Hotel Activities

2.5 Acre Water Playground

Splash into our signature water playground complete with 10 pools including a sand beach, 30’, 3-story high speed waterslide, poolside cabanas and H2Oasis, offering favorite foods alfresco and novel, “can’t resist” retail. If that is not enough, guests can stroll across a 160’long, 14’ aqueduct that crosses over six pools, play a game of water volleyball or basketball or relax in the Grecian-style water temple, a Jacuzzi-style spa housing 25 people and surrounded by four plunge pools. More than 40 water spouts and 20 fountains spill water down into the pools below. Other highlights include pools for two, a quiet pool for swimmers and the “adult-only” pool where guests can swim around the 20’ “Big Gun” thunderfall, a 5’ wide rushing waterfall, or for those who prefer a slower pace and designed for bather play, there is the “Cascade” waterfall, which gently drops water over a 30’ wide, three-level fall. There is even the Grotto Bar, poolside.

Experiential Activities

For kids, families and adults, we provide many activities that connect to our destination, and provide the opportunity to experience the climate and culture of the Sonoran Desert. Seasonally and during holidays, activities such as s’mores around the campfire, Native American Beadwork display, Native American dancing, mixology classes and guacamole making are just some of the programs that are hosted by the resort. Poolside programming often includes face painting, sand castle building, water balloon toss, dive-in movies and more. Additionally, Camp Hyatt for young resort guests ages 3-12, provides fun-filled activities daily.

Friday Afternoons at Hyatt

Join us every Friday in Fountain Court for Experiential Offering’s, “Arizona Birds of Prey Take Flight.” From 4-5PM, Liberty Wildlife’s education team presents its rescued “winged warriors.” Birdman Joe and his colleagues showcase Maggie the owl, Salsa the Red-tailed Hawk, Aurora the American Bald Eagle and others, sharing stories and allowing for up close and personal viewing of each special bird. Pictures and selfies with each are welcome and encouraged! At 5PM, Native American dancers then take you on a cultural journey to the First Nations of Arizona and North America through music and dance. More opportunities to experience and document the unique culture of Arizona.


Transport yourself to the romantic waterways of Venice aboard four authentically handcrafted Italian Gondola boats, steered through the beautiful waterways of our resort by professional gondoliers. These classically trained singers will provide an Italian serenade as you cruise through the resort's seven acre lake. Celebrate special events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, engagements, romantic dates or just go for the fun of the memories you’ll create with family and friends! For 33 years, Center Stage Bar has been recognized for its signature live, nightly entertainment. On-site Recreation

Rock Climbing Wall, Putting Green & Fun Zone

Take your adventures to new heights! Our 28-foot climbing wall is the perfect complement to the many hotel activities available for the entire family to enjoy. Closed toed shoes are required for climbing and participants must be between 30lbs-300lbs and securely fit into the harness. You can choose from two different climbing options, $8 for two climbs or $15 for unlimited climbing throughout the day. Come play a game of Giant Jenga, Giant Chess, Giant Connect Four or practice your putting skills in our backyard! Or, grab a club and balls and head to our putting green. For equipment, visit the Towel Bar or you are welcome to use your own.


Whether you’re new to the game or play on a regular basis, players of all skill levels will be enjoy the tennis facilities at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale. Guests can enjoy an exceptional resort experience while playing recreational or competitive tennis. For those looking for casual play, we offer four courts, lit for night play, complimentary court time for resort guests. Outdoor Activities

Hiking Shuttle

Our McDowell Sonoran Mountain Preserve Hiking Shuttle departs the resort every Monday – Saturday at 8:45am and returns to the Sonoran Preserve for pick up at 11:45am. Such beautiful surroundings beg to be hiked. Expert guides can be arranged through the Concierge, who will lead guests on a variety of tours to suit all ages, fitness levels and interests. Push your physical limits on a mountain climb. Learn about the geology of the amazing Sonoran Desert. Early morning, seven days a week, guides will pick up hikers at the resort. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, preferably hiking boots or closed-toed shoes. Do not forget the sunscreen and a hat. A two person per tour minimum is required and children must be a minimum of eight year old.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Take your sightseeing adventures to new heights – literally. Get a birds-eye-view of the Sonoran Desert in an extraordinary way. Listen to the whoosh of propane as the balloon goes higher. Float above the spectacular landscape. See if you can spot wildlife from high above.

Desert 4x4 / Hummer Tours

Explore the Sonoran Desert in a 4x4. Cruise along dirt roads, spotting birds, cacti and other wildlife along the way. Listen as your guide explains the history and geology of the area. As a remembrance, hop out and snap a photo of the family. Enjoy the ride to the desert which is approximately 40 minutes. Tours are four hours, seven days a week. Sip icy cold beverages provided by guides. Guests will be picked up at the resort. Wear comfortable clothing, a hat and closed toed shoes. Slather on the sunscreen and bring a sweatshirt or jacket for chillier days. Car seats are required for infants and toddlers. Pregnant women in later stages and those with recent injuries / surgeries are not recommended to join the tour.

Biking Adventures in the Desert

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Scottsdale offers incredible opportunities for biking. Experienced guides are professional cyclists, instructors and bike mechanics. Take a road bike out on the pavement for an exhilarating ride. Combine a good workout and an ecology lesson during a mountain bike ride. Explore and soak up the fabulous Scottsdale weather. Stop and enjoy bottled water and a light snack, provided by guides. 5am, seven days a week. Use bikes and safety equipment provided by guides. Cyclists will be picked up at the resort. Wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes. Apply sunscreen of SPF 25 or better and bring a hat. A two person tour minimum is required and children must be a minimum of eight years old.

Old Town Scottsdale / Art Walk

This 40 year old tradition, opens its doors to the public and shows off the works of the Southwest’s outstanding artists. Every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm, ArtWalks are free and located along Main Street from Scottsdale Rd. west to Goldwater Blvd. and on Marshall Way north of Indian School Rd. to Fifth Ave.

Spring Training

A long-standing tradition since 1947, Scottsdale welcomes devoted fans nationwide during Spring Training. Scottsdale is home to the San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks. The San Francisco Giants play in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale at Scottsdale Stadium. A short drive north, the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks play at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick.


Sedona has beckoned artists and naturalists for centuries. Its picturesque beauty and imposing red rocks make for wonderful photo opportunities and outdoor activities. Journey up a mesa to catch a glimpse of an ancient Native American Ruins. Select a painting from one of the town’s numerous art galleries. Feel the power of a red rock vortex. Break out of your routine and try rattlesnake or prickly pear cactus fries at a local restaurant. Hop in a pink jeep and hang on as your guide points out historical and environmental landmarks. Throw on your swimsuit and cool off at Slide Rock.

Grand Canyon

There’s a reason why more than five million people sojourn to the Grand Canyon each year. The ever-changing colors, vastness and flora and fauna are awe-inspiring. Comprised of the South and North Rims and the Inner Canyon, tourists will leave with this wondrous feat of nature indelibly printed in their memories. Tour the canyon on a sure-footed mule. White water raft the turbulent waters of the Colorado River rapids. Hike the Bright Angel Trail. Linger over brunch at El Tovar, boasting spectacular views.
