Hyatt 30 Minutes from Ann Arbor
Stayed at this hotel as I was not able to get a hotel in Ann Arbor due to family weekend at Michigan. We have stayed here before for the same reason. This hotel is in a very convenient location with a movie theatre next door and some great resturants. The bathrooms could be updated but all in all it is not a bad place to stay and there is free breakfast. The negative it is not close to UMich.

Michelle, we are glad Livonia has been a convenient option on past visits, though the distance from Ann Arbor can be a drawback during Michigan family weekend. It is good to know breakfast was a plus. Your note about the bathrooms has been shared with the teams responsible for that area. We appreciate your balanced perspective.
Underwhelming Hyatt
This hotel is in a great location but is in need of major remodeling to be a Hyatt Room windows was so bad we couldn't even see out of them and housekeeping needs to make sure someone is in room resting before entering Scared us to death

Never again
The hotel was falling apart, there was paint chips in the swimming pool area. Breakfast food was slim pickings. I feel like I could of eaten better at a days inn

Needs a deep cleaning
Hotel wasn't clean. Pool was dirty, tables/chairs in lobby were dirty, i had to switch rooms bc of pubes on the toilet seat.

Hannah, we are sorry the cleanliness of your room and the shared areas did not provide the comfortable stay you deserved. Having to change rooms because of the condition you encountered in your room is especially frustrating. Your comments about housekeeping have been shared with our housekeeping team. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Just say "No"
The hotel staff were friendly, but that's where it stops. The place has a smell, it's run down, and poor upkeep. My bathroom had black mold in the shower and I found two spiders in my bed at different times.
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review
Christy, we are very sorry your experience was so disappointing. The cleanliness concern you described in your bathroom and the situation you found in your room are deeply troubling. Our housekeeping and engineering teams will be reviewing your feedback carefully. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention, and we are grateful for the opportunity to improve.
I feel like I've been scammed
Even though she could not see the site I inquired about for the price match for the call center rep advised me to book the room and send the documentation and then I would receive the price match and then they decline to match the price saying "they do not match that site" so why tell me to book? When I arrived at the hotel they did not have enough room s for my entire family so the front desk agent agreed to cancel w/o penalty because they did not have enough rooms to accommodate my entire family and when I checked the site to verify everything was taken care of it showed that I had checked into the hotel .. I called the desk clerk agreed to go check the room to verify no was there and no key was issued. I was so upset because all I could think was fraud. Even they know I was never there they giving me hell about giving me a refund.
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review
We are deeply sorry for the distress and frustration you experienced during your interaction with our central reservations and throughout your arrival. Having your price match request misunderstood, along with difficulties regarding your family's accommodations, is not the level of transparency and care we expect from our reservation process or front desk team. The confusion about your check-in status and refund has clearly added to your disappointment, which we regret. Our Guest Relations team is reviewing your situation to ensure this is addressed properly and to prevent similar issues from impacting future guests. Thank you for sharing your experience—your feedback gives us the chance to make necessary improvements.
Would Definitely Stay Here Again!
I love this hotel! It is my home away from home when I am visiting family in Royal Oak. Nice breakfast, good lobby layout, unbeatable location. They need to add room safes and up the hot water in Room 629 the corner suite. One has to run the shower for 5 minutes to get hot vs. warm water. I shared that feedback last time I stayed here and it appears they are still working on it.
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review
Reading your review brought a smile to our faces, John. Being your home away from home, especially when visiting family, is something that means a lot to us. We are grateful you enjoy the breakfast, our welcoming lobby, and the location of Hyatt Place Detroit Livonia. We do appreciate your thoughtful suggestions regarding safes and the hot water in your guest room. Our engineering team continues to look into those concerns and your persistence in sharing them helps us as we work toward a better experience. We look forward to welcoming you back and thank you for making us your go-to hotel in the area!
Where is the staff?
The room itself was fine but there was only one person on staff and they had to work the front desk. The TV did not work properly and there was no way to change the output. When I called down to ask about this the front desk person had no idea how to fix it. They were helpful as they tried to contact the manager but the manager told them that they couldn't get a hold of the maintenance person and that was it. It was really disappointing. Also, the breakfast was just not good. We ended up going somewhere else for breakfast. It was a disappointing stay overall
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review

Needs Work
This is a worn out Hyatt Place property. The staff were friendly/professional, but that was the only high point of our 3 night stay! Hyatt Place breakfast is not what it used to be to be - watery powered eggs and everything served on foam plates with plastic utensils. We’ll stay somewhere else next time we’re in the area. My understanding is this location is under new ownership so hopefully things will improve in the next 12-18 months!

Dirty Bedding
The sheets were dirty, had dry blood and pee stains. Front desk had to be reminded twice, but the house cleaning took it more serious.
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review
Eddie, we are truly sorry that the condition of your bedding didn't exceed your expectations. However, upon inspection we had discovered the sheets were clean and new. Despite this, we honored the request and changed the sheets. We appreciate you reaching out to us with your feedback.
Very disappointed
Furniture in the front lobby/dinning area were dirty with stains on; single serving cream cups ran out for 3 day without refilling, only sweetener cream available; elevators were broken for the whole morning, need to carry our luggages down the stairs on check out day.
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review

Excellent guest services
Marina from the Front Desk was very helpful. She answered all my questions and explained the breakfast hour, but the breakfast food is of very low quality.

Pool closed both days:(
The room was clean, quiet, modern and in good repair. Check out at 12:00. The indoor pool was closed for both days due to foggy water. Staff were nice, bar was closed, breakfast was acceptable. Both shower gel bottles were empty. Exterior was nice. My biggest let down was the pool, if i knew the pool was closed I would have stayed elsewhere.
General Manager, Agency / Consultant at Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia, responded to this review
Thank you, John, for sharing your thoughts with us. We are glad to know your room was comfortable and that you found the environment welcoming. We are truly sorry for the disappointment you experienced with the pool closure, as well as the inconvenience with your shower gel bottles and the bar being unavailable. Does not meet Hyatt standards
This hotel is not what o have come to expect when staying at Hyatt properties The room was dirty upon arrival. Lots of crumbs by the bed, dusty, and a red sauce handprint on the wall. The pull out couch did not have any sheets, I had to go down to the front desk to ask for some. There were holes in the mattress. The shower curtain bar was mounted too high so the bottom of the curtain was above the base of the tub; water went everywhere. Shampoo bottle was empty. They could not keep up with the amount of people wanting breakfast. Eventually they ran out of muffins/bread/bagels and fruit, the only option was cereal.

Never again.
We booked a room at the Hyatt Livonia for the Champion Force Cheerleading Competition, as we have stayed many times at the Hyatt attached to the Suburban Collection Showplace and that location was unavailable. The rooms were decent when we arrived but upon close inspection, not very clean. Tape on all the walls from decoration that had been hung from a previous Tennant and even though we booked for 5 people, no bedding for the pull out sofa. When I went to the desk, to ask for it, I was told those items are in short supply and they would have to see what they could come up with. Hair on the counter outside of the bathroom, hair on the walls of the shower, no bodybwash and the conditioner was more water than anything else. Bedding on the beds consisted of two sheets and no heavy blanket. Breakfast was an even greater disappointment. We went down 2 different times hoping for a better result. Oatmeal gone. Cereal gone. Eggs gone. Potatoes nearly gone. Sausage gone. Waffle batter gone. Toppings for yogurt, but no yogurt to put them on. We even attempted the pool. Hair and dirt all over the pool deck and the railing to get out of the pool.was broken and an obvious safety hazard. Once I can figure out how to attach photos, I will update this review and include those. Overall, a very disappointed experience and not a location we will be returning to.

Don't stay here
Save yourself the frustration and stay elsewhere - this hotel does not meet Hyatt brand standards and the owner is obviously pinching pennies for maximum profit. The hotel is understaffed, poorly run, and the staff clearly does not care and is just going through the motions. The rooms are not kept up, dirty, the housekeeping is dismal, the beds are lumpy and are probably the original mattress form when this property opened. If you think you'll get a nice breakfast, think again - the breakfast area was a health violation waiting to happen. I realize it can be difficult to keep up with an almost 100% occupancy rate, but with appropriate staffing and training, along with an owner who cares about experience over profit, this is obtainable. Stay away from this Hyatt Place. The Courtyard across the highway is 10 times better.

The worst Hyatt I've stayed at.
I was disappointed with our stay here on January 3-4. When we arrived at the front counter to check in, the attendant hardly greeted us as she had headphones in and appeared to be on FaceTime or watching videos. She did not inform us when check out was, or what time breakfast was available for the next morning. Our room was clean, pretty standard for a Hyatt. At night the room was either freezing or extremely hot as the thermostat was at the other end of the room and it had a hard time regulating the temperature. The bed linens were horrible since it only included a top sheet and a thin quilt like blanket. We were cold all night and had to use the bath towels as extra weight and layers for warmth. The breakfast was AWFUL; the "eggs" were a dry cumbly mess, potatoes were basically uncooked, everything was cold and lacked flavor. We took 2 bites of our food and left to go to a restaurant because it was so gross. In recent years we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express down the street from this location and highly regret not going back there since we had a MUCH better experience. I would never recommend this Hyatt to anyone and typically I love Hyatt Hotels.

clean, affordable, modern
Nice and clean, modern. Nice price. Was a good place to sleep for a few nights while in Detroit for work. No complaints here. Breakfast was a decent standard hotel buffet.

Filthy.
Filthy, black mold in the bathroom, dead bugs between baseboards and carpet. Our room was reassigned to another guest - found out late at night when our card was inactive. Unbelievable.

Average hotel and accommodations but overall solid experience.
This hotel is sufficient and the staff during this stay were friendly. I didn't have to interact with them much. The food on the breakfast buffet was lacking. I arrived on a Sunday at around 9 am and the selections were sparse and waiting for someone to replenish some of the food took far too long with the amount of guests that were there. The coffee set up was lacking and everything was generally disorganized. My room was clean and comfortable but the linens were worn and the tub and bathroom are dated and shabby. I have stayed here multiple times and it has been sufficient enough but this hotel could use some upgrades and a much better breakfast experience. The location is great and the rates are fair. The amenities are sufficient. There's much potential to this hotel. I come to town to visit family regularly and look for something easy and accommodating to my needs so I have often chosen this place, but not every time. I do wish it would feel less haggard. I would stay here again if necessary.
