Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, this is one of the attractions that you need to see to believe. Created between 500 B.C. and 500 A.D., the ancient geoglyphs, some several kilometers long, are located in the Nazca desert and resemble hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish and more. You’ll most likely want to arrange a flyover, which generally lasts about 45 minutes roundtrip and departs from Capitán FAP Renán Elías Olivera Airport (PIO) in Pisco.

Discover the impressive collection of diverse plant and animal species within Paracas Natural Reserve. Wander among approximately 74 plant species, 216 bird species, 16 mammal species, 10 reptile species and 193 fish species. Covering 3,350 square kilometers, the protected natural marine area comprises 65% sea and 35% land and islands. Many visitors also seek out the array of migratory birds such as flamingos, Inca terns, Humboldt penguins and more.

Paracas Natural Reserve

The Candelabra of Paracas, a large geoglyph located on the northern face of the Paracas Peninsula, is an iconic landmark etched into the sandy soil that continues to intrigue archaeologists and visitors centuries after it was created. The exact purpose and origins of the geoglyph remain a mystery, but it is believed to have been created by the Paracas culture over 2,000 years ago.

El Candelabro

This is a must-see for travelers fascinated with the local culture. Explore rooms filled with thought-provoking artifacts, many of them as much as 2,000 years old. Learn more about the ancient civilization and study the exhibition focused on the vital ecosystem of the Natural Reserve of Paracas. The museum generally operates during the morning hours and closes by early afternoon, so inquire about hours while planning.

La Mina Beach is in the heart of Paracas and known for its calm waters and white sand. Often the place to see and be seen, La Mina invites you to relax and enjoy the views. If you’re craving a bit of adventure, consider an afternoon of kayaking and paddleboarding. Or simply rent some beach chairs and umbrellas so you can relax with friends and family.

Discover this local favorite for fresh seafood and other comfort food. Enjoy shellfish, prawns, fish and octopus, or stick to the basics with pastas, pizzas, soups and hot sandwiches. Pair your meal with a drink from the extensive beer, wine and cocktail menu.

Inti-Mar Paracas

These islands are home to a variety of wildlife including colonies of sea lions, Humboldt penguins and unusual marine birds, such as cormorants, Peruvian boobies and Peruvian pelicans. The islands’ ecosystem provides a safe breeding ground for sea lions, pelicans and a large variety of birdlife. Boat tours take about two hours and depart every morning from the private pier.

Ballestas Islands

Embark on a private tour that lasts about two hours, allowing you to explore this historic Incan site. Built in 1450, it’s often referred to as “Red Paint” due to the adobe walls that were once covered with that hue. Tambo Colorado is believed to be one of the best-preserved locations on the south coast that served as a checkpoint along a major travel route.
