Historic Sites

Old Town

Nestled in the heart of downtown Wichita just blocks from our hotel. Among the brick-lined streets and historic lampposts are a collection of converted brick warehouses dating back to the mid 1800s. With more than 100 businesses, Old Town has become a destination sought out for its restaurants, shops, clubs, theaters, galleries, museums, and stores.

Historic Delano District

Welcome to Delano shopping and entertainment district, one of Wichita's oldest neighborhoods. Originally a cowtown at the end of the famed Chisholm Trail, Delano quickly gained a reputation as a place where trail-weary cowboys could take their rest and recreation in the many saloons and brothels.

Keeper of the Plains

The Keeper of the Plains sculpture was Designed by Blackbear Bosin and constructed by Tom Washburn in 1974. Placed at the confluence of the Big and Little Arkansas Rivers in downtown Wichita, the sculpture is illuminated for 15 minutes each evening, seven days a week. Be sure to look for the troll who lives near the Keeper and keeps him company.

Wichita Art Museum

The Wichita Art Museum, founded in 1935, has a distinguished history in South Central Kansas and the Midwest. From 1939 to 1962, Mrs. Elizabeth Stubblefield Navas, a friend and business associate of by Mrs. Roland Murdock, selected works of American art for the museum. Now 8,000 strong, the prized collection emphasizes American art.

Music Theater of Wichita

Music Theatre Wichita is a summer musical theatre, which has produced over 200 Broadway-scale productions since its founding in 1972. Each year at Century II Performing Arts Center in downtown Wichita, MTWichita self-produces five Broadway-scale musical productions, using a unique mixture of top-flight professionals from Broadway and Hollywood working hand-in-hand with talented Midwesterners.

INTRUST Bank Arena

INTRUST Bank Arena is a modern, state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue, perfect for concerts. Located in the heart of downtown Wichita with trendy restaurants, shops and eclectic entertainment options nearby, the INTRUST Bank Arena is the premier arena in the Midwest.

Family Fun

​Sedgwick County Zoo

An award-winning wildlife park and attraction with fun for the whole family. Home to over 3000 animals, the Sedgwick County Zoo is the most popular attraction in Kansas. Exhibits include the Koch Orangutan & Chimpanzee Habitat, Downing Gorilla Forest, Reed Family Elephants of the Zambezi River Valley, and the Cessna Penguin Cove to name a few.

Botanica Wichita Gardens

A collection of themed gardens, spread over 18 acres and located in the heart of Wichita. Stunning gardenscapes feature over 4,000 species of plants both native and new to the region. Botanica is open year round including the holiday season when over one million holiday lights illuminate the gardens.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park & Interactive Zoo

One of Wichita's most unique experiences. This exotic destination is located 15 miles west of the city and features once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to interact with wildlife such as ring-tailed lemurs, giraffes and pygmy hippos.

NBC World Series

Showcasing the best amateur baseball talent in America and around the world, the NBC World Series is a who's-who for the future of the Major Leagues. Thirty teams compete in a two week double elimination tournament culminating in an exciting championship game.

Wichita Force Football

Professional Indoor Football team that plays at Intrust Bank Arena. An original member of the Champions Indoor Football League, the Force has maintained a winning record every season while winning the CIF Championship in 2016.

Wichita Wind Surge Double-A Baseball

The Wichita Wind Surge are a Minor League Baseball team of the Texas League and the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. Their inaugural year was in 2021 at Wichita's brand new Riverfront Stadium, located on the Arkansas River. Follow along on the team's website for more information.
