Shower took 2 days to repair. Window blinds only worked intermittently. Room service not available 24 hrs. Check in took much too long.

The hotel service was extremely disappointing. There were no suitable halal food options, and almost all the main dishes contained pork. The waiters were rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. There was no sense of hospitality or customer care whatsoever. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, and I expected much better service and consideration for guests with different dietary requirements.

This was my first time in Shanghai and I’ve chosen Hyatt on the Bund specifically for the location and the good views that they have from the rooms. I was really satisfied and my expectations were met. The staff was always ready to help, they’re handy and always smiling! Overall I slept well during my stay, the beds are comfy and the noise level is optimal. A particular appreciation to the housekeepers, the room was always perfect and smelled nice. I never had to call back for any kind of problem. Whenever I’ll go back to Shanghai, I’ll stay in this hotel again!

We were very disappointed with the handling of our arrival at Hyatt on the Bund. We had requested an early check-in in advance and fully understood that this was subject to availability. However, after a long intercontinental journey we arrived at around 1 p.m. and were simply told that no room would be available before 3 p.m. We explained that we needed to rest, shower and change before a private tour at 4 p.m., but no alternative or practical solution was offered. The explanation was that the hotel was fully booked and that it was a public-holiday period. Both circumstances were foreseeable. In a hotel of around 620 rooms, and with our request known in advance, we would have expected at least some effort to prioritise a suitable room or find another solution. We have travelled to more than 70 countries and know many leading international hotel chains. We are well aware that early check-in cannot always be guaranteed. Our criticism is not the lack of a guarantee, but the apparent lack of organisation, flexibility and genuine effort to assist. For a hotel of this category, this was extremely disappointing.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are modern and clean, although I wouldn’t call the hotel ultra-luxury. What really stands out is the view — almost every room has a great view of the Huangpu River and the Bund. You really can’t beat the location. The service was also a highlight, especially Chris Lee, the Hotel Manager. We had an issue with the shower water temperature, and Chris personally came with the engineer to check on it. He followed up with us several times and even stayed past his shift to make sure the issue was eventually fixed. Chris was very attentive and really listened to what we needed. He also sent us a thoughtful gift box of mooncakes as an apology for the inconvenience, which was a very nice touch. We also asked him about the hotel’s sister property, and he was very knowledgeable and gave us a helpful, honest comparison of the pros and cons of each. Overall, we had a great stay. The location and views are hard to beat, and the warm, personal service from Chris really made a difference. We would definitely come back.

Overall, it was a pretty great experience! I received a welcome email a day before arrival asking about my room preference, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing view from the room. They also provided a bottle of red wine in the room for my partner and me to celebrate our 6-month anniversary, which was a really nice touch.

I went with my fiancé at the end of our visit to China and we stayed at the Hyatt. The place is a high end hotel with nice amenities like top floor area restaurant and bar with some nice views of the city. It was a short walk to the river walk and lots of downtown sights. Ferries and cargo boats constantly went up and down the river. The room were nice and we had a small refrigerator, double sinks and double shower head including a rain head. We used points but couldn’t get a high floor unless we got two beds but that’s a Hyatt thing I guess. Overall it is elegant and we enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful stay made exceptional by the staff. The club lounge team was warm and attentive without being intrusive, while the front desk handled our check-in, extension, and billing with seamless efficiency. Highly recommended!

Nice place and goof location with good breakfast, lots of choices. Ground staff very helpful and friendly during check in and check out.

The hotel sees Huangpu river, which is definitely of great view. However I can't expect a normal 5 star hotel service or a modern hardware even it was renovated 2 years ago. Compared to my stay in Grand Hyatt, Shenzhen, I can't give it a like/love review based on its insufficient, unprofessional service.

We got room upgrade with beautiful oriental pearl tower and Lujiazui view. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. There were plenty of choices for the breakfast buffet. The view on the 32nd floor (in the bar) was spectacular! We all enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is quiet in the morning and yet just a few minutes walking to the center of bund. The view from the room is incredible. And all the staff are nice and helpful, especially those who help with the luggage loading. Room is clean and modern. The only issue is that the shower is within the same room with the bath. The floor can get slippery after shower.

Great views of the Bund! We had a high floor 31st - and the Club was great if this is included for you. Complimentary breakfast and also in the evenings, drinks and snacks. The atmosphere more intimate and great feeling. We could walk to the Bund in 10 minutes, and Nanjin road in 12 minutes - very convenient. It is not a waterfront property but if you get a high floor or the sections that has a Bund view - then it is great.

Shocked to see foldable garden chairs and tables in a Grand Hyatt premise. Notwithstanding the room was themed “Camping Room”, but to be charged Grand Hyatt rates only to be sitting in a creaking foldable chair is not my idea of what the Grand Hyatt guests’ touch point experience should be. Perhaps if I’m checking into a Caption by Hyatt premise, I would be half expecting such experience. But it definitely won’t be Grand Hyatt rates that I’ll be paying if that’s the case.

We stayed at the hotel for kids’ spring break trip. The view from the hotel is stunning. It sits right at the bund. Mourning jogs along the river have been the highlight of our trip. Walking from the hotel along the bund to Nanjing walking street was convenient. Staff have been super nice and quick to help. The food at the hotel amazed everyone in my family. Great vacation hotel to enjoy what Shanghai has to offer.

Everything was ON PAR and I would def go back. The ONLY negative thing is that my room couldn’t lower the air temperature to at least 20 Celsius. I normally sleep on a colder scale, not freezing, bit a cooler temp than the set room temp of 22. That was too hot for me. But I would DEF go back! Even to their spa!

My stay at Hyatt on the Bund was very disappointing. The first room had a strong cigarette smell (reserved for nonsmoking room), the hallway had heavy food odors, and the neighbor room was noisy (they kept the door open and seemed having a party). When I reported issues with my room, the front dest staff, Mia Kang was noticeably unhelpful and dismissive. I even said that smell of cigarettes makes me headache, but Mia Kang did not attempt to understand my concerns and even responded with an inappropriate smirk while simply saying the hotel was fully booked. Fortunately another staff member eventually assisted me giving me another room which was slightly better but it was still not properly cleaned (eyelash extensions someone had already used were stuck on the table) Overall, the experience did not meet Hyatt’s standards

Well located on the Bund with beautiful views. Hotel and room styling is modern and very pretty, but the actual finishes themselves are quite tired. Service level was absent aside from housekeeping (who were lovely). Would absolutely stay again if priced well, but not competitive with hotels of higher caliber and service.

We arrived late since we were doing the 240hr transit visa, but we were still greeted warmly by Mr Ekko Yun. I didn’t speak much mandarin, but luckily he spoke excellent English so communication wasn’t an issue at all. We got an upgrade to the room with the view of the Bund, so that was very nice of him. The room was clean and cozy, with the room temperature being nice and warm since it was still cool in the early spring. We had a really good breakfast in the morning with a nice variety of options of western and Chinese food. Since it was our first time at this Hyatt, Mr Yun made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. Our stay at the Hyatt at the Bund was very pleasant, but honestly we were really even more impressed with the level of service provided. Thank you Mr Yun for making our trip even more memorable.
