Good enough urban Hyatt
Okay, but in need of a refresh. Clean, but shabby blinds, small bath towels, stained carpets. Breakfast okay. I'd not go out of my way to stay here. Be sure to check on whether large groups of teens will be in-residence during your stay and avoid then.

We understand how the presence of large groups could affect the atmosphere and your decision to return. Your comments about the property and breakfast have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. Thank you for giving us a clear sense of where the experience could have been better.
Okay
Overall, the Hotel is OK it’s a little dated. The room was not very clean. There was what appeared to be a sweaty butt print the couch in the room. The drapes did not want to go up or down to for the main window. There’s some paint peeling the breakfast was terrible but the staff was nice and friendly.

Forced to pay for valet parking
When we arrived, we were informed that parking was valet only and it was $76 a night. It said in the booking that valet was a offering, not that it was required. Being disabled, we had no choice but to park at the hotel and we had to pay for the valet. The room was in poor shape. The AC didnt work, the phone didnt work, and the light in the bathroom didnt stay on longer than 5 seconds. I went down and complained and they did move us to another room, which was in newer shape. Why didnt we get this room to begin with? Also, the breakfast was horrible. Everything tasted like it came from a microwave. For what we paid for the price of the room, plus the valet cost we weren't expecting to pay, we could have stayed at a much nicer hotel.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
We are sorry the required valet arrangement brought an unexpected expense, especially when you had no practical alternative. Your comments about the parking arrangement and the rest of your stay have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. We appreciate you taking the time to describe what happened.
Do not stay here, not clean
Horrible hotel. Rooms and not cleaned well and the property is horribly maintained. Staff is nice, but that is about it.

Terrible room
The room is not Hyatt standards room 307. Several issues with the room and staff. To include paint peeling on the ceiling
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review

Don't expect much
Rooms - in much need of update Value - ridiculously expensive for condition of hotel and lack of amenities Cleanliness - not clean. had to buy supplies to clean my room properly and the restaurant where breakfast is served was unclean (dusty, crumbs etc.,) and the hotel was infested with gnats.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Michele, we are sorry that the condition of your room and the cleanliness around breakfast service left you so disappointed. Having to purchase supplies to make your room acceptable is not the experience we want for a guest. Your comments about the property’s upkeep and value have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Second Time Staying
Good size rooms, good location bikeable to train station, appreciate the pool and breakfast. Please get the mosquito problem under control.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Holly, we are glad you chose Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol for a second stay. Your room’s generous size and our location made your visit convenient, especially for biking to the train station. It is great to know you enjoyed having the pool and breakfast available. We are sorry mosquitos impacted your stay. They're a pain in DC summers... please be assured we have a stringent pest control regimen in place to battle them. We thank you for staying with us, and would love to welcome you back soon!
Not what I was expecting for a Hyatt
We were only here for one night but as a travel agent I was disappointed with the room. It was an accessible room and the shower door had obviously broken because it was replaced with a shower curtain, which was too short so water gathered on the floor. The bathroom door didn’t lock. We were also missing the black out shade on the extra large window so the light mesh covering allowed all the bright lights from the city as we slept. Crazy !
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
We are sorry your room required you to work around a shower setup that allowed water to collect on the floor, along with a bathroom door that did not secure properly. The missing blackout shade also made it difficult to rest with the city lights coming through the window. Your comments about the bathroom fixtures and window covering have been shared with our engineering team. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention.
Nice place to stay
Staff was exceptionally nice and attentive to my needs. Location is great. Rooms are nice and big. I would recommend the hotel to encourage quiet time during night time. We had very loud neighbors next door. They were talking very loud, yelling, and laughing. It was going on from 11pm to 330 am till I called the front desk with my issue. I probably got 2 hours of sleep total. Otherwise, I had a great experience!
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Tatiana, we are glad the attentive care from our team, convenient location, and generous space in your room made your stay worthwhile. We are sorry that noise from nearby guests kept you awake for much of the night. We have Security overnight, and will be sure to address this with the Security Team. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope to provide a more restful visit at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol next time.
It's a bit overpriced for what you get.
the price for the exact same room and dates on your website has dropped quite a bit since I booked. I understand that my reservation is an advance purchase/non-refundable rate, but seeing a significant price drop right after my first direct booking is a bit disappointing.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Dear Pioneer27575315288, Thank you for staying with us, and sharing your review. It is true that hotel prices fluctuate regularly. Usually the advance purchase rate will be the lowest one. We do our best to set accurate and realistic prices months in advance. Sometimes an event gets cancelled, and we find ourselves with last minute rooms to sell- and sometimes we drop rates at the last minute. That is not typical, but it can happen. If you ask us for an adjustment, we will usually honor it. Do not hesitate to call the general manager so we can make it right.
Needs improvement
Location is good and close to city attractions. However property is very old, many things are not working - wash basin cracked, AC control panel falling off, bathroom outside and inside sliding doors don't stay. Breakfast very crowded. We had a billing credit which is still not reflecting on the card and still following through.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Mukul, we are glad our location worked well for your plans. We are sorry that the condition of your room and the maintenance concerns you described made the stay frustrating. We provided a credit as an apology for your dissatisfaction, and if you booked through a third party site, we request the credit right away, but they may take up to a week to process the request. We apologize for the delay!
**Good Value for Money and Great Location**
Overall, everything went well during my stay at Hyatt Place Washington DC. The hotel offers good value for money and is conveniently located close to the Metro, making it very easy to explore Washington, D.C. The hotel is showing its age and would definitely benefit from some renovation and modernization. That said, my room was comfortable and had a great view, which I really enjoyed. Breakfast was acceptable, with a reasonable selection. However, I was disappointed by the extensive use of disposable plates, cups and cutlery, which felt unnecessarily wasteful and not very sustainable. Another downside was the breakfast area itself. After 8:00 a.m., it became extremely crowded, with long queues. The space is clearly not large enough for the size and capacity of the hotel, making breakfast quite chaotic during peak hours. Despite these points, I had a good stay overall. For the price, location, proximity to the Metro and the view from my room, I would consider it good value for money.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
The Metro access and the view from your room clearly helped make your time in Washington enjoyable, and we are glad Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol offered the value you were looking for. Your room’s comfort was also a highlight. We are sorry the breakfast rush made the area chaotic, and we understand why the extensive use of disposable serviceware was disappointing. Your observations about the property’s upkeep and breakfast experience have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. We hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again.
One of the worst hotel stays ever....
I don't ever mean to be judgmental but I would've loved to know that there are shelter residents in the hotel. I would not have booked here. The evening front desk staff was so kind. My first room smelled like cigarettes, was dirty, and the couch had stains on it. It was atrocious. Our room was switched to a better room but the shower was leaking and the couch was still stained. I went to ask the manager Frank a question the next morning, he looked at me quite judgmentally and with an attitude and was AWFULLY RUDE. The parking overnight is $79.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Tavia, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are genuinely sorry that your visit included multiple disappointments, from the condition of your rooms to the service encounter you described. Your comments about cleanliness, maintenance, and the interaction with our manager are deeply concerning, and our housekeeping, engineering, and Guest Relations teams will carefully review what occurred. We are also sorry that information about our guests and the parking rate impacted your stay. Please know we are committed to providing a welcoming, well-kept environment for all. We value your candor and appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention.
Good location but no parking
We didn’t have air conditioning in our room. The manager stated he would comp me a night, and they did move us, but I was not given the comp. The hotel needs hotel parking and not just valet. Also consider microwaves in rooms and update website as there is no restaurant in the hotel.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Amy, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are sorry to hear about the air conditioning issue in your room, as well as the mix-up regarding the promised compensation. Our Guest Relations and engineering teams will be looking into these matters to help prevent future frustration. Your comments about parking, in-room amenities, and the accuracy of our website are valuable for us to consider as we try to improve the guest experience. We appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to do better going forward.
Spend a little more and stay elsewhere.
Hotel staff were nice other than maintenance who never showed up to our room. It’s borders an area that feels like the ghetto with people begging for money. The Metro is a close walk.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Melissa, Thank you for the kind words about our staff. We are happy to hear that, but disappointed to see that you did not enjoy other aspects of your visit. We provide Housekeeping service on the 3rd day of your stay, but we are happy to provide daily service upon request. And we are sorry you did not enjoy the neighborhood. We are in downtown DC, so we always advise guests to be aware of their surroundings, but most guests enjoy the shops and restaurants nearby. We thank you for staying with us, and would love to welcome you back.
Avoid it if you can. Location is good.
Stayed there for 7 days and lock of the toilet was not working and even when asked the staff to fix it they did not fix it. Breakfast was good.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience, Hemant. While we are pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast, we are truly sorry about the maintenance issue with your guest room's bathroom lock and the service concerns you encountered when seeking help with this. Our engineering and Guest Relations teams will take your comments to heart as we work to ensure better support for our guests. We appreciate you letting us know and hope for the opportunity to make things right in the future.
Girl Scouts conference stay- will reconsider next time
This was a letter sent to Hotel manger as reported by cooperate customer service line. This Issue is still not resolved. I am writing regarding my recent stay at your hotel on July 19-27, 2026 during which time a child became trapped in one of the hotel’s elevators. The situation required assistance as the child (unaccompanied by an adult) was repeatedly yelling “ Help me”, and I had to call 911 to request assistance from the fire department to remove the child. The front desk staff was notified and discouraged me from calling 911 stating the hotel staff could get him out and initially refusing to provide the address to provide to dispatch when I requested. Another guest at the hotel helped me find the address to provide so emergency services could respond to the event. The Fire Department arrived and was able to extract the child safely. As you can imagine, this was an extremely frightening and emotionally distressing experience for my child to witness and our Girl Scout Troop to be involved with. Following the incident, it was difficult to continue our stay or enjoy the accommodations as intended. Our Girls scouts ranging in ages 9-15 were scared to take the elevator and very disappointed in the front desk attendant who they perceived to be hesitant in helping the child when staff would not provide the address and kept telling me to hang up and not call 911. I understand that unexpected mechanical issues can occur, and I appreciate the efforts of your staff and the emergency responders. However, given the seriousness of the incident and the impact it had on our stay, I respectfully request that you consider refunding the charges for our room as a gesture of goodwill. Thank you for taking the time to review my request. I look forward to your response and hope we can reach a fair resolution.
We won’t stay here again
Hotel lobby was nice, but everything else (elevators, pool, hallways, ice rooms, hotel room and bathroom) was very run down feeling. Elevator smelled and shook, room floor and couch stained. Peeling wallpaper (assuming from water damage) in hallway and bathroom. Mildew on tub surround. Shower rack rusted.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Washington DC/US Capitol, responded to this review
Nichole, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are genuinely sorry that your visit left you with so many concerns, especially around the condition of your room and the state of the hotel's shared spaces. Our housekeeping and engineering teams will review what you described, as these details do not reflect the standard we expect for our guests. We appreciate you caring enough to let us know, and we are grateful for the opportunity to improve.
