Avoid If You Have Other Options
I don't expect perfection from every hotel, and I generally have a high tolerance for older or budget properties. Unfortunately, this stay was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had in a long time. My first room was located next to the elevator, and every time the elevator moved there was a loud humming noise that made it difficult to relax or sleep. I requested a room change and was moved, but the second room introduced a whole new set of problems. The replacement room would not cool properly, and the condition of the room was disappointing. The shower had visible mold and grime around the door tracks and fixtures, to the point that I purchased Clorox wipes to clean parts of it myself. The sofa was torn and coming apart, making it look worn out and unsanitary. The television was another frustration. The hotel provides instructions because the setup is apparently complicated, but even after following them, most channels either showed "No Signal," heavy static, distorted colors, or barely watchable images. The attached photos show exactly what I experienced. The low point came at 6:45 a.m. when the fire alarm sounded. It went off twice more afterward. When I called the front desk for information, nobody answered. When I went downstairs, staff appeared unaware of what had occurred and offered no explanation or apology. It felt as though my room may have been involved in some type of testing, but no one could provide a clear answer. What disappointed me most was the customer service. Every concern seemed to be met with uncertainty or indifference. When I asked about the air conditioning, I was told they "thought" it was cooling because the unit didn't say "heat." When I raised other concerns, the response was essentially, "What would you like us to do about it?" or "Maybe someone will come up." Problems can happen at any hotel. What matters is how management responds. During my stay there was no meaningful attempt to resolve the issues, compensate for the inconvenience, or even acknowledge the disruption. The photos attached are from my room during this stay and document the television issues, room condition, and bathroom cleanliness concerns. Unless you have no other lodging options available, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I fully expect a canned response from a guest services representative to reply stating they "cannot verify every detail described," please note that I have included multiple photos from the property. Any attempt by Hyatt Place guest services to respond to this review is an attempt to show their care and responsiveness to guest experiences, but be warned that anyone reading this, please know that no one from Hyatt corporate or this property has made any attempt to reach out to me to address these concerns or make any attempt to correct the matter. Any response to this should be seen as a half hearted attempt to adhere to service standards and not a real care for their guests.

Worst ever Hyatt place in US
The worst Hyatt, they do not have staff, room service was the worst, photos provided online are not at par with the real thing, expensive than other better hotels. The customer staff at reception is poor and lack empathy and basic communication skills, looks like run just to make a quick buck, very dirt room, fridge not working, maintainance was very poor, staff not available before 10 am. The worst experience for the premium rates they charge.

I would book there again.
We booked for a convention and was pleased with the hotel. We had a large room which made it easy for 2 people to get ready at the same time. Very nice shower. Hotel has a happy hour for drinks and appetizers.

Good place to come again !
Location was great, it was a few min drive from a plaza that had many shops like Target, Burlington factory, dollar tree, dunkin etc and there were gas and breakfast options on walking distance too, My stay included breakfast but due to dietary restrictions we could only have natural or Kosher approved food fruits, boiled egg, pan cakes, milk, juices, i suggest to have a halal menu on the top and that requires a few preparation that can be done i guess. As for the room it was clean, spacious which is a min expectation as many show pics that don't match the real room but this one did ! I think they can add a microwave in it too which anyways was downstair. The sofa bed was good which i did not thought to open and only realised when i saw one of the rooms under cleaning with the sofa turned into a bed lolz. Overall it was good and rate this place to come again.

Mixed Experience
The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast fine. Most of the front desk sfaff were helpful and friendly. However, there were 2 that come to mind that were not as impressive as the others. The common areas need attention, especially the elevators. They made hard stops and the doors on one didn't always open. Thankfully, except for one time, I was outside of the elevator when that happened. I did mention the elevator to the front desk staff. The lobby does not make a good first impression, and one night there appeared to be a non-guest just hanging around outside the front of the hotel and that had a negative impact on my feeling safe there. This was not as positive an experience as my stays at other Hyatt Place Hotels.

Great atmosphere
I really enjoyed the bar and restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the grilled salmon and the house-made pasta, and the drinks were well made, with a bartender who crafted a perfect old fashioned. The atmosphere was relaxing, with soft lighting and comfortable seating that made it easy to unwind. The staff provided excellent service throughout my visit, checking in at just the right times. It was convenient to have such a great dining option right at the hotel.

Think twice because room conditions are horribly unsanitary
We checked in late at night after deciding to stop here and stay the night on a road trip. We disclosed we were traveling with our 4lb, 6 yr old poodle. They charged a $100 pet cleaning charge they said would be refunded after check out. They obviously assigned us a pet friendly room because we were smacked in the face with a thick, heavy, strong odor of pet cleaner and rancid ammonia smell from urine the second we opened the door. My husband tried turning on the outdated a/c unit under the window, which was horribly loud and would cycle through periods of time when it ran even louder and sounded like it was going to explode. He also cracked the window open, none of which helped, because the room and carpet was so damaged with prior pet stains. I developed a headache and a stinging sensation in my upper nasal passages from breathing in the horrid stench. We gathered our things and went to the front desk at 3am, fully ready to leave if there was nothing else available. The desk clerk told us they were fully booked but eventually gave us a handicapped room. We slept for a couple hours and I inquired about the $100 per deposit charge when we checked out the next morning. It was a different desk clerk and she informed me it was a flat $100 NON-REFUNDABLE pet fee. Even after their poor showing of their hotel standards and causing us inconvenience and discomfort, they offered zero compensation, not even an apology. She acted shocked and like it was the first she heard about our complaint, when told her I hoped they were working on that room they initially assigned us, as I told the night clerk it was uninhabitable and they should NOT assign guests to that room until its issues are fully fixed. It was obvious nothing had been passed on, or done about that room and I’m not confident anything was addressed after we walked out, either. We travel extensively and have never been charged a $100 pet fee and it’s clear that Hyatt is pocketing money from responsible pet guests and not holding irresponsible ones accountable for their own damages. The most we’ve incurred is a $30-$50 small dog fee/stay. Our one tiny dog cost more to stay here than it cost for my husband and I, in absolutely disgusting and unhealthy conditions. They’re obviously not putting any pet fee revenue back into room damage. It really makes one NOT want to be honest about having a pet, especially when these are the conditions they find acceptable to give us AND charge us an exorbitant non refundable pet fee, to boot. No one has been willing to compromise with us on ANYTHING. I’m an airline pilot and live in hotel rooms 1/2 of my life. This was the WORST hotel experience I’ve ever had, as far as basic sanitary expectations and standards that fell far below the bar!!! I would give zero stars if able.

Surprised to find a good hotel at a relaxing area in Chicago!!
The location was perfect for us and the atmosphere was perfect too, nice and not so congested. The room was big and I felt comfortable with having a couch in the room. The value was reasonable and not too expensive. The cleanliness in the room was kept up very well for those 3 days we stayed. The service was excellent; the staff was very helpful and always willing to answer any questions. I was happy to find out that they had an ice-cream popsicle as I was craving for ice-cream and instead of going out again after dinner, they surprised me with an ice-cream popsicle!!! It saved me a trip to have to go out again, it made my night to relax and enjoy the popsicle. Thank you!

Swing and Miss
I recently stayed at another Hyatt in a different part of the country and there was a night and day difference. This hotel was more run-down, staff wasn't as friendly, and things just didn't work in this hotel. The right side elevator broke multiple times while we were there and the lights for the buttons didn't work. Inside the elevator, the flooring was coming up creating a tripping hazard. Regarding breakfast, a second waffle station would be a huge improvement. It takes 2:30 minutes to make a waffle, probably close to 4 minutes by the time some nitwit figures out how to work it. If there are multiple people in front of you, it could be an 8-12 minute wait for free breakfast. The paper plates and plastic utensils from Walmart made the experience even less impressive. The pool was nice and clean. Having some towels available downstairs by the pool would have been nice though. Upon check-in, I confirmed that my room was not near an elevator and was told it was halfway down the hall. It was in-fact one room away from the elevator and unfortunately kept me up at night. The trash in the hallways overflowed each day, and dirty plates/bowels remained on the table outside the elevator for half the day. The light in our bathroom was extremely dim and the fan did not work in the bathroom. Also, the tile in the shower was coming off the wall. The couch cushion was coming apart on one side and the pullout bed was so uncomfortable that my 8 year old refused to sleep on it. The air conditioning was unable to keep the room cold during the night. Also, the bed was so close to the A/C vent that the cold air is unable to reach the other side of the room. The television reception was terrible as well, only a handful of channels even worked. The location was convenient and in a safe location. Parking was easily accessible. I won't be staying at this hotel again.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet the standards you have come to expect from Hyatt. We regret the maintenance issues you encountered, including the elevator concerns, bathroom fixtures, furniture condition, television reception, and air conditioning performance. We also understand your frustration regarding the cleanliness of common areas, the breakfast setup and wait times, and the location of your room near the elevator despite your request. Your comments regarding staff interactions and overall upkeep are especially concerning and have been shared with our management team for immediate review and corrective action. While we’re pleased to hear that you found our pool clean and appreciated our convenient, safe location with accessible parking, we are truly sorry that these positives were overshadowed by the issues you experienced. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention. Sincerely, Guest Service Representative
Not the worst, not the best but won’t return
Reserved a double room online as an Hyatt member and when we arrived it was “unavailable” so we were put in a single king bed room. I’m mostly bothered that if the room wasn’t available, it shouldn’t have been offered online. The bed was very uncomfortable, bathroom was very small, and when we got there all the lights were on, TV was blaring, and couch cushions were on the floor. Just odd. The man at the check in was very kind. Overall not the worst, but definitely not the best experience and we won’t return next time.

Not worth the $$
Old hotel. Nice staff. Breakfast was bleak, rooms are strange and you can hardly get in / out of the bathroom as the door hits the toilet. NOT worth the $$ they are charging.

Pass on stay, this place has motel vives and I was not comfortable with kids touching or laying around the hotel and it.
I would choose a different location. Staff was nice but place is unkept. The staff was very nice but at the end of the day I understand it’s just a. Job and most do the bare minimum.

Get stay off interstate on way into Chicago
Rooms were very large and spacious, we had a great living room area. Breakfast was of great quality and hot things were hot and cold things were cold. The pool is much larger than many hotel pools, especially getting near the city like this; this pool area is dated and could use a refresh. Oh, and pool towels were large! I nice little bonus. There is no hot tub. The hotel is very conveniently located off of interstate (was a perfect one night stay getting in late for us, and then into the city the next morning). I don't think our room had either a fridge or a microwave; not entirely sure. If that is important, be sure to check details closely for your selected room.
General Manager, Owner at Hyatt Place Chicago/Hoffman Estates, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad to know you enjoyed the spacious room layout, the quality of the breakfast, and the larger pool area, as well as the convenience of our location for a quick stop before heading into the city. We appreciate your note about the pool area needing a refresh and will keep this in mind as we plan future updates. Your comments regarding in-room amenities are also helpful, and we encourage guests to review room details when certain features are important. We are grateful for your feedback and hope to welcome you again. Sincerely, Guest Service Representative
