quiet, and well-appointed, and the entire property was beautifully maintained. The architecture and landscaping create a sense of calm that is hard to find in the middle of a major city. I also enjoyed the food and beverage program. Perseid provided an excellent dining experience, and it was refreshing to see a hotel restaurant and bar with a distinct local identity rather than a generic concept. The location is another major advantage. Being in Montrose puts you within easy reach of some of Houston’s best restaurants, cultural attractions, and neighborhoods, while still providing a peaceful retreat at the end of the day. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, and what I appreciate most is when a property has a strong sense of place. Hotel Saint Augustine succeeds in feeling uniquely Houston while offering the comfort and service expected from a luxury hotel. I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable hotel experience in Houston.
