The first Hyatt Regency hotel debuts in Atlanta, its groundbreaking design and signature atrium defining Hyatt as a hospitality innovator. Our forward-thinking, design-centered approach will guide countless Hyatt developments over the years, including the 2007 launch of our award-winning Andaz brand, a luxury lifestyle hotel experience that creates a truly immersive and artistic stay inspired by the spirit of the community.

Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, the first Hyatt hotel outside of the United States, opens its doors. Hyatt quickly establishes a strong bond with international travelers, building a bridge to Asia and setting the foundation for decades of brand loyalty around the world.

Hyatt stock begins trading publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol H.
