This was our first trip to the Maldives, and we felt looked after from the moment we arrived. We got to the resort early in the morning, well before check-in. Eva was so welcoming and arranged a temporary room for us to freshen up and rest after the long journey. We really appreciated that. We tried Kula, BBQ Shak, Guduguda and Onda, and the service was great at all of them. Onda was our favourite though. It was quiet, had a lovely atmosphere, and we really enjoyed the food. A special thank you to Shak at Onda. When we mentioned that the following night would be our last evening on the island, he arranged a lovely table for our final dinner. The chef and kitchen team also surprised us with a special dessert. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the evening even more memorable. Thanks to Eva, Shak, the chef and everyone at the resort for making our first Maldives holiday so special.

Dear Leiw, Thank you for sharing this, and for choosing the island for your first Maldives holiday. I’m glad Eva was able to make your arrival a little easier. After a long journey, having somewhere to freshen up and rest before settling into your villa can make all the difference. It sounds like she made sure your holiday started on the right note. And what a nice way to finish your stay! I love that Shak picked up on your comment about your final evening and quietly arranged something special. A beautiful table at Onda, good food, and a surprise dessert from the kitchen — sometimes the most memorable moments come from people simply paying attention. Thank you for recognizing Eva, Shak, and our culinary team. I’ll make sure they all see your words. It’s also great to hear you explored all four restaurants and found your favourite along the way. Although now that Onda has set the bar for your final dinner, the team may have to get creative when you come back! Your first Maldives trip is done, but hopefully it’s only the beginning. Truly wonderful holiday. Location stunning. Service and staff exceptional. Food absolutely first class. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Dear Nicola, Thank you for such a lovely review. Beautiful surroundings, great food, and people who make you feel genuinely welcome — I'm glad the island delivered on all three. And wishing you could have stayed longer is probably one of the nicest compliments we can receive! Thank you for spending your holiday with us. Hopefully next time you'll have a few extra days to enjoy doing absolutely nothing, or as much as you please. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
Overall a great experience. Would definitely recommend upgrading to the all inclusive package to enjoy the best parts of the food and dining experience. Snorkelling off the ocean side rooms was amazing.

Dear Brooke, Thank you for sharing this. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and found the experience offered great value. The all-inclusive package is certainly a good way to explore our restaurants and make the most of the food and drinks without having to think too much about the details. And having the house reef just a short swim from your Ocean Villa is pretty hard to beat. I'm happy the snorkeling was such a highlight. Thank you for the recommendation. Hopefully there's another island escape in your future, with plenty more time beneath the surface. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
Family trip for 6 days (kids ages 17, 15, 11). Overall, we really enjoyed the trip. The overwater bungalow was exactly as advertised and being able to walk down stairs into the water was amazing. It was easy to book the tennis courts daily. Buffet is expensive ($50 for breakfast, $60 for lunch, and $80 for dinner) but the food choices are extensive and kids 11 and under are half-priced.

Dear Christian, Thank you for sharing this. I’m glad the island worked so well for your family, especially with three kids at very different ages. Being able to step straight from your overwater villa into the lagoon is one of those simple things that never really gets old. It’s also good to hear the tennis courts got plenty of use during the six days. Thank you as well for the honest feedback on the buffet pricing. I appreciate you calling out both the cost and the extensive choice available, and we’ll keep your comments in mind as we continue looking at the overall value of the dining experience. Thanks for spending your family holiday with us, and hopefully we’ll see all of you back on the island again. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
Gorgeous 5-star experience in the perfect location. Staff, including our personal concierge Shaamu, were extremely friendly and hospitable from start to finish. When I broke my phone, the concierge (Shaan) had it flown to Male for repairs and flown back! Food was excellent. Could not recommend more highly.
I rated 'Customer Service' a 10 because everything was so amazing. Each employee just bent over backwards to see that anything needed was taken care of. We especially enjoyed the wall in the unit supplied with tube, snorkel gear and snorkel bag. It was so nice to just have that part of the unit instead of having to go to the dive shop to get it. Of course the actual snorkeling was a highlight of the experience. Plus the chocolate croissants at breakfast were incredible. Last year we went to the Park Hyatt in Paris, a VERY high end hotel. Plus it is in PARIS!!!!!!!! (we had high expectations). Croissants at The Standard were so far superior that it is embarrassing (for them). Paris need to learn from you! We enjoyed all of our food, but that was the highlight. We enjoyed the huge deck on the back of our unit, the jacuzzi, the ability to just climb down into the ocean to snorkel, and the lounge chairs to just relax. Of course the unit itself is huge and quite nice. Truth in advertising - it was wonderful, but the main experience while visiting, just like Tahiti, is getting into the ocean to snorkel. We loved it. BUT, the time and cost of getting to the Maldives compared to Tahiti (from the West Coast) makes Tahiti appeal far more than the Maldives.

Dear Mr. Munson, Thank you for the note — and for spending time with us on the island. I’m glad you settled into it properly. Snorkel gear in the room, straight into the water, no extra steps — that’s how it should be. And the chocolate croissants… we’re very happy to hear that. We’ll take that win — especially with a Paris comparison in the mix. Sounds like you made the most of the villa as well — the deck, the space, and just being able to switch off. We’ll be here if you decide to come back. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
Everything was amazing! The hotel, the island/nature and most importantly the staff- everyone was so friendly, professional, kind and helpful. A huge thanks goes out to our diving instructor Raph for his patience, professionalism and for our unforgettable diving experience. Thank you to the restaurant chefs and their amazing teams who prepared the most delicious meals. Thank you to the waiters for their service and hospitality. Thank you to the cleaning staff for the impeccable cleanliness. Thank you to the maintenance staff for keeping everything safe and functioning. Thank you to the receptionists for their help. And the biggest thank you goes to our host Poula, who went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay. He was very attentive and professional. Even after our departure he kept in touch to make sure we arrived home safely- really exceptional work! We hope to come back as soon as possible. Thank you!

Dear Natasa, Thank you for taking the time to share this. It’s great to hear the island, the lagoon, and the marine life all came together to give you such a memorable stay. Raph will be happy to know the diving experience stayed with you — he has a calm way of guiding people into the water and making them feel at ease. I’ll also share your thanks with the chefs, the restaurant teams, housekeeping, maintenance, and front office. It takes all of them working together to keep things feeling smooth and natural. And of course, I’m glad Poula was able to support you throughout your stay — and even after you left. That kind of care is exactly what we aim for. We’ll be here whenever you feel like coming back to the island. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
Small private island, pretty good beaches. Beach villa with pool is very good option. Friendly staff, especially in Kula restaurant. Nice overall atmosphere.

Dear Phil, Thank you for sharing this. I’m glad the island felt like the right size and pace for you. The beach villas with pool are a good way to settle in, and it’s great to hear you enjoyed that space. Also appreciate the mention of the Kula team — they’ll be pleased to know their energy stood out. Easy atmosphere, good beaches, and time to switch off — that’s what we aim for. Hope to see you back at the resort when you’re next in Raa. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
There is a reason for our 4th visit to the The Standard, Maldives . Dear Tas, A fourth visit says more than I ever could — thank you for coming back to the island again. That kind of loyalty means a lot to all of us here. It was also really nice to meet you and the family in person and share some good conversations during your stay. Seeing everyone genuinely enjoy the resort — and connect so well with our team — is exactly why we do this. I’m glad it continues to deliver for you — the reef, the natural beauty, and time spent at Onda. The team there will appreciate the nod. We’ll be ready for visit number five. We travelled via Secret Escapes for my partners 40th birthday. Everything was seamless from start to finish including the transfers! The Standard was amazing! The food was outstanding, the staff were attentive, lots of activities to do, and the drinks package and entertainment were amazing! The fish/ sharks/ mantaray we all seen from putting a snorkel on from our room! Such an amazing experience all round, we will DEFINITELY return! And HIGHLY recommend!
Justin Swart, General Manager at The Standard, Maldives, responded to this review
Dear Emma, Celebrating a 40th is a good reason to head to the island — I’m glad everything felt smooth from the transfers onward. That part matters. It’s great to hear you made the most of it — good food, strong drinks, a bit of entertainment, and plenty happening around you. And being able to step straight from your villa into the water and see sharks and manta rays never really gets old. That’s a special part of staying out here. I appreciate the recommendation as well. When you’re ready to plan the next milestone, we’ll be here. Justin General Manager The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives
