Radhoo Tulum

Shamanic sanctuary

Healing sands

Mexico’s Caribbean coastline may be crowded, but you’d never know it at Radhoo Tulum. At this silent sanctum set back from the beach, guests communicate via the jungle drums (or WhatsApp), but you won’t find a telephone or television in the rooms. It’s so peaceful, you might even spy a cute coati trying to get in on the net-lounge action on your terrace. Guests are free to use the beaches at sister stays Encantada and Nest – and the group also has a stylish (and so-Tulum) restaurant in charge of the catering, which can be delivered right where you want it.

Our Favourite Rooms

For a silent view of the jungle and the chance to befriend cute coatis, book a Suite Deluxe and enjoy the prime position for sunsets and naps.

Poolside

The jungle-shaded pool (one of the biggest in Tulum, no less) is lined by decking, lounge chairs and straw parasols. Guests can swim in it between 8am and 9pm.

Spa

The whole place has such sanctum vibes that they almost needn’t have bothered with a spa – but you’ll be glad they did, especially if you sign up for a clay or cacao wrap, a bee-venom face mask or a balancing massage. You’ll also be able to book pre-Hispanic sound-healing sessions, a midnight couple’s massage to harness lunar energy and two-hour mud rituals.

Packing Tips

Save suitcase space by leaving your beach bag behind and using the crochet one – already helpfully loaded with swim towels – in your room instead.

Also

Spa treatments can be taken in your room or terrace, if you prefer.

Children

This stay is for over-18s only.

Food and Drinks

Hotel Restaurant

Local restaurant Nü has kindly created a special menu for Radhoo (and one for each of its sister hotels) – you can head over to the bohemian jungle bolthole for catch of the day with creamed yuca and craft cocktails, or have its bespoke selection of tacos and tequila served to you poolside at Radhoo. Breakfast can be served free of charge in your room, or at the thatched veranda by the pool.

Hotel Bar

Tequila (and mezcal) shots have never been more civilised than they are at the bar – you’ll also be able to enjoy Mexico’s strongest spirits in cocktails, mixed with agave honey, purple basil and, for the clean-eaters, chia seeds.

Last Orders

Breakfast at Radhoo is available between 8am and 11am. The hotel's bar and restaurant are open from 8am to 10pm, and Nü serves dinner from 6pm until 10.30pm. The poolside lounge’s hours are 8am to 10pm.

Room Service

Meals can be ordered in between 8am and 10pm – there’s a choice of healthy plates for breakfast and lunch, and dinner dishes arrive fresh out of Nü’s kitchens.

Planes

You can fly direct from various US and Canadian hubs to Tulum Airport, around an hour's drive from the hotel. Alternatively, the international airport in Cancún is two and a half hours away by car. Hotel transfers can be arranged at an extra cost.

Automobiles

If you’re planning a coastal Caribbean road trip, there’s free valet parking at a nearby car park.

Worth Getting Out of Bed For

The concierge can arrange visits to the Mayan ruins of Coba and Chichen Itza, days out in the colonial city of Valladolid and safaris in search of dolphins, manatees and see turtles in the Sian Ka’an reserve, where you’ll be able to snorkel above the coral reef and swim in lagoons, too. They can also set up mezcal tastings, charter yachts (plus chef) to take you on sunset sails and craft the dream Riviera Maya itinerary: archaeological site, cave exploration plus tacos.
