Hotel Magdelena is fantastic everything from the valet, the check in staff, the restaurant & the grounds are beautiful with natural landscaping. Very close to great shopping & restaurants. I give it better than a 5 star and we will for sure stay again
This was much better than expected. I loved it and will be back. It is much better in person than the images. Such a clean room and loved all the amenities and colombe coffee in the room. Beautiful quiet little spot nestled in trees.
My daughter and new grandson live in this area and this was my 20th stay at this property. I absolutely love the location, uniqueness and the quiet of the hotel, it is my home away from home.
Pretty hotel in the SoCo area, but the elevator wasn't working, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable. We had to carry luggage down four flights of stairs. For the price, I would definitely recommend staying somewhere else.
Liked - The bedroom was spacious, comfortable with sleek design. - I loved the blue tiles in the bathroom. The view from the bedroom is just ok but great from cat walk and the swimming pool was relaxing and private. - The restaurant has quality breakfast and the all the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. - There is plenty of shopping (closings) around and place to eat like Aba (restaurant) and Two Hands (coffee shop) Disliked - The bathroom has a strange setting has the sink is facing the 2 bed and the shower area was small for 2 person. - I was not happy with the pickup of trash at 4:30 and 6:30 am. So I changed room for a quieter side. (hotel make it easy to switch) - House keeping service came at 6pm, that really late! … just when I needed my room
Overall ok experience, clean room, responsive and polite staff, well stocked rooms with towels and soaps. Not much to speak of in terms of food (empty mini fridge (they used to stock them), no free water). No in room iron or steamer (must request room service to bring up). No breakfast (they have a restaurant option and there are walkable options, but not much in terms of coffee shops if you're an early riser). No gym (they can deliver a peleton /yoga mat at request). A couple of wooden hangers fell apart on me. Wayfinding is straight forward but if taking the stairs down you hit a point where it's difficult to find a way down to the main lobby level so you end up taking their slow elevator down. Decor in rooms is a nice midcentury modern, but it also straddles a dorm room feel. Overall neutral on it. Acoustics s seem good, at no point could i hear neighbors; occasionally you might hear someone outside the room. no issues with wifi speed
Well located. Had suite with patio. Patio chairs were rather uncomfortable. Saw rockers in walkway in front of other rooms. Why not put "nicer" chairs on patio of more expensive rooms rather than hard dining chairs. Housekeeping never serviced room. When I called front desk I was told "they should have". At check out I asked if we had to ask for room to be cleaned...was told you shouldn't have to. Nobody seemed to really care about the subpar service.
I booked through Chase Edit, and I got $100 of credits to spend at the hotel which I used on valet and two drinks, then I also got $30/pp from chase for breakfast so a total of $160 in benefits for one night I'll be back! One note though, our bathroom lights we're not working, I think it might have been breaker related. The atmosphere felt like a tropical villa very cool!
I always love staying at Hotel Magdalena as a staycation, since I live in Austin. Its like an oasis right off South Congress, so you are able to relax in the comfortable rooms, enjoy their beautiful pool surrounded by trees & then just few steps away are amazing shops & restaurants, including Summer House on their property. The food & drinks are definitely elevated compared to other hotels. I can't wait to go back!
This was one if the worst places I ever stayed. My room was booked far away from everyone else in my blocked booking. I arrived early and everybody kept getting a room ahead of me. The reason given seemd bogus. My room had no air-conditioning, I had to walk alone in the dark while finding my room and getting to and fro since the lighting was broken (a known issue). They did finally move my room but only because the air-conditioning didn't work
