    It's not spooky.

I had a great experience at this historic hotel. It used to be a hospital so it made the ambiance really neat. There were no ghosts that I encountered. The hotel is very convenient to the conventions in the area and it was significantly less expensive. That was my original decision for choosing this hotel. I feel like I came away a winner because the hotel is fantastic, the service was excellent, and pickup and drop-off with Ubers was very fast and efficient. The rooms are clean. Great water pressure with the shower. You can tell that the the hotel's bones are from an old hospital. The ceilings are high and the aisles are wide. They have a tiny museum inside so you can see the history of the building with some different artifacts from over the years. I would highly recommend this Hyatt if you're staying in Chicago. It was a great home base for me for 4 days.

That bit of history gives a stay here a character all its own, and we’re glad you enjoyed discovering the building’s past. The small museum offers a special glimpse into that story, so it’s lovely to hear it added to your visit. At Hyatt Place Chicago - Medical University District, we’re pleased the location worked well for your convention plans and offered such good value. We’ve shared your kind words about the service with our team. Quick Uber pickups and drop-offs can make a busy trip easier, and we’re glad those went smoothly. It’s great that your room felt clean and comfortable, with shower pressure you enjoyed. We’d be happy to welcome you back to Chicago for another stay!

    United Center- Walkable Stay

Great staff, food, location, and parking! Try to get a room facing away from the very well lit parking lot. Our blackout curtain didn't come all the way down so we had a beam of light shooting into the room while we slept. Otherwise, great location for a concert or event at the United Center that is walkable.

Philip, being able to walk to the United Center makes Hyatt Place Chicago - Medical University District a convenient choice for concerts and events. We are glad our food and parking added to the ease of your visit. We are sorry the blackout curtain in your room did not fully close, allowing light in while you were sleeping. Your comments about the curtain have been shared with our engineering team, and we hope to welcome you again for another event.

    Underwhelming stay for conference

Loging here because of attending conference. The location was ok but there was construction nearby during stay which made it difficult to enter the street where hotel locates. The breakfast was really underwhelming like cheap products from cooperative stores. The toilet was clogged during midnight of second night which was very annoying for the morning since all the floor was wet in the bathroom. The staff members were really kind and responsive though. Given the price and the location, I would recommond some other properties around downtown area at least they provide better breakfast.

    Nice hotel, but soft mattresses.

Excellent staff. Beautiful architecture. Lots of quiet nooks to read. Poor mattress quality though. Very soft. Somewhat firmer in middle.

A great stay in a beautiful building for a very good price

This building is beautiful, far better than what we were expecting, and has a fascinating history. The reception area is very open and well organized, everything is exactly where you expect it to be, and staff are happy to help you locate things in and around the hotel. The room doors are surprisingly heavy, which was an interesting but welcome point of interest. The 2 bed bedroom we stayed in was well laid out and functioned perfectly fine for us - well insulated too, no outside noise at all despite being right in the hospital district. Breakfast was decent, a little less on offer than competing hotels, but not worth complaining over... the inclusion of toaster-waffles is an odd decision though. There's also a small museum dedicated to the hotel's history that while we didn't get to visit this time, we would love to come back and see. All this for it to have been the cheapest room we could find in downtown Chicago, located less than a 10 minute drive from Thalia Hall, was excellent. A small surface parking lot reserved for the hotel in the back as well, but watch out - the cost might be a bit steep for some.

A wonderful place to stay for a medical appointment at Rush.

The building is stunning and has an amazing history. Enjoyed the museum. Perfect location if you have a medical appointment at Rush. Very clean and very quiet. Comfortable bed. Excellent staff. Easy Uber to many excellent downtown restaurants. Only disappointment was limited hours and menu choices for lunch/dinner at the H Bar.

    Great hotel

Lovely hotel with lots of interesting history. The rooms and breakfast were great and check-in and parking were easy. Toni at the front desk was so welcoming and kind! She went the extra mile to find my reservation and it made our trip stress free. I wish there was a Toni at every hotel. I'd definitely go back and stay there.

    Wonderful wedding gathering

My daughter got married in Chicago and many family members stayed at Hyatt Place. The staff happily arranged for all our family to be on the same floor near each other. The space on the second floor to hang out, gather around the tv or sit at the bar was perfect for us to be all together outside our rooms. The space was beautiful and clean and staff were always smiling and ready to help with whatever we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

    Don’t stay here

This place looks nothing like the pictures. I would compare the rooms to a college dorm. The surrounding area is not safe for walking.

    Nice hotel, not kid friendly

The hotel is big and beautiful and ideal location for our purposes. The breakfast is not great but I didn't expect it to be. It is not kid friendly but manageable. Most likely not staying here again when we return next year with the family.

Would highly recommend - Staff is top-notch

The staff was perfectly lovely - would legitimately rival The Ritz-Carlton in the care and consideration. I had a special occasion and the zipper on my dress broke and Elizabeth, one of the manager, literally helped fix the zipper with a sewing kit. Everyone was attentive and professional. The rooms were large and while a bit basic, the second-level lobby area was large and gorgeous

    All good.

Location to United Center was perfect walking distance. $35 Parking per night vs. most places in Chicago have a ramp and you get charged if you leave as well this was come and go. Spots are TIGHT and not secure so slight possibility of theft, but not an issue while we stayed. Clean and spacious rooms and bathrooms, Hallways are gigantic and echo, but not terrible. The bar area is TIGHT and we couldnt enjoy the happy hour time due to crowding, but this didnt hinder our experience we just went out instead. Not a terrible distance from downtown, but would need to UBER or drive to get to everything.
