Hotel repairs needed, but otherwise good for a stay.

Hotel needs repairs. The bath spout was bent and sticking out of the wall without the trim plate attached. The pull bar had a trim plate not attached to the wall. The AC fan was a bit noisy. The floors were so dirty that walking on them barefoot briefly made my sheets dirty when I got into the bed. The radio alarm kept going off at midnight. On the positive side, the room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was satisfactory. I might stay here again.

A regular transition stop a few times per year

Jordan at the front desk was great. Happy, friendly, helpful, competent. We’ll stay again just because of him. He made sure we had everything we needed and actually made sure our room requests were met. The hotel has improved from our last visit, the common areas and room were clean and comfortable. The breakfast staff kept everything full and clean, and were friendly.

    Great value and pretty

I needed a hotel for a Trip for business and this exceeded all expectations. It was clean. It was beautiful and I love the palm trees and pool.

    10/10 Service, Room, Comfort

Beautiful hotel, spacious room, very clean throughout, and outstanding service. Enjoyed my quick stay. Definitely exceeded my expectations for hotels in Columbia area.

    Not returning.

Wouldn’t be back. Would rather stay at Hilton, IHG and Marriott chain hotels. I expected more from a HYATT hotel. Hope it gets better.

Extremely too much time spent at Service guest checking in and checking out

Checking in and checking out at the service desk took extremely too long. They were having trouble with the computer system. took over 30 minutes to check in in 15 minutes to get a receipt printed out

    Another Let Down in Life

This was a recommended hotel but it was not as expected. Although it was relatively clean it had many maintenance issues such as; Lightbulbs out in a few lamps. Weak tv remote. No shower soap. Commode ran almost off and readjust flap each day. No ice bucket bag. Key failed to work after a day. Coffee urn empty at breakfast and when it did have coffee it was weak and tepid in temperature. Other than this it was nice

    less than Hyatt standards

Not the quality I expected from a Hyatt based on other stays. Very tired looking. Clean in appearance. Breakfast so-so. No microwaves in room. Cheap furnishings. Very crowded which made it less appealing. Over 20 people in the lobby area hanging out at night...loudly and chaotically. I would not recommend this hotel.

Sad to see Hyatt in this condition

Hotel rooms were not that great and somewhat worn out. Needs updated. First room had a horrible smell and hole in the ceiling. Lobby and breakfast was good.

    Do not waste your money.

As soon as we stepped on the elevator we could tell the hotel had not been cleaned in months. Our room was not much better. The pull out mattress was so stained that my kids refused to sleep on even with clean sheets. Unfortunately, the clean sheets that were delivered also had brown stains on them. The shower was rusted. I’m not sure the pillows could even be considered pillows. It was overall just a very unpleasant experience so we will not be staying at another Hyatt Place for a quick nights stay. I guess you get what you pay for, but Even other “1 star tiered” hotel chains are not that bad. I’ve stayed in plenty of lower level Marriott and Hilton and it doesn’t even compare.

Broken TV and Elevator down button

This is my second stay at the hotel. My first time staying on the 3rd floor. I checked in late. I unpacked my luggage and needed to go back down to my car for other stuff and the 3rd floor elevator down button didn't work. I had to hit the up button to get a ride down from the elevator going up. That night it was busy, so I hitched a ride from the 3rd floor to the 4th or 5th floor, then finally got down to the 1st floor. I finally got my stuff up to the room and unpacked for the stay. I turned on the TV, with the remote, and it turned on, but there was a no signal message being displayed. I checked the back of the TV and to coaxial cable was broken off where it screwed onto the back of the TV. I tried to find a phone in the room to call the front desk, but didn't find one, so I had to take the elevator journey back down to let the front desk know the TV situation and I needed a new room. I told the front desk person about the situation, and she said, “did you check the power cable on the TV was plugged in” I thought What? Shouldn’t the Hotel staff do that before they rent the room? I proceeded to tell her the coaxial cable was broken and it needed a new cable. And with no apology, she said you need to move your stuff out of the room before I change you room number. So I went up, packed up my stuff, placed it somewhere nobody would hopefully take it, and took my elevator journey back down to get my new room number. Still no apology what so ever!!! The 3rd floor elevator down button was broken for my four day stay and there was no indication or sign of when or if it would be fixed. So who knows how long it has been this way. I frequent Irmo a lot, but don't plan on staying at the hotel again so I guess it doesn't matter. Just hope you don’t get a room on the 3d floor and hope you don’t have the same front desk I had to deal with. Good Luck!!!

If you're going to carry a name (Hyatt) carry the quality behind it.

Professionalism and appearance is everything, or at least it should be. Now the Young man and young lady in training were very hospitable from beginning to end. The hotel itself was not what I expected under the umbrella name of Hyatt. The room was tiny for a two bath and a sofa sleeper. The bathroom was old, moldy & mildew looking with a ceiling that was patched up poorly. The TV was NOT plugged up and my grandson had to go behind the wall to plug it up. The tub was horrible looking. The bathroom itself was mold/mildew looking. Yes! The nice desk people tried to change my room a couple of time, but those rooms weren't any better.

    Graduation Weekend

Fantastic staff. Very friendly and helpful. I would have appreciated some hand sanitizer in or near the breakfast/dinning area.

    Ok for a short stayover

Needs repairs, good location though. You can tell they cut corners every opportunity they have. Overpriced for the quality.

    Wouldn’t stay again.

Staff was responsive and helpful however the ice machines available to customers were all broken and they need to buy new bed comforters as they look ‘moldy’.

Some are "upscale" -- some a little less!

Hyatt Place is described as an "upscale select-service brand" and that may be true for some of the properties in this chain. However, service levels at THIS property have slipped. It's the little things: 1--two ice machines -- neither working -- but staff directed us to both. 2--breakfast over at 9:30am but when we got to the lobby at 9:37am, every TRACE of coffee and breakfast had been removed -- not possible in 7 minutes! What time did it REALLY end???? 3--the well-known Hyatt Place large flat-panel "swivel" TV has been replaced with a smaller wall-mounted flat-screen version. It swings out, but still....... The positives: the property is clean. Bedding/linen is Hyatt's typical high standard. Plenty of hot water. There's adequate lighting. Property feels safe. Excellent rate (under $100). Just adjust your expectations down a notch and you'll be satisfied.

Mediocre Hotel with a lot of Problems.

Location: Conveniently located for getting on highway and around Irmo. Atmosphere: 1st floor and elevators smelled; Lobby also smelled but visually was good and physically was somewhat comfortable. Rooms: Poorly lit; a bit unclean with sticky floors across the whole room, dirt/gunk spots on the bed sheets, toilet had very visible dirty water stains going down the side, toilet has flushing problem that could easily cause flooding (even on an empty flush), shower was terribly lit and didn't drain well. Value: My job paid for this and I want a refund. For it's value; it's not cheap and much less worth it. Spend the extra $50/night and stay somewhere else that's close by. Cleanliness: In addition to the room's cleanliness, roaches could occasionally be seen dead in the hallways (visible dead roaches = invisible living roaches). The public restroom near the lobby seemed clean from my quick run-in there. Noise level: Fairly quiet except when cleaning staff were in the next room; they were deafeningly loud when they talked. Service: Lobby staff was nice and welcoming. Amenities: Breakfast was above average in taste and quality and was convenient. Pool was closed.

All around the best of experiences at a Hotel!

The location off of the highway is terrific! The room was very nicely laid out with a king size bed. Modern decor. I was on the third floor. I stayed Sunday night through Thursday night. The pricing was terrific. Everyone on their staff from housekeeping, maintenance, front end, breakfast lady...they were all very cheery! Makes for a really really nice stay. I enjoyed my stay there so very much that I signed up for their Hyatt Frequent Guest Program. I don't think I'll ever go back to the Choice Hotels.

    Awful

Awful hotel. GM is clueless. Waited in line until 10 PM to check in only to have them cancel all 3 of my rooms and leave me completely stranded. No apology. Didn’t send us to a new hotel. Just canceled at 10 PM.
