Cook County Hospital Museum | Hyatt House Chicago - Medical/University District
Designed by architect Paul Gerhardt, this Beaux Arts style building opened in 1914 and served as the cook county hospital until it closed in 2002. Often described as Chicago’s Ellis Island, the hospital served all residents of cook county and no one was turned away. 106 years later the redevelopment of this Chicago landmark, now consists of our Dual Branded Hyatt House and Hyatt Place hotels, medical and office space for cook county health, food hall, and a museum showcasing the rich history and legacy of the hospital.
