Just a few things
Clean. Great for price. You have to pay for parking! $9 per day. Not good. Centrally located. Also the breakfast is the same every day. Pork sausage. Eggs. Potatoes. Google cast doesn’t work so you cannot log onto streaming services. Great hotel and great price. Roomy and they have a bar and food onsite. That’s awesome.

Henry, we are glad you found good value at Hyatt Place Richmond Arboretum. It is great to know your room felt clean and roomy. Our central location was another plus, and we are happy the onsite bar added convenience to your stay. We understand that paying for parking was a drawback. Having the same breakfast each day can feel repetitive. We are sorry Google Cast did not work as expected. Your notes about these conveniences have been shared with the teams responsible for each area. We hope to make your next visit even more enjoyable.
Exceptional Service and Value
This was our first experience with Hyatt, but it won't be our last. From smooth check in to the extra spacious room, my wife and I felt like our needs were met and exceeded. When a couple of minor problems arose, we were treated with respect and fully satisfied with the prompt attention we received. But they didn't leave much room for complaint; the experience was A+. The breakfast bar is well above average, and we enjoyed having oat milk provided as an option. Note that during the week it is open until 9am. The handicap bathroom is extra large and accommodating, and made things much easier for us.

What a wonderful first Hyatt stay, and we are delighted that Hyatt Place Richmond Arboretum will be part of your future travels! We are glad our team handled the minor concerns promptly and treated you with the respect you deserved. The extra space in your room and the accessible bathroom clearly made your visit more comfortable. We are also pleased that our breakfast offerings, including oat milk, added something special to your mornings. Your generous comments mean a great deal to us, and we hope to welcome you and your wife again soon!
Accessible!!!
I was genuinely impressed with our stay at Hyatt. As someone who frequently stays in hotels and specifically books mobility-accessible rooms with a bathtub, I have had more than my share of frustrating hotel experiences. This stay was completely different. We booked a king room with a mobility-accessible bathtub, and the room was actually set up the way an accessible room should be. The bathtub had a working handheld/pull-down showerhead, which may sound like a small detail, but it makes a huge difference for someone with mobility limitations. At several other hotels, I have specifically reserved accessible bathtub rooms only to arrive and find that the accessibility features were missing, broken, or that I had to change rooms multiple times. At Hyatt, I walked into the room and everything I needed was already there and worked properly. The room was comfortable, the accessibility features were thoughtfully provided, and the experience made traveling much less stressful. Hyatt, thank you for getting accessibility right. I truly appreciate the attention to detail and the customer service. After this experience, I will absolutely look for Hyatt properties when planning future trips. I just wish there were more Hyatt locations!
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Richmond/Arboretum, responded to this review
Jessica, knowing that you arrived to find your accessible king room prepared exactly as reserved means a great deal to us. Details such as a working handheld showerhead can make travel far more comfortable, and we are glad this feature served you well. We are proud that your room supported your needs without the frustration of changing rooms or searching for missing features. Hyatt Place Richmond Arboretum is committed to making accessibility a genuine part of the guest experience, not an afterthought. Your kind words about our customer service and attention to detail have been shared with our team. We are especially happy to hear that this stay made traveling less stressful. We look forward to welcoming you to another Hyatt property on your next trip!
Better than expected
It’s a 2.5-3 star hotel but for that I give it 5 stars. If you are looking for somewhere on a budget that’s clean and has nice sized rooms I’d stay here again

Slightly Disappointed
Room condition was less than expected. Beds weren’t as comfortable as other hotels. Reception and kitchen staff wasn’t as friendly as we’re used to.

Incredible Customer Service
Front desk associates, Mary and Andrea, were fantastic and so helpful! Each was highly professional and far exceeded the expectations of a front desk attendant - super job!

Pretty good stay
Clean and in a good location with shops and restaurants nearby. Only complaint is with the small bathroom which makes it difficult to enter and exit the toilet/ shower area.

It is great to hear you found our hotel’s location convenient and appreciated the cleanliness, Scenic743387. Good stay, but breakfast fell short during a busy weekend
The Good: Overall, we had a good stay at the Hyatt Place Arboretum. Great Location. The hotel does the basic things well, and the cleaning staff deserves a shoutout—they did a great job keeping everything clean and tidy throughout our visit. The Bad: The breakfast, however, was very subpar. The hotel used a local NSDA (National Speech & Debate Association) tournament as an excuse for not refilling the breakfast stations. Even with a large group staying at the hotel, the staff didn't make a noticeable effort to keep up with the demand or manage the refills frequently, which left a lot of guests frustrated and hungry. Verdict: The hotel itself is decent but could definitely use some upgrades to freshen things up. If you're staying here, it's a solid, clean choice for the basics, but don't count on a great breakfast experience if there's an event in town.

Your comments about the breakfast experience during the busy weekend are important to us, and we are sorry this part of your visit did not meet expectations. Our Guest Relations and breakfast teams will review your feedback, as supporting all guests equally remains a top priority, regardless of how busy the hotel may be. We also appreciate your candor regarding potential updates to the property. Your insights help us know where to focus our efforts. Thank you again for choosing us, and we hope your next visit brings an even better experience.
Nice stay
Nice modern hotel. Comfortable bed. Decent breakfast. Pleasant staff. Only negative is having to pay a $9 per day fee to park in the lot on which the hotel is located. Felt this was yet another way for the hotel make money from their guest.

Staff Recognition – Hyatt Place Arboretum, Richmond, VA | Exceptional Recovery & Guest Service
My wife and I were guests from Friday through Tuesday, May 22–26, 2026, traveling to the area for our daughters' youth volleyball tournaments at Henrico Sports Center. I want to be candid: our stay got off to a rough start. Upon arrival, mobile check-in was unavailable, and after inspecting our first room, we discovered insects on the couch and the pull-out bed. We promptly brought this to the attention of the manager on duty, and the situation was handled. What truly stood out during that initial exchange was a staff member named Lashay — who seems to wear many hats at the property (housekeeping, cooking, and more) — who personally assisted us in inspecting our second room. When that room proved too small for our needs, Lashay advocated directly to the manager on our behalf and ensured we were placed in a more suitable room. That kind of initiative and genuine care for a guest's comfort is not something you see every day, and I want to make sure it is recognized. Over the course of the weekend, our stay was further disrupted by a group of unsupervised children repeatedly disturbing hotel guests by knocking on room doors — an issue that persisted through Saturday evening and into Sunday. I ultimately had to address the children myself. It was General Manager Andrea Carter who truly turned things around. Ms. Carter arrived at the property on Sunday evening, after police had been called, and handled the situation with authority, calm, and professionalism. She cleared the disruption entirely. When my wife and I saw her that night, she asked us to give her a moment to address the matter and then followed up with us personally. On Monday evening, once the weekend sports groups had departed and things had settled, Ms. Carter sat down with us, listened attentively, offered a sincere and thorough apology, and comped two nights of our stay. I want to be honest with you — I was prepared to write Hyatt off entirely after the difficulties we experienced. Ms. Carter's response changed that. She handled everything with grace and accountability, and because of her I am willing to give Hyatt another chance. I also want to specifically commend the following staff members: • Lashay (Housekeeping/Cook) – As noted above, her advocacy and attentiveness during our room situation was exceptional. • Tomasa (Front Desk/Cook) – Consistently pleasant, helpful, and hardworking throughout our stay. • Ms. Annette (Housekeeping) – A dedicated and kind presence. Though I do not have her last name, I hope you are able to identify her and pass along my appreciation. • The morning cook with locs (name unknown) – On the mornings our tournament schedule required us to leave before the complimentary breakfast was available, she graciously had coffee ready early for us. That small gesture meant a great deal. My one remaining concern is the 5–7 business day processing time I was given for my two-night refund. I understand this may be standard procedure, but I did want to note it, as a faster resolution would go a long way toward reinforcing the goodwill Ms. Carter worked so hard to rebuild. Thank you for taking the time to read this. It is not always easy to write about a stay that had real problems, but it felt equally important to make sure the people who stepped up and made it right receive the recognition they deserve.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Richmond/Arboretum, responded to this review
Garrett, thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful account of your stay with us. First, we want to acknowledge how much we regret the challenges you and your wife faced at the outset, particularly with your room and the disruptions caused by other guests. We are grateful you brought these matters to our local team, allowing us to address them directly. It truly means a great deal to hear the ways Lashay, Tomasa, Ms. Annette, and our morning cook showed care and dedication throughout your visit. Your recognition of their individual contributions is deeply appreciated, and we will make sure each of them is celebrated within our team for the positive impact they had on your experience. We are especially grateful for your kind words regarding General Manager Andrea Carter. Her commitment to resolving concerns and going the extra mile for guests is at the core of who we strive to be as a team. It is wonderful to hear her actions restored your trust in us, and we are thankful you are willing to reconsider Hyatt because of her efforts. We also understand your concerns around the refund timeline and appreciate your candor. Our Guest Relations team has been made aware, and we will do everything possible to ensure the process moves as quickly as it can. Thank you again for recognizing the people who made a difference and for giving us the opportunity to learn and grow from your experience. We would be honored to welcome you and your family back to Hyatt Place Richmond Arboretum in the future.
Relatively acceptable
Relatively clean specious room with no bad smell; Same for hallways; Front desk should have informed me that electronic check in allowed me to check in earlier than the regular 3 pm check in time (had a wedding at 4 pm); Breakfast buffet cleanliness sub-par; Thought I smelled cannabis a few times;
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Richmond/Arboretum, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Jeff. We are glad your room and the hallways felt clean and comfortable during your stay. It’s disappointing to hear that breakfast buffet cleanliness and communication around early check-in were not up to our usual standards, and we understand how this affected your experience, especially on a day with important plans. We will ensure our housekeeping and Guest Relations teams review the concerns you raised. Your feedback helps us focus on what matters most, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know.
Beautiful rooms, not great policies
Loved the size and amenities of the room. I was surprised as a World of Hyatt member that there was a $20 fee for early checkin, which ended up being around $25 after fees and taxes. Despite paying the early check-in fee, we were placed in a very noisy area near the kitchen and staff areas. FYIi, there was also a daily parking fee, though this was stated clearly on the website when we reserved.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Richmond/Arboretum, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Camille. We are grateful you enjoyed your room’s size and amenities, but it concerns us to hear that the early check-in policy and your room’s location near a noisy area made your stay less enjoyable. Our Guest Relations team will review the experience you described, as well as your feedback regarding Hyatt loyalty program expectations. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your visit.
This place gives Hyatt a bad name.
This doesn't feel like a Hyatt at all: cheap, uncomfortable lobby, terrible fitness room, tiny bathrooms, subpar breakfast: yet they are charging over $200 per night! Not worth it. They also charge for parking per night, even though that's not clear in the advertising.
General Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Hyatt Place Richmond/Arboretum, responded to this review
Jennifer, we are truly sorry your visit did not reflect the experience you expected from our brand. It is disappointing to know that several aspects of your stay, including the feel of the property, amenities, and communication around extra charges, did not come through for you. Your comments will be shared with our leadership team so we can review the overall guest experience more closely. Thank you for sharing your perspective with us.
Unless you have to stay in the area, recommend another part of town
First off, this hotel might best be called "queen of the pigs" as hotels in this area were terrible. I was there to watch a college lacrosse tournament and I know of at least 2 teams that left name brand hotels after the first night due to their condition and perceived safety of the general location. The best I can say about this hotel is the team that stayed there while I was visiting did not leave which makes me hopeful the first room I had was not representative of the rest of the hotel. Had the hotel not relocated rooms for me, I would have left and not stayed the night. It smelled bad, lights did not turn off, the couch was stained, the bed was saggy, etc. Nothing good to say about room 1. Room 2, was the same layout but had fresh paint, a newer bed and pillows, a cleaner/newer couch, and a newer microwave. Positives for a single traveler: (1) bed and pillows were comfortable but not up to Hyatt standards, (2) layout was functional - having a kitchenette plus bathroom sink is useful, (3) shower was functional (but think there was a plumbing leak from the room above - reference photo), (4) new paint in the room, and (5) microwave in the room for my evening popcorn was appreciated.
