Good comfortable room amenities in bathroom were good. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Restaurant was a little specific in food available
We had a wonderful stay albeit short. The staff really made our trip special. From the gentleman at the door to the house staff. Nice pool and bar and we liked the breakfasts: much better than a buffet but maybe a bit of variation would be nice. If we were staying in that area again, I’d stay there.
We loved our stay at the Standard. Its a well designed and cool hotel with an excellent location near to the shopping on Orchard Road and plenty of restaurants. The free shuttle to Orchard Road is a nice touch. We will definitely come back.
excellent location as well as very helpful and friendly staff. The room was very clena and nice though small compare to US hotels. 5 minutes walk to main shopping areas and restaurants.
I had a great relaxing stay at The Standard, and am glad it was featured as part of Chase's The Edit. The layout of the room worked well; the bathroom was spacious (loved the overhead gravity shower head), I liked the small corner seat and table, which I used to check emails and research things I wanted to do in Singapore, the floor to ceiling windows gave me a nice view, but also had sheer and black-out shades, there was adequate hangers to hang up clothes. The decor is modern, fun, kitschy. I had breakfast included and it was delicious, as was dinner (get their signature crab rice dish). I wish it hadn't rained because I would have enjoyed the pool (and it's a nice way to break up the hot day).
Great stay in Singapore with a beautiful outdoor pool and gym, cool bar and cozy neat rooms. 5mins walk from Orchard Road and ION malls, also reachable by the hotel's shuttle bus. Very nice pool with cool music playing in the background, nice snacks and drinks.
Mid-century modern isn't my preferred aesthetic but not many negatives. Tonic and wet towel upon first arrival -- what a welcoming gesture! Mid-size hotel is well-kept, clean and tucked away in a residential area that's quieter and has less foot traffic than some of the grander and more famous hotels like Shangri-La or Fullerton. It is conveniently located close to Orchard but note you do have to walk to most places as the free shuttle has few stops. That's my main complaint - the shuttle doesn't do airport transfers and mainly only stops along two malls on Orchard. The actual waiting areas is hard to find and I had to force staff to show me a picture of it online. They should put more details on the website. Kaya had amazingly creative food. They also host a variety of events that do get loud - that can be a pro or con. The pool was a decent size but no hot tub :( Would suggest they add that or perhaps shuttle rides to a local spa/massage place. Room was spacious enough for one (can ask for a free upgrade upon check-in). Rainfall showerhead is a lux. Room service didn't care to change cups/utensils unless one requests, which is odd. I think these should be changed daily like sheets. Shower door ran into what mat was on the floor. By law, no outlets are allowed in the bathroom at all. This is the first I've ever heard of such a law. Products offered were decent but average. I'm was amazed at how many amenities staff were willing to provide freely.
This is my 2nd time staying at The Standard under the pet staycation package. I was emailed a form by reservations staff Ida, who demanded for my dog's vaccination records. It was stated on the form that pets are ONLY allowed in the outdoor area of Cafe Standard, and pets are no longer allowed both indoors and outdoors of Kaya restaurant. Cafe Standard opens at 11am. Breakfast hrs are 6.30am to 10.30am. That doesn't even make sense. Upon reaching the hotel, we were ushered into the outdoor area of Cafe Standard in the uncomfortable heat. A staff guarded the glass door between the outdoor area and the lobby to ensure that we don't come into the lobby. Fyi, my dog is in a stroller. Her feet are not even touching the ground. This is rude, and offensive. When we entered the room, there was NO dog bed, NO pet dishes, nothing. I had to inform guest services 2 times to request for them. The weather was already hot enough, and I noticed the air con control had a prompt to clean the filter. The only saving grace of this unpleasant staycation was that the staff at the Kaya where we had breakfast the next day was friendly. A nice waiter offered my dog water. If the management wants to jump on the pet friendly bandwagon, please ensure that ALL of your staff DO NOT have a problem with dogs. Otherwise, scrap the whole policy. You want to earn the money of pet parents but treat pets as an inconvenience.
We really enjoyed everything: the atmosphere, the pool, the beautiful contemporary style and design, the exceptional service, the delicious food, the generosity, and the wonderful rooms. Thank you so much for making our stay so special.
Location is good but it' was in a corner if I remember where an old block of flats were. The pool view rooms just look into Shangri la hotel's Garden Wing and the pool. It's quite claustrophobic honestly. The rooms are small. Bathrooms are small too and the bright orange yellow wallsay be a little too cheery for some. Service can be a little nonchalant like ' we're here to look pretty but call us if you need anything and we'll decide if we want to assist ' at the front desk. Their attitude towards top tier World of Hyatt members are dreadful. Although the room attendant bringing the amenities is probably the most cheerful guy in the whole hotel. If you're a World of Hyatt member, think of this hotel as a Hyatt Place in middle America except it's with breakfast. Breakfast is however acceptable though portions are small. Hotel must have better placement for the chef to stand and complete orders than standing outside the kitchen, next to the coffee machines and between the kitchen and a guest's table. Not very safe for us to manoeuvre with hot beverage in hand! If chef is there, then section off for staff only and move the beverage counter somewhere else.
