Taman Ismail Marzuki

Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) is a cultural landmark since its inception in 1968. The 7.2-hectare complex has Planetarium Jakarta and Institut Kesenian Jakarta (IKJ), with several theatre halls designed for art performances, and Perpustakaan Jakarta Cikini, which contains more than 100,000 books in a stylish communal library concept. Extensively renovated in 2021, TIM now features modern architecture that stands out amidst quaint shops along Cikini Street.

Metropole XXI

Jakarta History Museum

National Monument

Located in the centre of Merdeka Square, the National Monument of Republic Indonesia is a 132-metre tower built in the commemoration of Indonesia's independence. Visitors can discover a museum inside the tower and a great variety of plants in the vast green surrounding. There is also a water fountain that dances to tuneful beats on certain evenings. Most locals call the monument as Monas.

Formulation of Proclamation Text Museum

The 1,138-metre-square mansion captures the historic events and dramatic moments leading to Soekarno's proclamation of independence back in 1945. Photos of political figures who had made it all happen adorn the walls of the two-story museum. The building alone was built in 1920s, once habited by rear admiral Tadashi Maeda during the Japanese occupation.

Jakarta History Museum

The beautiful site was originally built as the city hall of Batavia under the Dutch occupation in 1710. The architecture took after the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, one of the three palaces in the Netherlands. First opened as a museum in 1974, the building recounts the evolution of Batavia to Jayakarta to the present metropolis of Jakarta. Among the locals, this historic destination is known as Museum Fatahillah.

National Museum of Indonesia

One of the finest museums in Southeast Asia, the National Museum of Indonesia houses more than 141,000 objects of prehistoric artifacts, ceramics, ethnography and other collections. The site itself has several buildings, including Gedung Arca, the latest one, unveiled in 2017. This museum is also popularly known as the Elephant Museum, owing to the elephant statue in the entrance garden.
