I had a really lovely stay at Brunfels and would happily return. From the moment I arrived, the service felt warm, attentive and genuinely personal without ever being intrusive. I arrived at around 10:00 in the morning after travelling overnight, and was very grateful that my room was already ready. Mona at the front desk was especially wonderful. She personally accompanied me to my room, pushing the luggage trolley herself and making sure I was settled in. What really stayed with me was how she continued to help throughout my stay. I needed to have my suit pressed for my first day at The International Butler Academy, but the laundry service was closed for the weekend. Mona personally took care of it herself and did a fantastic job. When it later started raining, she even gave me her own umbrella so I could keep my freshly pressed suit dry. These were small gestures, but they felt incredibly thoughtful and genuine. I also really enjoyed the restaurant and breakfast. The service was attentive while still giving me plenty of space to relax, which I appreciated. The variety was exceptional for a continental breakfast, with some lovely local and thoughtful touches. I particularly enjoyed the local sparkling wine and gin, as well as the tomato juice mix, ginger shots and the beautiful honeycomb. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon, which was cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere — artistic and individual rather than generic, while still feeling warm and welcoming. There is also a very comfortable terrace area, which is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast when the weather is nice. It’s the kind of breakfast where you notice the details, but nothing feels like it is trying too hard to impress you. You can simply sit down, have a good meal and enjoy being there. Overall, Brunfels gave me exactly what I needed before starting an important new chapter. The hotel is comfortable and beautifully atmospheric, but it was really the human touch that made the stay memorable. A special thank you to Mona for making me feel so genuinely looked after. She is a wonderful reflection of the kind of hospitality that makes a hotel stay special.

Rooms and location were really nice. But if you made reservations with a mix of different rates for different days of your stay, your "reservation" is split so your card key must be updated at the beginning of each rate reservation. Also, breakfast is offered as ONLY the relatively expensive breakfast buffet. Also note that the P2 parking level doe NOT have elevator access - only P1 does.

Reception were super welcoming - the hotel is in a quiet location and easy to access - the service was really good. We were at a conference in the city and the hotel location allowed a short walk to the riverside location. The hotel room was nicely appointed and very comfortable - overall exceeded expectations.

If you going to Mainz this is the hotel for you. It's a jewel perfectly position to explore the city. Restaurants and bars close by public transport is easy to access. You will not be disappointed with the hotel room was lovely and the staff aim to please. Excellent breakfast on a morning and nice bar to relax at.

I hesitate to write this review because I want to keep this place to myself—it’s been one of the better surprises of my travels over the last 9 months, and a real hidden gem. The hotel is in a convenient location on the edge of the old town in Mainz, and a very short walk to the center of the town. I would say that the main station (Mainz HBF) is stuck in the middle ground of being a bit too much of walk for some visitors, while being too short for a taxi. This might be one of the only shortcomings though. The property is on an unassuming side street in what looks like a mostly residential neighborhood, so it was relatively quiet apart from brief bursts of noise from the Johannisnacht festival/Germany vs. Cote D’Ivoire. The hotel itself was a lot nicer than the semi-brutalist exterior might have portended. The lobby was nice and open with a classic design, although the check-in area was slightly cramped. The process was smooth though, and the staff at front desk were courteous and helpful with local suggestions. The room itself was a lot better than I had been expecting; a generous space featuring comfortable bedding. It looked like the property had been recently refurbished. Everything in the mini-bar is also included, with bottles of still and sparkling water, and even beer. The bathroom is clean and stark white, with ample space for toiletries. Shower pressure was decent as well. With all the choices in the neighborhood, I didn’t go to the bar or restaurant except for breakfast. But it was some kind of breakfast: a very ample buffet, and then the choice of cooked dishes made to order. Service was also friendly and efficient throughout my three days there, not only at breakfast, but at the front desk and housekeeping as well. I’ve been connecting through Frankfurt for a number of years now, and Mainz has been a hidden gem to me, with the history and the scenery. My introduction was to the Hyatt Regency, which I thought and still think is a great place. The Brunfels though seems a bit of a step above, a little harder to get to, but well worth the effort. I will definitely be back.

YES! This hotel is so much better than we expected. Beautiful interior and very, very high end rooms. We loved it. The staff was perfection. Location was totally walkable to all the action.

I can only recommend Brunfels hotel.Situated in the middle of the Altstadt is excellent ,Staff very competent,friendly and always ready to assist Bar service is professional, same with restaurant staff. Rooms are very clean and what you get for your money is excellent. Brunfels might belong to Hyatt group but the atmosphere is more like a boutique hotel.Being in the Altstadt means very little traffic and noise level near zero.

Friendly staff. Nice welcome. Beautiful decor. Located on a quiet street. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. Room was comfortable and nice. Minibar was free. Early check in and breakfast cost about 110 euros total but I was glad to be able to do it.

We made a return visit to Brunfels (we stayed in July 2025), because everything is just so. We could easily have driven past Mainz and gone directly to our next destination in Cologne, but we made a point of staying here, just to experience Brunfels again. It is THAT good 👍🏻
