Sustainability

While we craft rare and intimate experiences for our guests, we also care for our people and our planet, and take great pride in our environmental initiatives.

Water Bottling Plant

We are the first hotel in Goa to install an automated water bottling plant in partnership with WaterCube.

Our “Zero Mile Water” program delivers fresh alkaline water to our guests in sterilized and sealed glass bottles, eliminating an estimated 350,000 single-use plastic bottles annually, and reducing over 50 tons of carbon emissions. We also place water dispensers at our gym and local studio.

Single-Use Plastics

Not only have we phased out single-use plastic bottles, but we also endeavor to cut the use of other single-use plastics.

All of our dining venues have discontinued providing plastic straws in support of the #NoPlasticStraws campaign. Our new straws are made of biodegradable plastic that decompose naturally in 18 months compared to 400 years for standard plastics. We also use biodegradable and compostable Areca plates and bowls, made with palm leaves that have fallen naturally, at all of our outdoor catered events. Our Alila Living bath amenities are also stored in metal dispensers instead of in plastic tubes and bottles. Glass jars and bottles are used to store spa products.

Sustainable Design

Throughout the design and construction of the resort, we strove to minimize our impact by working with the landscape.

Nature is an integral part of the resort’s architecture, with trees blending effortlessly and gracefully into the spatial design in an effort to preserve indigenous ecosystems. All materials used in building the resort were sourced locally, and an abundance of the region’s eco-friendly brick red laterite stone can be seen throughout the hotel.

Local Community

Alila Diwa Goa is committed to creating a positive impact through initiatives that support the local community.

Many of our varied projects in the community are focused on integrating with and forming lasting connections with its youngest members. We assist in improving the condition and facilities of the local Father Basilio Andrade Memorial Higher Secondary School, we donate sports equipment to the local youth club in Majorda, and we maintain an area along the beachfront in collaboration with local youth. We also provide employment and training opportunities, and a number of residents of the local community have joined our team, providing their unique expertise and insight into the local culture and traditions.
