Raja Ampat

Raja Ampat translated means ‘four kings’, referring to the islands Salawati, Batanta, Waigeo and Misool. Located on the northwestern tip of New Guinea, this region comprises about 610 islands spread over 50,000 square kilometres of spectacular scenery, including the remote islands of Misool, home to a scenic range of majestic limestone mountains with dramatic cliffs and craggy spires. The above-water beauty is no less stunning: dense tropical forests, unique flora, astounding rock formations and an amazing array of birds and wildlife. Itinerary

  • Day 1: Sorong
    From Bali, Manado, Jakarta or Ambon, you will arrive at Sorong where you will be met by the Alila Purnama crew and be transferred by car and speedboat to the vessel. Once on board, your voyage to relaxation begins. Following a general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and its safety procedures, we cast off and cruise into the Dampier Strait.
  • Day 2: Kri 
    Our first destination will be Kri, a small island just east of Mansuar Island. Here you will enjoy your first experience of Raja Ampat: white-sand beaches, clear waters and iridescent reefs against a backdrop of dense rainforest. For those interested in diving can opt for an afternoon check-dive. We will then sail until we reach Gam Island giving you plenty of time to ease into life on board Alila Purnama. Come evening, savour the combination of an extraordinary dinner and the incredible views around you. We will spend the night at anchor, lulled by the ripples of the sea and the calming tranquility.
  • Day 3: Gam Island
    Wake up to your first daylight view of Gam Island before you. After breakfast, choose from exhilarating activities such as snorkeling or diving to discover the incredible corals and fish life of the Raja Ampat region. Or, if you prefer, you can stay onboard and luxuriate with a pampering spa treatment. Come afternoon, we’ll explore the other side of Gam Island, where more activities await. By evening, we’ll set sail northwards, cruising through the night and crossing the Equator, towards Wayag Island.
  • Day 4: Wayag Island
    Enjoy a beautiful day in the Northern Hemisphere. Take in the wonderful views from your cabin of clear blue water and tiny sun-kissed islands surrounding the Alila Purnama. Take your pick from an array of different activities or simply relax on a stretch of private white-sand beach. In the evening, revel in the romance of dining outdoors under the stars with a beachside barbeque before we set sail southwards towards Waigeo Island.
  • Day 5: Waigeo Island
    Today begins in Sel Pele Bay located on the western side of Waigeo Island, renowned as the best place in Raja Ampat for critter hunting. In addition to the stunning underwater world, you will get to enjoy sighting the rich animal and birdlife in the area as well as a host of other activities planned, including a fascinating visit to the Atlas South Sea Pearl Farm in the island’s Aljuy Bay, to learn about the process of pearl cultivation and harvesting.
  • Day 6: Jef Fam
    Wake up at Jef Fam Island, a marvelous place to enjoy a myriad of activities like sea kayaking, diving, snorkeling and trekking. In the afternoon, the crew will whisk you off in the speedboat for an exciting cruise around the island, a thrilling way to observe small natural pools uniquely created by rocks and discover rare orchids. Enjoy another beautiful sundown experience over a gourmet dinner prepared by our executive chef, a perfect ending to the day.
  • Day 7: Mansuar Island
    Come morning, another day of new discovery awaits at Mansuar Island. With the morning tide, enjoy snorkeling and diving in waters where turtle and visiting manta ray encounters are common. In the afternoon, the crew will escort you on shore to visit a local village – a chance to meet with islanders and learn about the local way of life. Later in the afternoon, enjoy cocktails on board as we begin cruising towards Sorong.
  • Day 8: Sorong
    After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, end your journey where it began and bid farewell to Alila Purnama and the crew as they help you make your way to Domine Eduard Osok Airport in Sorong for your departure.

Komodo Islands

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Komodo National Park is one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature established as a global conservation priority area established to conserve the unique Komodo Dragon, the largest lizard on earth, and its natural habitat. The waters here are home to one of the richest and most diverse marine environments, making it a popular destination for diving. Add to that sun-drenched beaches, turquoise bays, stunning coral reefs, starlit skies, gorgeous sunsets and you have yourself a one-of-a-kind experience with our Komodo Island tours, as the Komodo islands provide a stunning backdrop for riveting adventure and relaxation.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Labuan Bajo
    Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo, you will be met by the Alila Purnama crew and transferred by car and speedboat to Alila Purnama. Following a general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and all safety procedures, we will set sail for Sabalon Island. Lunch will be served during the approximately 90-minute cruise before a splendid afternoon on the beach.
  • Day 2: Gililawa Laut
    The northern islands, reefs and pinnacles of the Komodo National Park provide an irresistible magnet for fishes and divers. In Gililawa Laut you will enjoy a full day of swimming, snorkeling and diving alongside dolphins and manta rays. In the afternoon, take a trek up to a local summit for a spectacular view over the surrounding islands.
  • Day 3: Banta
    By early morning, we’ll reach the island of Banta, just at the border of Komodo National Park. Banta is one of the most beautiful places to be with plenty of options for adventure like kayaking, swimming, snorkeling and diving. Sip a fresh juice at the beach or trek to discover extraordinary panoramic views of the surrounding scenery.
  • Day 4: Komodo
    The following morning, you’ll meet Komodo dragons, the world’s largest lizard averaging 3 metres in length, in their natural habitat. Take a walk around the park guided by experienced rangers who will share their knowledge of the Komodo, along with the flora and fauna of the area. Later, we’ll set sail to the world-famous Pink Beach where you can spend the rest of the day in the water or relaxing by the shore.
  • Day 5: Padar Island
    Padar Island is another excellent spot for snorkeling and diving or sunbathing on a secluded beach with a refreshing cocktail in hand. Or, if you prefer, stay on board the Alila Purnama and luxuriate with a pampering spa treatment.
  • Day 6: Batu Muncul
    Wake up to another paradise view, this time of the pristine white-sand beaches of Batu Muncul where you can laze away the day at your leisure. The clear waters are perfect for swimming, diving and snorkeling. End this wonderful day with an unforgettable barbecue under the stars.
  • Day 7: Labuan Bajo
    After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, end your journey where it began and bid farewell to Alila Purnama and the crew as they help you make your way to Komodo International Airport for your departure.

Ambon to Maumere

Leisurely cruise the seas and islands from Maumere, located on the eastern coast of Flores Island, to Ambon, a fertile, mountainous island that lies off the southwest coast of Seram Island on the north side of the Banda Sea. Cloaked in tropical rainforest, Ambon Island is part of a chain of volcanic islands on the northern side of the world-famous Banda Islands—a region of Indonesia that is the subject of many books, stories and songs. Today they are well known not only for their history but also for their breathtaking landscape, incredible marine life and astonishing coral reef. 

Itinerary

  • Day 1 & 2: Ambon to Nusa Laut
    Arrive in Ambon where you will be met by the Alila Purnama crew and be transferred by car and speedboat to the vessel. Following a general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and its safety procedures, we cast off and cruise towards Nusa Laut Island.
  • Day 3 & 4: Banda Neira
    Once the headquarters of the Dutch East India Company, Banda Neira is now a colourful town facing the still smoking Gunung Api volcano. Here you will have the chance to visit an old and still operational nutmeg plantation; walk around colonial buildings, Banda Fortress and rusting cannons; and go for an incredible mug dive in the bay or Batu Kapal, a submerged rock, or just outside the bay to see the corals, gorgonian fields, marbled rays and groupers that populate this area. You can not only dive and snorkel in the beautiful water but also take a walk into the village to experience the magic of this archipelago and the small islands of Suanggi where thousands of sea-bird nests. Alila Purnama will sail through a stunning passage of green trees, rocks, white beaches, volcanos, colourful local boats and houses—a truly spectacular panorama.
  • Day 5: Nil Desperandum
    Nil Desperandum, meaning ‘don’t despair’, possibly referring to a ship wrecked here centuries ago. It is a big atoll with very deep drop-offs where schooling hammerhead sharks and silky and grey reef sharks can be spotted in the deep waters.
  • Day 6 & 7: Romang & Terbang
    Romang and Terbang Islands offer unspoiled reefs for a great diving experience. At Romang, rainbow-coloured soft corals and a myriad of hard corals dominate the landscape, while sandy slopes feature soft corals and plenty of tiny creatures such as ghost pipe and bumphead parrotfish.
  • Day 8: Wetar
    Perfect visibility makes diving around the Wetar islands and Ring of Fire an absolutely amazing experience. Meet big Napoleon wrasse and hammerhead sharks, and at around 10 metres, the sea is covered entirely with table coral gardens.
  • Day 9: Alor Strait
    The straits of Alor are rated by all divers to be amongst the best dive destinations in the world. All the dive sites in the area have outstanding underwater biodiversity with many different coral species and strong currents that attract big fish like white tips, huge grey reef sharks, tuna, grouper, sunfish, manta rays and whale sharks.
  • Day 10: Lembata
    Lembata Island is known throughout the world as the home of traditional whaling but lesser known is the rich culture of the local people. The scenery throughout the island is breathtaking, from the imposing Ile Ape volcano and the palm-fringed bays to the colourful, bustling local markets that sell traditional ikat weavings made entirely from homegrown cotton that’s spun and dyed by the weaver.
  • Day 11: Komba
    Komba Island is a small isolated and completely uninhabited island located in the Banda Sea, home to the Batu Tara volcano. Clear water, fish-filled walls and diving beneath Komba’s active volcano round out this great dive spot.
  • Day 12: Maumere
    Maumere diving has many interesting topographical formations like gorgonian fans and swarming fish, which make this dive even more special. On the last day, activities will depend on your flight time. Alila Purnama and her crew will escort you to the Fransiskus Xaverius Seda Airport in Maumere and assist with your departure.

Ambon to Raja Ampat

Embark on a 10-day adventure on the Banda Sea and Ceram Sea, from Ambon up to Raja Ampat or vice versa, leisurely cruising all the stunning dive sites and islands. Sail through stunning dive sites and islands on the Banda Sea and Ceram Sea, from Ambon to the archipelago of Raja Ampat, where the pristine environment has been described as the last paradise on earth. 

Cloaked in tropical rainforest, Ambon Island is a fertile, mountainous island that lies off the southwest coast of Seram Island on the north side of the Banda Sea and is part of a chain of volcanic islands on the northern side of the world-famous Banda Islands—a region of Indonesia that is the subject of many books, stories and songs. 

Spanning more than 40,000 square kilometres of land and sea off the northwest tip of New Guinea in Indonesia’s West Papua province, Raja Ampat, or ‘the Four Kings’, comprises the four major islands of Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo, surrounded by over 1,500 small islands. Above the water, this remote region is no less stunning with its pristine beaches, hidden coves, unique flora, birds of paradise and a landscape of profound beauty.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Ambon
    Arrive at Ambon airport where you will be met by the Alila Purnama crew and be transferred by car and speedboat to the vessel. Following an introduction and general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and its safety procedures, you’ll enjoy cocktails as we set sail. Once we reach the bay of Ambon, you can indulge in a swim or a dive before we raise anchor again to cruise overnight towards Nusa Laut.
  • Day 2: Nusa Laut 
    Nusa Laut has beautiful reefs with rich marine diversity. Turtles, sharks, schooling trevallies and all types of reef fish make this a fantastic dive spot. On the surface, dolphins and pilot whales can often be observed frolicking in the water.
  • Day 3: Koon Island
    Koon Island has an incredible reef with walls, slopes, overhangs, caves, huge sponges, and countless types of fish roaming its waters. It is one of the best dive sites for fish life in Indonesia, with regular large fish sightings.
  • Day 4 & 5: Misool
    A prime dive spot on this journey, the reef on the site is rich in soft coral and sea fans. The dive guides guide you to look for creatures like the white frogfish, a resident wobbegong shark, a school of golden spadefish and stingrays sleeping on the tip of the reef. Sites like Fiabacet Pinnacle or Yillet can keep you occupied for hours, taking photos or just swimming in the open waters, looking for creatures and starving at the marine biodiversity.
  • Day 6: Banda Island
    Banda Islands provide a unique opportunity to go lava flow diving after the last eruption in 1988. After a second dive in Batu kapal where pinnacles covered with sea fans and sponges abound, the afternoon will be dedicated to some shore visits: Fort Belgica and some spice plantations. Following a night dive, we set sail to Koon Island.
  • Day 7: Dampier Strait
    Sardine Reef is one of the most classic dives in the Dampier Strait. Keep your eyes peeled for redtooth triggerfish and hundreds of schooling bannerfish off the reef.
  • Day 8: Sorong
    On the last day, activities will depend on your next flight, and it will be time to bid farewell to Alila Purnama and her crew who will escort you to the Fransiskus Xaverius Seda Airport in Maumere airport and assist with your departure.

Cenderawasih Bay

Cenderawasih Bay, also known as Sarera Bay, is a large bay in the northwest province of Papua New Guinea, Indonesia. Extending over 14,535 square kilometres, the bay includes a national park, coastal and mangrove ecosystems, coral reefs, island tropical forest ecosystems and marine waters. In addition to an expansive landscape, there are hundreds of marine and wildlife species to discover. Culture marvel can explore artifacts from WW2, including bomber airplanes and ships scattered throughout the bay.

  • Day 1: Manokwari
    Arrive in Manokwari where you will be met by the Alila Purnama crew and be transferred by car and speedboat to the vessel. Once on board, let your voyage to relaxation begin. Following a general briefing by the Cruise Director to familiarise you with the vessel and its safety procedures, we cast off and cruise in paradise. Say goodbye to land as you enjoy cocktails in the breeze on the upper deck.
  • Day 2: Biak
    Truly spectacular island in Cenderawasih Bay however, below the surface lie the remains of the WW2 Battle of Bik when the Americans made a huge assault against Japanese forces. At the depths lie the wrecks of fighter jets, rescue planes and sunken landing craft, which hold breathtaking coral systems as well as large schooling fish. After lunch, we’re able to cruise to a small yet amazing tropical rainforest where you can take a quick trek to see the beautiful birds of paradise. Cool off in the afternoon sun with a choice of water activities, including snorkeling, diving or sea kayaking.
  • Day 3: Purup Island
    Waking up to the gorgeous surroundings, guests will enjoy magnificent snorkeling over sloping reefs beautifully decorated with fans, whips and elephant ear sponges, where we will encounter congregated schools of fish separated by white sand channels. Focus on the depths to see some reef sharks. After our water activities, we will board for lunch. Afterward, guests can choose to relax, venture into the waters on the speedboats or gear up for a scuba dive.
  • Day 4: Kwatisore
    The area of Kwatisore is home to the majestic and gentle Whale Sharks and the great Blue Shark. Guests will be able to snorkel or dive surrounded by these beautiful and majestic creatures making this a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Enjoy another beautiful sundown experience over a gourmet dinner painstakingly prepared by the executive chef on board Alila Purnama—a perfect end to another amazing day.
  • Day 5: Ripon Island
    Diving around Rippon Island, with its perfect visibility, is a singular experience. Encounter whales, dugong, reef sharks and countless schools of reef fish as you make your way through the water. This is an underwater paradise you will not forget. Late in the afternoon, enjoy a speedboat ride around the nearby sand atolls before relaxing on board with sunset cocktails.
  • Day 6: Warirundi Island
    Wairundi Island offers unspoiled reefs for a wonderful diving experience. At Wairundi, you will be amazed by the abundance of rainbow-coloured soft corals and myriad hard corals that dominate the landscape. Sandy slopes feature soft sponge corals and plenty of creatures such as the coconut crab, which can reach 30 centimetres in diameter, and other little critters including the pygmy seahorse.
  • Day 7: Manokwari 
    After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, end your journey where it began and bid farewell to Alila Purnama and the crew as they help you make your way to Rendani Airport in Manokwari for your departure.
